We built this cabin because we fell in love with Lake O'brien. The cool clean water, wildlife, mature trees and evening fires are some of the features that make our home a wonderful place to "escape" from the stress and daily grind. Sleep with the window open and hear the loons calling in the spring, it is absolutely serene.
Greg purchased this Cabin in 2001

Beautiful and comfortable home, perfectly situated
Greg was easy to communicate with and the property was perfect as always. Our small board has used this as a retreat space that last few years and it is always perfect. Thank you!!!
Well appointed, cared-for space on a lovely lake.
Our family of 15 has been getting together for a cabin weekend for the last 5 years. This home was among our favorites for its location (very near Crosslake), well-appointed kitchen (we are cooks, and found everything we needed), ample sleeping* space and pleasant and roomy outdoor spaces (firepit, deck and access to lake - we fished and kayaked).
The home itself is cozy and well cared for. Our only real critique is that, despite the house sleeping 18, the main living space was tight for our group. It's lovely, and we spent a lot of time in front of the fireplace, but we were there at a time of year where we WERE all inside together often, and the size of the main room, the way it's divided between kitchen / dining / living space and large furnishings meant for quite a bit of shimmying from place to place. Our first day there, we were 11 people, and it seemed comfortable enough with that number of people.
*The bunk room / game area in the loft worked well for our family, as we have kids of various ages who enjoyed playing in that area, but if you have more individual couples / families who prefer more privacy, this layout may not be ideal. I believe 10 of the 18 sleeping positions are in that room. There is also a generously sized closet on the lower level, which our 3-year old was delighted to take up residence in for the weekend!
All-in-all we'd highly recommend this home for a group of 10-11, or a larger group in the summer, when the majority of your time is spent outdoors!
Weather, family and friends made this stay outstanding. We enjoyed the cabin, lake and Crosslake area. Cabin accommodated our 6 adults very well. Memories of Lake OBrien were reinforced and awesome.
We are so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay. You and your group were great and we hope to see you again!
Great beach, clear lake. Perfect for young children
Our grandchildren spent a part of every day in the water. It is shallow and clear for a long ways out. It is the best beach/lake that we have stayed at in the 17 years we have been doing this. The house was nice, but the living space (kitchen, dining and living) was a little cramped for 17 of us but otherwise just fine, We had a great week together and made some wonderful memories. It was a short drive to Cross Lake if we needed anything.
Thank you so much for your kind words! The "best beach/lake that we have stayed at in 17 years...." Wow! Super glad you made wonderful memories and hope to see you again!
Our yearly family cabin experience
This was one of the most fun weeks we have had. We have been staying a cabins since 2004 and this was the BEST!. Besides a great cabin the beach was great for little kids. they spent so much time in the water it was great. The owners are GREAT to work with and helped us make memories that will last a life time. The 4 year old said "Grandpa, I want to live here forever!" That really sums up how fun it was. 8 adults 7 grandkids. with 4 bedrooms 3 bath rooms and a huge area for the kids to sleep and play it was great. The pictures don't do justice to what a great place it is. Grandpa & Grandma and all the kids and grandkids.say THANKS for the memories.
We are so glad you and your family had fun, especially your grand kids! Have a great fall and we look forward to seeing you again!
This is a wonderful home, and the owners are very responsive. The beach is perfect for little kids, one of the nicest we have stayed at. We followed the suggestions in the book to visit , and we loved those places as well.
The lake traffic was very quite the week we stayed, great fishing off of the dock for the kids. A enjoyable, relaxing vacation.
Lake O'Brien is 188 acres, and one of the clearest lakes in the state, with water clarity down to 22 feet. The fishing is great for northerns, bass, walleyes, crappies and sunfish. Skiing, after dinner sunset cruise on the Pontoon or a walk through the mature pine forest are just a few of the attractions. World class golf at The Legacy, The Preserve, Deacons Lodge or the local Crosswoods are available close by. For the shopper, you can visit downtown Crosslake and Nisswa, Christmas Point or Fleet Farm. There are numerous restaurants nearbye, but don't miss dinner at the Riverside Inn and an Ice Cream Cone at Lake Country Crafts and Cones in Crosslake. The wild rice at the Bungalow is outstanding. For you winter enthusiasts, the snowmobiling and cross country skiing are unbeatable!
Other Activities: Cross Country Skiing
