About C.Atay Hermsen
We are a couple loves traveling and always trying to rent an apartments during our trips just to feel as we are living in that country. First thing we do is trying to find a local markets ,do shopping and cooking at our new home.So when we have the second apartment in the same building we decided to give this opportunity to our guests in the best part of Amsterdam. So our guests are being also our neighbors. It became a hobby for us while I am working as a dentist and my husband works as an engineer.
C.Atay Hermsen purchased this Apartment in 2011
Why C.Atay Hermsen chose Amsterdam City Centre
We live also in the same building so we decided that 2 apartment is too much for us and began to rent it to our guests since 2010
What makes this Apartment unique
This is the most popular area called Jordaan with many small cafes and restaurants.During the day it is always alive with street musicians, boats or somedays with local markets .At nights it is so peaceful and safe and you hardly hear trafic although the apartment is located centrum centrum. It is 2 minutes walking distance to Anna frank's house and 20 minutes to the museums. There are many uniek shops around and 2 parks .Train station is 10 minutes walking distance. So you dont need any public transport. The view from the apartment is delightful with boat houses and the view of Norden church. All the day you can watch passing of boats on the prinsencanal. My favourite ritual is going to saturday market just across the house to buy weekly fresh flowers and fish to cook for weekend. We are sure you will also enjoy beeing here as we are enjoying since 12 years.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Charming Amsterdam Stay
It would be impossible to find a more charming and welcoming option for an Amsterdam stay. Cido and Rob are gracious hosts who offer their guests a base that is exceptionally well stocked with the comforts of home as well as reading materials to orient to Amsterdam. The apartment on a canal in lively, colorful Jordan which offers exceptional options for dining and entertainment, including local markets. The only drawback are the three flights of steep stairs leading to the apartment. I mention this as a consideration for those who may be traveling with heavy baggage.
Many good reviews for this property so will not repeat as we found prior reviews accurate on size, condition and views from this flat. Pay attention to comments on stairs - they could be an issue for some. We are both 67 and in decent shape. We got two 45# bags up 3 narrow flights and used the stairs 3-5 times per day for a week with no problems.
Owner were out of the country visiting a parent while we were there so all communication was via email which worked fine - for most things. Neighborhood around the flat is spectacular, especially the Saturday market directly across the canal. Tram is a few blocks over but we walked to museums and most other locations. I would suggest using a cab from the central train station if you have luggage of any size. We used the Taxi TCA app and got a flat rate just like Uber.
FYI - this summer there are special exhibits at both major art museums. Order tickets ahead online. Same for Ann Frank house. We saw many disappointed people at all three locations.
Exactly As Advertised
A tidy and well appointed apartment, everything works and there are many thoughtful touches to smooth your stay. The hostess is top notch in the helpful department, very welcoming and available if you have questions. The added bonus to this apartment, in a city with quite narrow canals and streets, is wide the vista you have across the canal to an open square and view of the North Church. It lifts your heart. Shops and cafes close to hand, and the Saturday organic farmers market across the way is an added benefit. Truly Home Sweet Home Amsterdam. Highly recommended.
Wonderful Apartment in Jordaan
We had a wonderful stay at Cido’s apartment in Jordaan. The location is ideal — away from the touristy center but walkable to all major sites. There was construction during our stay so the view was obstructed but we still enjoyed the view. Best apple pie across the street was a nice plus!
Great location, gracious host!
This was our first visit to Amsterdam and we were very happy with our accommodations. Our host had everything we needed, including great advice on places to see and where to eat. The apartment was clean and very comfortable, nicely decorated, kitchen met all our needs, and the location was perfect for us. Canalfront with a great view, and close enough to walk to everything. It had a local vibe, not a touristy feel. So many things to see and do, we will be back.
Great little apartment in prime location
We had a wonderful stay in this cozy apartment for a week during the New Year’s holiday. We were able to watch fireworks out of the windows earlier in the evening and then walked down 2 bridges to view the fabulous display at midnight. The apartment is near restaurants and shopping and a short walk to many sights. We particularly enjoyed the Dutch pancakes at The Pancake Bakery down the street. The apartment is comfortably furnished and Cido and Rob have thought of everything one might need. They were out of town during our stay, but Gabriela was very welcoming and helpful. We also found the recommended Concierge app to be very helpful. We would love to visit again in a different season and would definitely choose to stay in this lovely apartment.
