Private Villa, Pool, Stunning 180° Ocean View, near English Harbour

Bedrooms 3
Space 3,500 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Villa, 3 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 3 Baths, (Sleeps up to 6)

Point of View is privately owned, solar powered home on one completely fenced and gated acre. It is comprised of a main living building, and separate bedroom building. Below the main building is the caretaker's unit. While it affords privacy, the caretakers are nearby should you need them. Additionally, another building houses the ballet studio and includes a full bath. Studio can also be used as a bedroom for another couple, with queen bed.

This home was originally built in 1989, and expanded over the years to what it is today. It includes a beautiful private pool with large sunny deck, and poolhouse, which includes a small kitchen area, under the counter refrigerator, and a gas grill.

The living area of the house consists of a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, 3/4 bath, day room (with queen bed), and living room that opens to a deck/patio area.

The bedroom building is connected to the main house by a breezeway and consists of the master bedroom (king bed) with sitting area, and separate deck overlooking the pool and fantastic view of Montserrat. There is also a small bedroom with bunk beds. The master bath has a large round tub, partially outside, and surrounded by a stone wall for privacy.

Built on a hill, stone stairways connect all the buildings. The lower building on the property is our beautiful, breezy workout studio with a mirrored wall on one side & windows overlooking an unobstructed ocean view on the opposite side. Wooden louvres on the E & W walls allow the breeze to blow across the room as you work out. It has an outside deck with built in benches on both sides. It also can be used as a completely separate bedroom (queen bed)

If you like hiking, one of Antigua's FINEST beaches, 'Rendezvous'., is about a 30-45 minute walk away. Pack a lunch, throw a few drinks in your backpack and head off.

Proper shoes a must as the trail is a bit up and down and steep in the beginning. You can also drive there around the back side of the hill, if you have 4WD.

If you are a horse rider, check out Antigua Equestrian Center. Just up the road, arrangements can be made to ride to the beach and see some of the back parts of our beautiful island.

For nightlife, English Harbour is just a 15 minute drive around to the other side of Falmouth Harbour. There are several excellent restaurants for you to choose from, and our caretakers can assist you with making reservations. Sunday evening everyone heads to Shirley Heights. Watch the sunset, have a rum punch and listen to the steel band, all while overlooking beautiful English and Falmouth Harbours.

And don't miss downtown St. John's. After a bit of shopping, check out Big Banana's 'Pizzas in Paradise' for pizza and a cool drink, in Redcliffe Quay.

After you have exhausted yourself shopping and arrive back to Point of View, well-laden with souvenirs and trinkets, you can end your day with a dip in the pool and a sunset drink. As the sun sets into the horizon, you may even see a green flash!

The house is unscreened, open-air and breeze cooled and the house communicates to the outdoors as if it were one. All the rooms are additionally cooled by overhead fans.

Keywords: Gated 1 acre property with view of Falmouth Harbour, lush gardens, breezy ballet studio, caretaker on premises. Close to beach and English Harbour restaurants.

About Gina

Originally from California, I made my home in Antigua from 1986 til 2008. My family now lives in Aiken, South Carolina, with 4 horses, 3 dogs, and 2 cats.

Gina purchased this villa in 1989

Why Gina chose World

280 degree ocean view....was hard to pass up.

What makes this villa unique

I built this house from the rocks up, taking care to locate each building in a way to catch the wonderful breezes and take advantage of the beautiful views. We like to think we did o.k.!

Amazing place

  • 5 of 5

Had the pleasure of staying here in Aug-17.

The place is a perfect secluded hideaway, for either an extravagant individual or couple, but with plenty of room for bigger groups!

Situated atop the hill, its away from any disturbances, but only a short hop to a couple of bars and shops for supplies.

And only 15 mins away is Shirley Heights for Sunday evening fun, and Nelsons Dockyard for things to do.

Randy and Sarah are a pleasure to have on hand if you need any advice or a steer as to where to go, a favourite beach or restaurant etc, but are equally happy to fade into the background like they arent there - and give you the space and privacy you want.

Highly recommended - and i'll be sure to go back sometime soon!

Amazing cliff top villa with incredible views

  • 5 of 5

Where to begin? We've just returned home from an incredible holiday in Antigua staying at Point of View. The villa was absolutely perfect - loads of space; fantastic views along the coast, out to sea and also back towards English Harbor; beautiful flowers throughout the garden; big pool; well equipped kitchen....the list goes on.

There is no air conditioning, but there was a constant breeze which kept us cool (we slept at night with the windows open which was absolutely fine).

We have two young kids (10 and 12) who loved being able to run around the garden and play in the pool.

The location is great - tons to do in English Harbour, lots of amazing beaches nearby (we went to 10 in the course of 8 days and every one was simply amazing), lots of restaurants (several were closed as we went in low season, but there was still plenty of choice.)

Last but not least, Sarah and Randy who manage the villa were absolutely fabulous. Great fun, really really helpful and not at all intrusive - I managed to leave the lights on in our rental car which drained the battery and Randy provided a charger. When this didn't work he went to get jump leads ...and when these didn't work he arranged for the hire car company (Vernon's , who are great by the way) to bring a spare battery.).

