About Greg Galliano

My wife Melanie and I purchased this home as a weekend getaway, and a base of operation for a mountain bike touring hosting business. If you want to ride, we can show you all the best rides. We found ourselves driving from Portland to Hood River every weekend for our outdoor adventures. We soon learned that we NEEDED a home in Hood River. Please come stay and enjoy some time here, but please treat it like it's your own.

Greg Galliano purchased this townhome in 2011

Why Greg Galliano chose Mt. Hood, The Gorge

We chose Hood River because it's the happiest place on earth! If the weather in Portland isn't great, drive east for 50 miles and we guarantee it will improve. But no matter where you're traveling from, you'll be hooked by HR.

Last year we ran into a couple at Double Mountain Brewery. They were just passing through the area and stopped to do a bike ride. When we met them they were on day three of their 'quick stop' and asking us where they could find jobs in town. And how much homes cost. Needless to say HR got the best of them in under 24 hrs.

What makes this townhome unique

Panoramic river views, walk to town, ride to the ride, peep the kite beach from your deck, short drive to all the things I've already mentioned. Open floor plan with million dollar views. Without the price tag.

Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend with friends and had such a great time! The owners were easy to work with and very friendly!

The unit was much bigger than expected. Plenty of room for people to hang out in and not feel cramped. When vacation renting, I have occasionally run into problems with there not being enough supplies, towels, extra pillows/blankets etc. We had none of those issues with this property. We were able to cook a couple of meals over the weekend and they had everything needed in order to do so (the grill is a big plus). They have TONS of books and dvd's (great variety), and a big TV with cable to watch all the football our hearts desired.

With it being a short walk from town, this was a perfect location for us. If we wanted to grab a coffee in the morning, we could walk there and if we wanted to go down to the river, it was a 5 minute drive.

I went for a run on our last day and from the property, there is very easy access to Old Columbia Hwy State park, where the views are absolutely breathtaking.

It was very clean, well supplied, an easy process, great owners and a great location. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Not quite up to expectations.

  • 3 of 5

I concur with the others, about the owner being a good guy, and easy to work with. The location is quite good, two and half baths is appreciated. If you want to watch TV, there are a lot of channels. The view is half river front, and half neighbor's roof, The furniture needs an update, and the very strong odor of pet required us to leave the windows open. After staying in about seven other units, in and around Hood River, for the price, this unit is really less than average,

Owner's Response: Hello John. Sorry to hear your stay was anything less than perfect! We take all feedback seriously and hate to hear anything wasn't perfect. We've owned the units for two years and have never allowed pets in them during our ownership. Unless someone had a pet in there without our knowledge. Upon reading your review I had the carpets professionally cleaned. Thanks for letting us know! The nature of Hood River being situated on a hillside is sometimes you have to look beyond roofs below you to enjoy the sights! Thanks for the feedback! Greg & Melanie

Perfect for a girl's mountain bike trip!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience with this rental! The house was clean and comfortable. The owner was great to work with. We came down for a mountain biking weekend and were more than happy to find the owner an experienced mountain biker with aspirations of guiding. It was awesome! It was the easiest rental experience by far! Highly recommended by all of us!

Owner's Response: It was great having you ladies stay in our place! And letting me use you as my mountain bike guinea pigs! You were all troopers. And most importantly. You all made it back in one piece., with huge smiles. Making my duties easy. Thanks for visiting. Come again!

4th of July Rental

  • 5 of 5

Very nice owners. They were vacationing in the adjacent unit a number of days that we were there. Went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Brought a new couch for the living room while were were there and an additional fan in case of hot weather. Genuinely working to make our stay pleasurable. Master bed is very comfortable. Great view of Kite Beach which is nice for checking conditions. For mountain bikers, owners have decorated the place with nicely composed and artistc pictures they have taken of many of the mountain bike trails in the area. They are a great resource if you are looking for biking trails in the area.
