Really nice spot for our group trip
Location was sick! This place is right on the beach and about five minutes uber from all the hotspots in South Beach. We most liked the big space, the big TV, and the big window. The place was very very clean and the couches all over the place made hanging out fun, especially during the rain and in the mornings before we went out.
The girls loved that there are two full bathrooms, although when they would use the hairdryers at the same time the breaker would get triggered. A quick call to the owner help us realize this. The owner seem like a really nice guy and was very professional and quick with our questions.
The only thing we wish we had was more towels, We were able to wash in the apartment but the dryer didn't seem to heat up very fast. Ultimately bought a couple beachtowels between us and luckily there was an additional dryer/laundry downstairs that we were able to use. Free parking was also a big plus but it can take a while during busy periods.
All in all, great spot for groups!!
Wasn't to happy with the stay.
Getting the hotel wasn't the problem everything went well their. Owner accommodated for early check ins and outs. The problem I had with the room was that it wasn't up to standards especially for what I paid. The couches had wear and tears, blinds for window had missing pieces and wasn't working, roaches in the kitchen area and dryer wasn't drying (no heat). The roaches ruined my stay. This room is owned by private owner so, no house keeping. That explains the roaches. Overall rating one star even though I managed to stay with out any complaints. Lesson learn though, don't ever rent from private owner again!
Hello Larry (& All my future guests),
In addressing your review LETS START W/THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM:
#1.) You CANNOT have 8 ADULTS stay at building that literally "sits on the sand/the ocean", in a TROPICAL climate like Miami Beach WITHOUT (reasonably) CLEANING UP after yourselves!
==>Spilling (...& then leaving/disregarding) soda on the floor, allowing food garbage pile up + sweets, chips, crumbs & gum throughout the unit (for MULTIPLE days) will UNDOUBTEDLY result in unwanted guests showing up..(aka ANTS, insects, & yes, even the South Florida Palmetto bug)==> REGARDLESS of how much "extermination" is done
***(we have a weekly extermination spraying protocol BTW).
***This is equally true of 5-star luxury resorts.
#2.) Being a young group of guys that (admittedly) "...booked their 1st private vacation rental ever", perhaps you were used to a typical hotel stay--where a MAID would come in and clean up after you every day.
**However, as expained in the listing details AND our discussion--this is NOT how it works in a private loft/apt). ***Daily Maid service IS AVAILABLE, but this comes at additional COST--which you decided to FORGO.
(**..bringing me to a 3rd point)
3.) I'm very sorry if you feel my unit "..did not meet the standard of what you paid for". However, TO BE FAIR, with a per person/per night total cost of $60--(w/all due respect), I cannot exactly compete with the Ritz Carlton, we're not in the same category.
--->Having been hosting since 2009--I'm constantly studying the local market/prices--so, I humbly challenge anyone to help me find an option that exceeds the quality, location, amenities, space and VALUE (@a better price).
#4.) While certainly some of the furniture/fixtures will inevitably encounter normal wear & tear (& are replaced accordingly)--I find IN BAD FAITH) that your group damaged the couches, broke several of the blinds, destroyed the bathroom towel hangers, scuffed the walls..& THEN proceed to complain about this in your "review". (thank goodness for property damage protection insurance)
(*Btw, you DID NOT stay "without complaint"---you & your guests received several building violations including excessive noise & disorderly conduct)--what you DID do is NOT communicate with me (likely because of the damage you caused)
**I pride myself on staying in continuous contact w/my guests=>if you had any issues you could have reached out to me (anytime) & I would've worked toward some sort of solution.

This loft was a real joy to host our group of 4. We had an amazing time finishing out our cruise vacation by spending a couple of extra days in Miami Beach. The space was big, bright, open and clean & Gregory the owner was very helpful, accommodating and professional. Pool and Tiki area is awsome, private beach backyard was superb.
Would stay here again in a heartbeat!.
Booked with Home away for a stay at this loft for two days. The owner responded a day after booking to confirm my stay and explained some of the details of the property. The owner further advised that the property included one parking space and he would allow early check in and late check out, if there were no other renters immediately prior to and after the requested stay dates. The check in process was good, I went straight to the security office and was checked in within five minutes. The property is an open area of approximately 900 square feet. There is a space that was creatively built above the kitchen area that has a sofa, stereo and television, but it is not recommended for use due to the fact there is not a permanent staircase to access the area. The owner has marked this area for storage only. The unit has a large front window with a view of the street as seen through the advertising photo. There are two bathrooms within the unit. I found the unit to be spacious enough to accommodate several people for entertaining purposes. The bathrooms were cleaned fairly well, however the kitchen area needed a thorough cleaning as there were roaches seen within the kitchen area. The large black sofa next to the front window is nice, however the remaining furniture especially the grey sofa shown in the advertising photo is worn and needs to be replaced as it has seen better days. The unit has a nice big screen television and the rug is a nice touch. It is my opinion, if the owner provides a little tender loving care to this property it would get higher ratings. First suggestion is to hire a good exterminator to get rid of the roach issue, upgrade the worn furniture, and conduct an inspection to ensure the unit is thoroughly cleaned to include the kitchen area, also ensure that the unit is stocked with essentials ie. ample paper towels and toilet paper. The last recommendation is a little costly, but it is suggested to invest in the property and build a permanent staircase to make the area above usable. I rate this unit a three but it definitely has the potential to be rated higher with these suggestions.
