About The Owner

We are Pat and Mary Gavin and we have been traveling to the Smokies for years. We love it and it is a great escape from the heat of Florida. We bought our property about 20 years ago with hopes of building some day. We built this log cabin home in 2009. As is with most homes it is still a work in progress but quite comfortable. We have everything you would need for a comfortable relaxing vacation.

Why The Owner chose Glens of Ironduff

So much to see and do in this area. 30 minutes west of Asheville, home of the great Biltmore Estate. 45 minutes east of Smoky Mountain National Park.

What makes this cabin unique

We love to grill out on the deck and enjoy the view and sunset.

Awesome property with an even better ever changing view

Pictures do not do it justice. We (7 of us) would return. Only negative is the stairs going down are bare wood and I slipped attempting them in my socks and fell. They are ok with bare feet or shoes. This is a wonderful place to stay and all transactions and communications went smoothly.

This Smoky Mtn home was everything we hoped it would be and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful vacation at this lovely Smoky Mtn home! The home is more beautiful than the pictures. We had plenty of room for our family to spread out as well as share wonderful family time together. We liked everything about the home from the incredible mtn views from just about every room and the fabulous deck, to the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings and beds, luxurious bathrooms, the air hockey game in the rec rm, and the outdoor fire pit where we had a fun campfire one evening. There were also lots of places to visit and enjoy in the area, including: Smoky Mtn NP, Blue Ridge Parkway, Waynesville with shops and restaurants, Soco Waterfalls, Asheville only 40 mins away, and the Lake Junaluska golf course. We would love to return in the future for another family vacation! Thank you for sharing your fabulous mountain retreat with others!

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky enough to stay here last month. It's perfect. I have been trying to write a review since that time but have been unable to describe it correctly. The other reviews are accurate, but amazing or gorgeous does not quite do this property justice.

It is clean (I am a clean freak), it is beautifully appointed. Everything you need is there. And the view alone is worth the trip.

We wanted to stay up the entire last night just because we were so sorry leave Saturday.

The house is wonderful for everyone unless you don't have a car.

It is perfect.

Perfect place to spend a week or more....

  • 5 of 5

The first thing I have to say, like so many others have, is "What a View!"

If you would like to wake up to see how the Smokey Mountains got their name, you will see it here.

The home's view is absolutely stunning! And at night, the lights from the homes down in the valley, seem to mirror the stars in the sky. The home is very spacious and my wife and I only used the main level of the home. It is very nicely decorated and has everything you could ever ask for in a vacation home.

Every day we had a different activity scheduled. We visited the Biltmore Estate for a couple of the days. We drove to many waterfalls within an hours drive. We went and climbed to the top of Clingman's Dome and visited Gatlinburg, TN. We also went and saw the elk come out in the Cataloochee Valley one evening.

The home is perfectly located 45 minutes west of Asheville and east of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. The town of Waynesville is also a great place to shop. Don't miss going into Mast's General Store. The shop owners in town, were extremely friendly and always willing to help us.

The Biltmore was definitely the highlight of the trip; however I do share the same opinion as many other - our view from the deck of the home was always the highlight of every morning and evening. It is fun to see the shadows of the clouds through the sunlight passing across the landscape of the mountains.

If you are considering staying in this area for any length of time and wish to take it all in, you will definitely want to stay in this home. My wife and I will be talking about this vacation in the North Carolina mountains for years to come.

Best vacation yet

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do this cabin any justice! Everything about our stay was more then we ever expected. Pat and Mary did an excellent job with this cabin and it makes you feel right at home. Every detail put into this home was perfect and the view puts the icing on the cake. We loved exploring downtown Waynesville along with the two recommended hikes to Chimney Rock and Mouse Falls.
