About the Property

5 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 8, cable and wireless, kitchen and dining.

Located on the Chester front harbor, T'Other End was build in 1776 for David Evans, said to be one of Admiral Nelson's Captains as he served under him at Trafalgar and the battle of the Nile. Now known as one of the pillars of historical Chester, the property consists of two buildings each with their own bath, bedrooms and fireplace. Living in it's original setting you feel home the moment you enter. The large kitchen will entertain the whole family while cooking and is the place where great stories were told. The diner overlooks the harbor and the back of the property faces a 9 acre pasture. It's a 10 min walk to the center of the village with it's many cozy shops, French cafe's, the original playhouse, the local pub and the Chester yacht club where classic yacht races are frequent during week nights and weekends.
A true and timeless treasure

Chester was officially founded in 1759 as the Shoreham grant, although French fishermen had already built a few houses on the site. The first permanent European-descended settlers were a group from Massachusetts who came to the area in 1761. A colorful part of its early history is known as the 'rouge ruse' wherein the townswomen, young in old, garbed in cloaks with their red lining worn outwards marched in an early morning of June 1782 to successfully convince American Privateers lying offshore to find another place to pillage. That ill fated village was Lunenburg.

Chester is one of the wealthiest communities in the province as a result of being a vacation and resort destination, with many seasonal and year-round estates and mansions. The nearby waters of Mahone Bay and its numerous islands are well known for yachting and have made Chester into a cruising destination. A Provincial ferry from the village provides a schedule of daily trips to Tancook Island.
