Casita George is truly unique. It is an eclectic mixture of 1890’s farm house, urban garden, Old Mexico and Austin funkiness surrounded by seasonal wildflowers and century old trees. Incredible location in the Central Medical District, just 2 miles to downtown and 1 mile to UT, literally 15 -20 minutes to just about anything in town. It is a 5-10 minute drive, 2 miles, a $10-$15 cab ride or 20 minute bike ride to downtown. Public transportation is easy with several bus stops just 1-2 minutes from the house. You can also try out Car2Go. But you really don’t need a car in the neighborhood. It is walking distance to 2 grocery stores, dozens of restaurants/bars, coffee shops and retail shopping: 26 Doors Shopping Center, Central Market Grocery & Cafe, Doc’s, the Draught House, Teo's, Santa Rita Catina, Taco Shack, Uchico, P. Terry's, Bonsai, Taco Deli, the original Kerbey Lane Cafe on Kerbey Lane and many more…….The Casita is newly completed with the highest quality materials and workmanship. The interior is bright, open, and airy. Two sky lights and 5 windows flood the place with loads of natural light. The space features 9 foot ceilings and beautifully stained and polished concrete floors. The cabinetry is custom made, solid wood, Euro style with soft-close hinges. Countertops are artisan crafted 2“ thick stained and polished concrete. The kitchen is completely equipped for dining in – all the pots, pans, dishes, and utensils you’ll need as well as some very nice Margarita and wine glasses. The bedroom area is separated by a handsome bamboo screen for privacy. The bathroom is bathed in natural light from an overhead skylight (you can view the treetops or the moon while brushing your teeth!). The walk-in shower is tiled from floor to ceiling with gorgeous Mexican Talavera tiles. It has a solid teak shower bench and the most spacious shower caddy on the planet. A tankless water heater provides hot water continuously even if the washing machine, dishwasher and shower are in use simultaneously…….Our guests will enjoy the HD Flat Screen TV, Cable, and of course WiFi. In addition, we’ve installed 2 Ethernet jacks for super fast connectivity to accommodate business travelers……The covered porch is an excellent spot to kick back, relax and enjoy the fenced yard, vegetable garden, scare crow, whirligigs, wild flowers, singing birds and towering heritage trees……..A walk, run or bike ride down nearby Shoal Creek Trail is an excellent way to stretch out and enjoy nature as well as learn a little bit about the history of what eventually became our home and neighborhood………………For larger groups during major events, the main house, Casa George is also available. About Judi

Austin has been my home for over 30 years. I loved it when I moved here from Louisiana and continue to love it to this day....I can't think of a better place to enjoy live music, outdoor recreation and gorgeous springtime wildflowers!

Why Judi chose Rosedale

Casita George was completed in 2014 as a second residence on our property. Twelve years ago, I was part house sitter and part roommate with my friends who owned the property. I fell in love with the neighborhood, the convenient location, the giant old trees and the ambiance of the house built in the 1890's so I bought it a few years later. I am the 3rd owner of the property; the George family owned it for 100 years. I met John a few years later and we started improving the property because we really wanted to be here for the long haul and old houses require a lot of TLC! Once we got the main house to a high level of sustainability we started the plans to build an apartment. And the adventure began! Because of the small size of the project and other factors we self contracted most of the work. It took us a couple of years to transform a part of the property that was once a wasteland into something that is high quality, unique and beautiful for our family, friends and guests to enjoy. The experience has been rewarding and a journey of discovery. We found artifacts from the 1890's during various excavations and land deeds going back to the 1850's as part of the permitting process. We befriended more neighbors in 2 yrs than in the previous 10. We recycled, refurbished, restored and re-purposed so many things that just about everything on or in the place has a story of its own. We discovered that night herons nest in a Live Oak across the street and watched their babies grow up 2 years in a row. When our wildflowers bloom in the spring, we've discovered that it makes people happy. It is truly a happy place!

Lovely neighborhood, excellent accommodations

This small house was the perfect place for four of us to stay while mom had heart surgery at the Austin Heart Hospital just a couple of blocks away. Nice older walkable neighborhood that is quiet with big trees but so close to the medical facilities and many restaurants and grocery stores. Our hostess provided cheese and chips upon our arrival, a local parking pass for our extra car, and was extremely accommodating to our every need. We sat outside in the evening on the front porch for wine and the sunset, We loved staying here and will definitely stay here again. The house is well furnished, comfortable and a kitchen with everything you could possibly need.

Mi Casa Es Su Casa

I can not say enough of what a wonderful experience I had staying at Casita George. I truly felt as though Judi helped me make it my home as I transitioned jobs moving to Austin. She was warm and welcoming and available for help to answer questions at any time. The Casita is immaculately clean and extremely well stocked with anything you might need for your stay. She was very flexible and offered the use of her bikes or anything else I needed during my stay too. The apartment is centrally located just a couple miles from downtown and even closer to the University of Texas. We loved trying all Judi's recommendations on food and found some new favorites including one of the best burgers we've ever had at Doc's which is less than a block from the Casita. This home was perfect for me and I encourage you to try it.

We loved Casita George!

We stayed two nights at Casita George in February. This cottage is beautiful! It is also very clean, spotless in fact (I wish my house was this clean). Great location, very close to many restaurants and Central Market. The bed is very comfortable and the weather was so nice that we slept with the windows open and it was very quiet. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Austin. Steve and Denise, Edmond, OK.

Best Austin location

Perfect location for SxSw or any Austin event. Cottage is wonderful. Fully stocked with all incidental items (we have stayed places where there was no TP, salt, coffee filters, etc). Setting is beautiful and quiet, yet in the heart of town.

Judi is the best host we have encountered. We feel as if we have made a friend and not just met a property owner.

We will definitely stay again.

Perfect Accommodation and Wonderful Host!

Thanks to a friend who previously stayed here and recommended Casita George, I had a wonderful time. The cottage is so wonderful, peaceful and right in the heart of Austin and close to the UT Campus. At the same time it's a peaceful retreat from the hussle and bussle of the city. I loved la Casita and how impeccably clean it was when I arrived. Not to mention, Judi had a wonderful Welcome note and some snacks for me in the refrigerator. This was a very nice touch.

Judi is wonderful! She went above and beyond to make sure I got the most out of my trip and even had an itinerary for me. She had great suggestions and I did most of them. I definitely appreciated this since I made the most out of my trip in Austin. I've stayed at other Homeaways and I've never had a host like Judi, she's so personable and wants to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. I will definitely let my friends and family know about Casita George if they plan in visiting Austin. I'm sure they will enjoy their stay just like I did and I cannot wait to return! Thank you, Judi for your impeccable Hospitality!

Wonderful and convenient cottage.

Loved our stay at Casita George. Our hostess was so helpful and helped coordinate her bikes in order for us to ride. Very clean and accommodating studio with wonderful features that made out stay so relaxing
