Consider taking the PETROGLYPH VALLEY TOUR while you’re here!

Petroglyph Valley is a unique point-of-interest, located nearby on a local working cattle ranch. Don will drive you and your party about 20 minutes south of our property, where he has exclusive access onto the ranch. The private tour includes both hiking and a fascinating bit of history. (This is not your common tourist destination, as it is not open to the general public.)

Arriving at the site, you will see an abundance of ancient petroglyphs carved into the stunning rock cliff formations. Many of the carvings predate the arrival of any white explorers or settlers. You’ll also hike to a location where Native American Indians (Yavapai Apache) crafted pottery pieces by hand, remnants of which still litter the canyon floor.

Also included is a moderate trek up onto a small mountain where you will see ancient stone ruins, some old abandoned ranch buildings and the popular, Musical Rocks. This incredible vantage point provides a panoramic view of the surrounding area.

As your guide, Don will give a running commentary on the history of the area. With any luck, you may see wild animals such as deer, elk, javelina, coyotes, antelope or wild burro on your journey!

$150 for up to 3 guests

$175 for 4 guests or more

(Payment is due at the time of the scheduled tour.)

The tour takes approximately 4 - 4.5 hours. Guests are expected to bring their own snacks and drinks.

This activity has been very popular with our travelers and a bonus highlight for many who’ve stayed with us!

Beautiful, secluded, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family stayed at this beautiful ranch in early June. The home is extremely clean and well cared for and decorated/furnished with such lovey attention to detail. There were many games and a pool table to entertain our kiddos as well. Our 8-year old daughter kept exclaiming that she felt as though she was staying in a 'palace' :-)

The property/surrounding area is amazing - my favorite time of day was enjoying my coffee each morning sitting on the porch while watching the sunrise.

The owners were wonderful, so attentive and helpful and accessible for general inquiries. Upon our arrival Don met us at the home and gave us a quick tour and answered all of our questions.

I really can't stress adequately enough how clean, lovely, and obviously very well-cared for that the home was. We enjoyed our stay very much.

If I had one note to mention for families who are looking to tour around northern Arizona - the location was a little more remote than I anticipated (although we made the best of it and enjoyed the sights on our road trips!). The Grand Canyon was a convenient drive but most other places of interest where we went involved a 2.5 - 3 hour drive (Fossil Creek, Page, Jerome). That being said, I'd still recommend this property!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful review of our home! We work very hard to provide the exact experience you described for all our guests. We’re so happy to read your thoughtful remarks about your stay and we hope you think to visit us again, someday! Ultimately, there are more places to explore in Northern Arizona than can be experienced in a week's stay. Guests make individual choices on what is most important to them to see and do, determining how best to invest their time. Also, because this is the Wild West, with vast open plains, heavily wooded forests, and diverse desert features (it really is unique), destinations are much more spread out than in other parts of the country. (Even the major city of Phoenix requires a little drive time to get from one part of the Valley to another.) Below is a list of several points of interest, within 2 hours distance, most commonly included as excursions by our guests: — South Rim of the Grand Canyon (1 hr 45 min Northeast) — Williams and the Grand Canyon Railroad on Route 66 — which also provides the seasonal, Polar Express Experience (50 min East ) — Bearizona (1 hr East) — Grand Canyon Caverns on Route 66 (50 min West) — Flagstaff (1 hr 30 min East) — Laughlin — with boating on the Colorado River and Lake Mohave (1 hr 36 min West) — The little town of Oatman on Route 66 (1 hr 45 min West) — Petroglyph Valley Tour — exclusive access provided by the owner — (20 min South) — The little town of Seligman is famous for Route 66 and has a couple of kitschy 1950s-style diners (25 min East) — Sedona (2 hrs Southeast) — Hoover Dam (2 hrs Northwest)

Great get away.

  • 5 of 5

Coming of a week trade show it was a great get away from everyone to cycle down. We went to the Grand Canyon and took the Personal tour that the owner gave us on the Working Ranch. We saw old Indian art and enjoying and nice hike. Climed some small cliffs and enjoyed some nice stories and history. 4hrs and enjoyed every minute.

About Don, Carolyn, and Nancy

My husband and I have been savoring the beauty of the Juniper Mountains since 2004. We've been renting both our home and guest cabin (431984) through VRBO for several years and enjoy a steady flow of guests from all over the world. We've just added a second cozy cabin (1157197) for a total of three distinct units! Each one of our properties is custom-built and the setting is amazing.

We have four children, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, who live somewhat scattered along the west side of the continent.

Don and I live on the 80 acres nearby with our Border Collie mix, Roxy, and Papillon, Sam. Although we will both be here to greet you when you arrive for your stay, initial point of contact will be handled by our daughter, Nancy.

Don, Carolyn, and Nancy purchased this house in 2007

Why Don, Carolyn, and Nancy chose Seligman

It's a little piece of paradise. This property is peaceful, quiet, and away from it all, but centrally located to all the attractions.
