Christmas stay / Wonderful Escape

  • 5 of 5

Our Stay:

My wife and I organized a family getaway over the Christmas holiday with her parents and good friends from the neighborhood. Party included my wife and I, our two kids (2&4), my wife's parents, and another couple (one handicapped). This cabin, this location, and our interaction with the owners exceeded our expectations on all levels.

Cabin:

The cabin is excellently appointed. The look and feel were spot on for what we were looking for on this trip; advertised pictures were accurate and far superior to other alternatives we considered in the same price range. The decor was wonderful...it's in the details...and the details were there. Our party was sort of 3 distinct groups and the tri-level layout of the cabin matched this perfectly. We housed 8 in total comfortably and there was room for more. One of our party is typically reliant upon a wheelchair and we were able to manage just fine. You're not going to be wow'd by the technology in the cabin...but it's a cabin...you shouldn't be. For the most part we set our devices down and enjoyed being unplugged; WIFI was available for the couple of instances where we needed to Google clarification on a recipe. The provided TVs and DVD player allowed us to watch all the Christmas movies we brought. The kitchen met all needs. The fireplace was wonderful (and really effective...we didn't even have to use the furnace in the middle of winter). Roomy...yet divided enough to allow privacy. Truly everything we were looking for. Do yourself a favor...go outside at nighttime and look up and see what the sky looks like with zero light pollution.

Location:

The location was perfect for us; about an hour drive from Ft. Collins; It felt very remote, yet conveniences were only an hour away. The drive in from Ft. Collins is absolutely breathtaking. We witnessed a mostly frozen Cache La Poudre with interspersed flowing areas through an absolutely stunning canyon drive. I imagine it would be amazing during any season. There are neighbors around the cabin...you can't see them and we certainly never heard them. There's also a local Mom-n-Pop convenience store not far from the cabin that stocks the bare essentials should you forget anything.

And...I'm wordy...VRBO is limiting the size of my review. To sum it up...Cabin was Top Notch...Location was Excellent...Owners were extremely accommodating and easy to work with . Our trip was everything we wanted. We will stay here again!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay, and it provided a great sleeping choices for the extended family. Our favorite spot was under the covered patio.

Mountain Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation in Poudre Canyon. Early morning enjoying coffee on the deck in the cool air and road trips to sight see in the afternoons. Peaceful and relaxing stay. The cabin was more a house than a cabin which was great for my family of six. Look forward to staying again next year.

Very relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin! It accommodated our needs well. We really enjoyed sitting on the upper deck. The front grassy area is so pretty with the wild flowers and provided a great place to play bad mitten. The kitchen was adequate, we cooked most of our meals there. We would definitely stay there again!!

Beautiful house, GREAT location!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented this house over the weekend and loved it! We had 3 families and there was plenty of room for all of us. The beds were SUPER comfortable- I felt like I was at a hotel, not a mountain cabin :) Great location too- just a short drive to Dowdy and Bel Aire lakes and four wheel drive trails. We are already planning our trip again for next year.

Very nice

  • 4 of 5

We gathered for a reunion and the house was a great place for us to spread out a bit. Kitchen worked out well, it is well stocked. Plenty of bed options. Property is unique, very clean and well kept.

Owner is very accessible via email or text.

The only negative, we could not get the ceiling fan to work with its remote control. It does get warm on the main floor in the summer.

We have been coming to this beautiful area for years. Thank you for letting us stay.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to connect with your family!! We have checked out the ceiling fan, sorry it didn't work for you. We have a part ordered for it. Thank you for letting us know. Fortunately the mountain air cools the cabin down at night. Thank you for leaving the cabin in great shape as well.