Thank you for a truly memorable holiday!!

We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Property.. Great Hosts!

  • 5 of 5

The property at Falmouth Harbor is beautifully well kept with amazing ocean and harbor views. The owner and caretakers were very professional and friendly and made sure that every detail was given special attention. The separate bedroom building is where my husband and I stayed and the bed was super comfy. I was worried I would be too hot at night but the breezes were always flowing and it was quite comfortable. I got used to the tree frog sounds after the first night! We drove to Jolly beach and Turners beach which are white sand beaches and quite nice. If you like boating, you can reserve a catamaran or fishing trip at Jolly Harbor (and return there to board the boats). The road through the rainforest is the best way to go and is a better road than some of the others. The snorkeling was great as the reefs are in tact and there was a wide variety of colorful fish and beautiful corral. We went deep sea fishing and caught barracuda! That was a first for both of us! Randy and Sarah are highly knowledgeable about the area and people and if they make recommendations, it would be wise to consider them as they do know the area best. They are the nicest, most genuine people and will make your stay a success. It’s a huge bonus having someone there to assist you in navigating a different country. We rented our 4-wheeler through Vernon’s Taxi and they were also first class. They picked us up from the airport and drove us to the house with the rental waiting for us and picked us up and returned us to the airport at the end of the trip. The vacation was a real adventure so if you’re up for one, you will be happy you selected Point of View for your stay in Antigua.

Owner's Response: Ann, The feeling is definitely mutual! You were superb guests. We loved the way you experienced the island in multiple ways, seeing and doing so much. Vacationers who really get out and explore are the ones who have the most fun and memorable holidays. And yet you also made time to just unwind by the pool or on the deck just taking in the fabulous view. We love to see our guests truly enjoying Antigua and her people. Have to say it again, we just love seeing your smiling faces! Looking forward to meeting again. And, yes, Vernon's is the best, such great personal service! They take all the stress out of connecting from the airport to the villa and will even stop and wait at the grocery store for you! All the best, thanks for the wonderful review and for staying at Point of View! Sarah and Randy

Hidden Gem...

  • 5 of 5

The Point of View Villa is hands down the best secret spot in Antigua and I’m not doing myself any favors by telling everyone about it! When friends ask how was the family vacation, I just smile…. One of the most compelling reasons that we love it so much is that you can venture out to one of 365 beaches or just stay on the property (we did both and split the day up) … The kitchen is ideal for preparing and cooking (5 of us). They also have a gas grill and gazebo next to an in-ground pool which has the most breath taking views on the entire island! If you’re searching for a private home and not sure which one to choose, stop looking and book The POV with Gina, Sarah and Randy (Fantastic people BTW!) There’s no doubt you’re going to love it … We’re heading back again next Spring! Note: The reviews that you're reading from former guests are as honest and as accurate as we can possibly describe...

Villa in the Sun

  • 5 of 5

There is no doubt that this property has one of THE best locations on the island. Very private, with views right across Falmouth Harbour to the mountain backdrop in one direction, and out across the Caribbean Sea to the SW in the other direction - so perfect for rum punch sundowners! Very attractve stone-built design and layout, although there are a lot of steps to negotiate for guests on the lower level. Good sized pool and perfect temperature. Ideal for self-catering, with a well-stocked supermarket at the bottom of the hill. Quite an interesting approach road up the steep hillside which of course gives the fabulous views, but 4WD essential! The caretakers, Randy and Sarah, are brilliant hosts and are on site 24/7 to attend to all needs. If we should return to the island in the future, there is only one place we would want to stay - Point of View.

Heavenly Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place to get away, and have a peaceful stress free vacation. The pictures look amazing but let us tell you... it is far better in person. When we arrived we were "so taken back" with the beauty, privacy and of course the spectacular panoramic views surrounding us, the stone work, the pool and how massive the place was. We felt like we were at our own little resort.

We found tranquility, and so much more than we imagined. We had quiet times with a few cocktails by the pool just gazing out at that spectacular view, it felt like it was just us and the ocean.

The way I can describe waking up for the first time in that open air bedroom is ( and this was a first for both of us) like waking up in a honeymoon suite.. in that comfortable bed.. with the netting over us and there it was… that panoramic ocean view and nothing but QUIET and tropical birds. Sun shining and the ocean looked like sparkling diamonds. asighhh

I will always remember that moment and saying to my Fiancé “Is this for real?” This is the nicest place we have ever stayed in.( We do a fair bit of travel) Open air is so freeing ,our doors and windows were open all night. It was safe and quite romantic. The breeze, comfy bed.. bliss

Morning coffee is our favourite time at home and on vacation. So fun to walk right out of our (large bedroom suite)with no doors in the way, down the cute little steps, into the house which has a full kitchen, bathroom, living room, extra rooms . Bright, big deck, TV and beautiful furnishings.

Randy and Sarah are the caretakers(living in a separate house) and they are the friendliest most loving couple that you will ever meet. Their mission is make you feel relaxed, and help you with whatever you need. Their genuine commitment is ensuring your stay is worry free begins "the moment you arrive". We found their recommendations for beaches, restaurants and shopping to be invaluable. Thanks guys we think your just great, looking forward to seeing you next time.
