Peace and Calm
My husband and I were escaping from the city for a few days of quiet relaxation and Frank's place totally delivered. With a fully stocked kitchen and many places to just chill in the home, there wasn't anything that we needed that wasn't provided. We brought all our food for the week and cooked recipes we had been meaning to try for some time. If you're looking for a quiet get away and don' t mind cooking (since you're so far away from restaurants), it's perfect.
Beautiful, peaceful retreat from city life .
This property is truly a gem away from the city. The house is well maintained, very clean, with unique and warm design elements. Bed is very comfortable, kitchen is perfect to cook in- we made several great meals. Frank, our host, was responsive, friendly and very helpful. He even made sure we had cut wood and brought olive oil when we ran out. We will definitely be back!
The title says it all. This home is squeaky clean, comfortable and quiet. It stormed a lot during our stay and we loved sitting in the living room with the lights out to watch the electrical storm. Did not get a chance to use the bikes but my adult kids enjoyed morning jogs and seeing the deer. I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose.
Quiet, comfortable stay
My wife and I and another couple stayed here for the weekend and it was a lovely experience. It's a gorgeous house in a fairly remote and very quiet area. Wonderful amenities and very comfortable. Our host was extremely nice and thoughtful, and helped make our stay a memorable one. If you get a clear night the stars are absolutely stunning and well worth taking in on the back porch. Also fun: Pretty cool, varied record collection and some great classic movies on VHS.Additionally, you're close to a few different towns with some fun stuff to do (New Glarus - shops, brewery, Albany - tubing, hiking, biking, and so on). Really loved staying here - thanks again!!
Peaceful, beautiful, stunning!
We have been lucky enough to have visited this home a few times, and our whole family lovingly refers to it as "the farm". The home is beautifully and thoughtfully constructed, spacious and well equipped. Frank is so helpful and easy to talk to. The open space and beautiful prairies surrounding the house are just stunning. We feel like we are on vacation from the moment we pull into the driveway. Sitting on the back porch watching the sunset is one of our favorite things to do. Plus the proximity to New Glarus and Madison offer up so many more treasures from restaurants to lakes to museums. We love coming here and plan to go back again soon. We only wish we could stay longer each time!
Beautiful countryside setting and beautiful craftsmanship on interior
We enjoyed two wonderful nights are Little Sugar River Farm. There is a beautiful prairie out past the back porch and the interior of the house is contemporary and natural. There would have been plenty of space for up to 6 or 8 people to stay. The kitchen is fully equipped and Frank greeted us on arrival. Definitely recommend this property.
We are 2.5 hours north of Chicago and 40 minutes south of Madison in a very lovely, rural area. We are surrounded on 3 sides by wildlife refuge, so the guesthouse is secluded and peaceful. A short drive away are the charming villages of New Glarus, Monticello, and Monroe, with excellent restaurants, antique shops, galleries. Wonderful bike trails are next to the farm, and the quiet rural roads offer good road biking as well.
