Casa Pura Vida on the Beautiful Sw Shore of Canandaigua Lake
average rating of 4.125 based on 8 reviews

Nice home on SW corner of the Lake. Well maintained. Great dock and large Lakefront yard.

  • 4 of 5

Some minor issues but owners promptly responded and took care of them. Close to town if Naples with restaurants, some nice shops, and good size grocery store. South end if the Lake was excellent spot for kayaking, paddle boat, and canoes.

Great stay on the Lake !

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at La Casa Pura Vida several times and are never disappointed. We always have a wonderful time! The morning views off the upper deck are picture worthy. I have spent several quiet mornings watching the sun come up over the hills with a steaming cup of coffee. Evenings are relaxing and fun on the deck or in the yard with the family.

We always have a house full (8-10 people at any given time) – with three full baths there is never a line for showers. Good water pressure for showers too.

The yard is a good size for the young kids to play and easy lake access. The docks are well maintained and clean. The kids love the fire pit for evening fires roasting marshmallows.

The location is perfect with all of the wineries and micro-breweries in the area. Naples has some very quaint shops to visit and Canandaigua (Wegmans) and Victor are close enough drives for any required serious shopping needs. Having restaurants close by was great. We could order Pizza and wings to go for a night off of cooking or walk over for a meal. Or we could drive into Naples for a meal (less than 10 minutes away).

This is a well-kept property. The house is clean and tidy. The dining area, bar seating and extra kitchen seating are great for accommodating our large family. The full kitchen has all the necessary stock for preparing meals (minus the food of course). Plenty of dishes and silverware etc. Owners are quick to respond to questions or if you have any problems.

The game room is awesome to keep the kids busy for any rainy days you might have.

There is a boat launch and marina are close by for boating needs (fuel etc) whether your bring your own or rent from one of the marinas which is great.

We highly recommend this property.

Excellent value, best view we have had.

  • 4 of 5

This house is the farthest one south on the west side, right next to the Sawmill restaurant. The house was as advertised. Four bedroms with their own bathromms - hard to find. The back deck was spacious with a beautiful unobstructed view of the lake with two umbrella tables on it. We spent most of our time on the deck. We used the large dining table for nightly games and as a serving station for dinner. Wimbledon tennis week was during our stay and thetennis fans were happy with the big TV screen and the quality of the picture. We had plenty of room on the back lawn for many games of cornhole. The grill had enough gas for multiple cookouts, thank you! Only negatives were the weeds in the water, which made the lake less attractive to swim in than other places north on the lake, and the road noise. We drank bottled water because the faucet water wasn't good. None of these issues were deal killers. Our family had a great time at this location. As stated, it is a great value. We will return in future years.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of Casa Pura Vida. I am so happy you had a great stay and would like to welcome you and your family to come back and stay with us anytime. Sorry about the weeds :( Some years when we have very little rain and very hot temps... the weeds appear. Have a great summer.

Glorious extended family get away - fun for all ages!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a terrific week at La Casa Pura Vida and enjoyed relaxing meals on the upper deck. Everything was as promised and even better! The kitchen was well equipped and we never ran out of gas for the outdoor grill. The game room was a pleasure for all of the kids (ages 10, 12, 21, 41, 47, 51, and 81). We had plenty of room and the bathrooms were luxurious. The best shower water pressure we've ever experienced in a rental. It was close to a busy road but we didn't hear much traffic because all of the bedrooms were on the lake-side of the house. It was terrific to have the restaurant next door -- the ladies escaped for a "Girls night out." The owners were attentive but not overbearing and the lake views are breath-taking.

Location is Everything!

  • 3 of 5

We just returned from a week long stay at Casa Pura Vida and had a great time with extended family also staying in the area. The location of the house could not be better in respect to its proximity to the town of Naples and the many wineries and gift shops in that area. Based on previous comments, we came with our own life jackets and took advantage of the peddle boat and spent lots of time fishing off the dock. We were disappointed with the lake itself because the water was mucky, shallow and beyond a certain point, full of weeds- we had envisioned better swimming conditions. It is important to note just how close the house is to the road- it is literally feet from the main road which, as it turned out, was not nearly as busy as we feared when we first arrived so traffic noise was not an issue. The layout of the house was perfect for our extended family- we enjoyed the fact that each bedroom had its own bathroom and the main living space easily accommodated 10+ people. This past week had good weather and we had some nice breezes off the lake but third floor- despite the windows being open and fans on- got quite warm/humid.

Owner's Response: So glad to hear you had a great time and enjoyed our quaint Town of Naples. Our local wineries and the many wineries on the Finger Lakes feature some of the best wines in the country. This spring and summer we have experienced very rainy seasons and the run off from our beautiful hillsides has caused the lake to have a more muddy appearance., The depth of the lake is controlled at the north end of the lake, by releasing water and sometimes they don't get it quite right. The lakeside of the house has a larger yard then most lake houses, this is due to the proximity of the house to the road. Upstate New York is not known to be humid but this summer we have had a few very humid days. Weather can make or break a great vacation, I am glad there was pretty good weather for these vacationers.
