Huge Funky Urban Loft (Sleeps 4-6)

This large open San Francisco-syle loft is located downstairs and is approximately 1,100 square ft. The residence has a slight industrial feel with a garage-style door that opens to a private patio with outdoor furniture. The unit is made to feel warm with cherry floors, and earth tone paints.

After a long hard work day or an evening of enjoying all the nightlife of the Gaslamp, turn off the lights, turn on the 42” flat screen TV. When you're ready to call it a night you can look forward to crawling into the comfortable queen size bed that's in a large 12X18 bedroom.

For your enjoyment, we encourage you to “Go Green” and take bicycles to The Children’s Museum, Seaport Village, The Famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, The San Diego Bay, or the USS Midway.

Good Location But Uncomfortable "Loft"

The "loft" is actually on the ground level with a couple of other apartments above. During our stay, the one above us was occupied by one or two young children who loved to run around and then bounce a ball on their floor over our ceiling. A call for help to the manager was not responded. The loft is apparently a former garage, leaving lots of room including two beds in one part of the large front room that could be closed off by curtains. The bedroom floor sagged in the center, a bit awkward to walk across; it too was closed from the front room off only by curtains. There was no closet area for hanging clothes, and the line in the bedroom area from which clothes could be kept was too high for my 5' wife to reach. The kitchen was in good shape. The bathroom toilet was very short, hard for an adult to get up from. We were given two toilet rolls for the five days we stayed there, with instructions for buy more if we wanted more. Lighting was very odd with lots of light in the front room and minimal in other areas; we used extensions to permit using computers. Access to the internet was easy and free. Location was excellent, about mid-way from Horton Plaza and the heart of Gaslamp, each only two or three blocks away. Gaslamp has excellent pubs and restaurants, used by both tourists and locals. There was free parking behind a fence in front of the ground apartment and another at the edge of the sidewalk; two of the spaces were easy to use but the other two were difficult to maneuver into. Cost was reasonable for the Gaslamp area.

I had to click on one start, but it's not even worth 1/2 or 1/4 of a star! DON'T STAY HERE!

I have rented many apartments through Home Away and have NEVER had any issues until this apartment in San Diego. After a long trip from the east coast, all I wanted to do was relax and crash when I arrived. First, I must say, the pictures of the apartment are NOT at all what the apartment actually looks like. The apartment was absolutely filthy. A few of the notable snapshots were these:

· the stained bath towel (was it blood? Rust? Food? Who cares – YUCKY!!!);

· the peeling, I wouldn’t want to sit on it leather couch

· the ramshackle wobbly dining table/chairs;

the blistered and shabby worn table top in kitchen and living area; VERY worn pleather/leather futon sofas,

AND… WAIT FOR IT….the piece de resistance…. Dog poop… yes poop – looked as if from a small breed by the size of it…. And NOT Soft… it was harden and had paled in color as if aged.

I emailed the owner that night to let her know the condition of the apartment. Her reply was "that they didn't allow dogs" so she couldn't understand why there was dog feces on the carpet. I emailed her back stating it certainly had feces on the carpet. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much that night. My housemate who checked in the day prior to me, left to go get a hotel room for their stay!

When I awoke the next morning, I called the "owner" and did not receive a phone call back, instead their very nice maintenance man called me to find out all the details of the apartment. He told me he would relay my message to the owner. When Daniel arrived, I was leaving, (I also booked a hotel room) and the maintenance man stated the owners would not compensate me for my stay, but that they would send a cleaning crew to apartment. He also told me a new couch was on order. Of course, that had nothing to do with my stay!

We went back and forth via email about the apartment during the length of my stay in San Diego and was finally notified by the owner, (who I corresponded with) would compensate me 20% of my stay! This undoubtedly was a slap in the face! Unfortunately, I cannot post pictures, but I have reported this listing to Home Away and they will receive ALL pictures.

Lastly, if you are a type of person that doesn't care about filth or want to host a fraternity party, then this apartment is for you. Families and business clients beware! One notable positive is that is is close to everything......

Amazing location and great property

The unit had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and location couldn't be any better. Working with Carly and Tony from the Cat Cafe next door was a pleasure. We had no issues whatsoever. Would definitely recommend this to a friend and would absolutely consider staying here again!

Great location with tons of space.

This had some of the best location in the downtown area. Just a block or two walk from everything in a Gaslamp, but off enough that you don't have all the people near. One block away from Ralph's to go grocery shopping. With a full kitchen and plenty of space, there is little reason to go out. I would and probably will rent this place again.

Great. The decor was different from the picture.

Loved the location. Next to great restaurants, shops and all the great gaslamp bars. We were limited on towels. Had 4 towels left for the 6 days we stayed. No washer and dryer. Spent more money washing towels and took some of our play time out of our day. Had to buy tp. Pans could also be upgraded. But loved having the kitchen to cook in. I would def return.

great location but feels like staying in cheap basement garage

location is 5 stars. the unit is in a great spot to get to and from ball field and convention center as well as all the dining and shopping nearby.

the unit seems clean but the floor is very uneven and warped from water damage, you can see where the cinderblock walls are not sealed well and furnishing are ultra cheap.

would not stay here again, but saw no reason to complain while i was there and had no problems because only slept and changed to leave again.

The property is three easy walking blocks to The San Diego Convention Center, Grand Hyatt, only two blocks from the Marriot Marina, only 24 hour Ralphs Grocery Store in the Gaslamp/Marina District, one block from the Gaslamp and a short bike ride to the amazing beaches of Coronado Island. Further, the unit is only 1.8 miles to the SD Zoo, an 8.5 miles to Sea World. Personally, one of my favorite things to do is ride the bikes provided, at no cost, about 10 minutes to the ferry or water taxi and go to Coronado to enjoy the beaches or just cruise the boardwalk.