We had a phenomenal time!
Place is great. Easily accommodated our group of 6. Owner was very responsive and helpful. HIGHLIGHTS: Location, Open Layout, High Ceilings & Big window, Nice furniture and huge TV, "hotel-like" feel with large apartment amenities. WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED: Parking, can take a while (VALET) and is only provided for 1 vehicle free of charge, so we had to pay almost $40/night for a second car. FINAL THOUGHTS: Evenstill, given the overall price vs. what we got, even when inlcuding the cost of the additional parking, this was a really great deal!
The pictures of this place are Fabolous; however you can see that this place is rundown and not kept up by the Owner. He is renting out this place, has a “ cleaning “ lady coming before guests arrive and depart to do surface cleaning and that’s it. When we arrived the upstairs was filthy!! There was trash laying around, no fresh linen( blankets smelled & looked as if they had been in the closet for years) No towels or wash clothes. The Owner which I initially thought was a really nice guy attempted to correct these mistakes. After contacting him, sending him several pics of the place to confirm the condition, he sent over the cleaning lady. So myself and guests tried to push past the disappointment of this “ dump” because that’s exactly what it is & Continue with our mini vaca.. However it gets worse, so after dealing with dirty blankets, no wash cloths or towels, furniture Old & worn, this place has ROACHES!!!!!!!! I come all the way from my apt on Central Park West to stay in a place with roaches??!! The television stopped working, this was the trip from hell!! After contacting the Owner I informed him that I wanted half of my money back, he stated & I quote “ what do you think your in control?” As if someone was trying to pull a fast one on him. He went from pleasant to argumentive and accusatory when I asked for my funds. He wasn’t nice at all, he wanted to give me back $300 which I refused to accept. I don’t sleep with ROACHES!!! Unfortunately This HomeAway App will not allow me to upload pictures. I could care less about his response to my review. I have nothing to gain by writing a negative review. He offered me money as I mentioned which I turned down because it was an insult!! Roaches in a South Beach loft Deplorable!!
To all my WONDERFUL future guests===>To say that I am disheartened whenever I am forced to encounter individuals like this tenant in my day-to-day business operations is an understatement. Unfortunately, no matter how pleasant, upfront, honest and accommodating I may be, there is no guarantee that the person on the other end of the transaction will reciprocate.
To that end, receiving this kind of review is unfortunately sometimes par for the course when opening your home to all comers.
Please keep in mind this guest (and her group) were asked to LEAVE the property for their (non-compliant) behavior (which included "walking around inappropriately exposed from the pool,, no shoes in common areas, inviting unregistered/unannounced guests into the unit, (aka throwing an unauthorized party)--ALL IN ADDITION to being disrespectful and un-cooperative with building staff (...including security). ****Once she was eventually escorted off the property, this guest then tried to strong arm me into refunding the money for her stay (despite her having spent several nights at my unit prior to being asked to leave and causing damage to the property ).
(TO be clear: This is obviously something I would certainly not agree to and thus the retaliatory "FLAME REVIEW" you see here). Please keep in mind, sites like HOMEAWAY, VRBO, Vacation rentals.com and others DO NOT VERIFY THE VALIDITY of these types of 'flame reviews", rather, ....they simply post whatever is written by a paying customer (so long as there is no profanity or threatening language).
One may also wonder if my property was "as described", why someone would even choose to stay there (almost for the entire duration)....especially since sites like homeaway offer a money back "carefree book with confidence guarantee" if the property is presented not as described.
**(In my mind it also seems quite strange/or at the very least INCONSISTANT that this "upper west sider" would choose to stay in a "dirty apartment" and "sleep with roaches"? Really? almost laughable if it weren't so sad.)
I can only hope you are able to read (and take into consideration) the other 35+ reviews I have received over the course of my tenure since offering my LOFT for the past 9+ years...(...most of which were extremely positive, a fact for which I am extremely grateful)
