Beautiful views, beautiful home!
We stayed here the last week of June. It was a beautiful house - perfect for our extended family of 4 adults and 2 kids.
Lovely interior - but make sure everyone is on the same sleep schedule
My wife and I rented this house and invited our three late teen, early twenties kids to each bring a friend. We were seven in all and could have slept a couple of more. But beware: the cool looking exposed joist ceilings have zero sound absorption. You can hear normal conversation right through the floor boards. We like to go to bed around 11; the kids will stay up till 2 or 3. We could not sleep because of the chatter coming though the floor. I had to blast a white noise program full blast to cancel it out.
At low tide a distinct smell floats up from the salt marsh bordering the cove. I did not like it but no one else seemed to mind.
The patio and plantings out back needs to be groomed. It wasn't the most inviting place to hangout. It's quite a drop to the cove through some overgrown brush. We ventured down once but didn't bother after that. There were a lot of gypsy moth caterpillars this June, but that's a year-to-year thing.
If you go early in the season, make sure to ask for the outdoor shower to be turned on and the grill brought out. I had to do both myself.
The house is near Route 6 but the road noise was tolerable. It's not what I would call "well set back". And only in winter are any rooms "drenched with sunlight". The kitchen and bathrooms are nice. The french doors in the dining room and master bedroom let in a wonderful breeze: probably the best feature.
BTW: In summer you don't get "spectacular Wellfleet sunsets" over the cove from where this house is located.
It's a nice house but next time we will look for something with a more open back yard and walking distance to some local activities. You have to drive everywhere, but then again that's not unusual for the cape.
