Quaint well located gem in Lucca!

  • 4 of 5

Tastefully decorated apartment that makes the most of the space. Well equipped. Unfortunately a little dark. Liz was a truly wonderful host. She spent time giving us tips about Lucca. The highlight of our stay were the multiple bike rides that we took along the wall. We would love to come back!

Owner's Response: Thank you Simon! My apologies, I have become very "Italian" and leave the exterior shutters closed in the "Nonna" fashion ... allowing privacy from neighbours across, but still able to people watch below and it does reduce light. Next time I will make sure they are fully open, and the apartment then is always full of sunshine. Its an Italian thing these closed shutters! Warm Regards and safe travels! Liz

What a wonderful apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Our second stay in Lucca. Apartment was beautiful. Very tastefully decorated, cosy and perfect for our needs. Liz was very helpful and was happy to answer any questions throughout our stay. Ricardo in the wine shop below was very knowledgeable and helpful in choosing wines. Will definitely return.

Beautiful apartment

  • 5 of 5

A really wonderful apartment which is extremely well designed and equipped. Liz, the owner was very helpful and kept in good communication during the booking stage. We loved the location and a great wine shop, gelateria and bakery selling excellent foccacia was only a few steps from the front door. The apartment is so beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated, it was hard to leave. A definite apartment to return to.

Hidden Jewel Nestled in Old World Charm

  • 5 of 5

Hidden in the center of Lucca , a two minute walk through the arches to the wall surrounding this ancient city lies "Adagio", a tastefully decorated, charming one bedroom apartment with all the amenities need for a day, a week or a month ! The owner, Liz, has paid attention to the finest detail and is a superb resource for everything you need to successfully explore the city and the surrounding Tuscany country side with its spectacular villas and mansions as werll as area of untouched nature.Within walking distance are many medieval churches, art galleries, historical museums, upscale shopping, nightly free classical concerts and also venues for international jazz and rock festivals. Immediately below is a fine wine shop where owner Ricardo will fully educate you about Tuscany's finest wines. Across the street is a delightful place for morning cappuccino and cafes and restaurants are within two to ten minute walks away on the ancient cobblestone streets.

If you want an authentic experience of immersion in Italian culture at its finest then Adagio is your beautiful nest to begin and end your daily experience.

Adagio was beyond My Expectations !

  • 5 of 5

My three-week stay in Europe would include visiting dear friends in Greece with a stopover in Lucca on the way home. Since I was travelling alone it was important to find a place to stay in Lucca that was safe, relaxing, centrally located and offered lots of character. Adagio was absolutely the perfect choice. Let me explain why...

Liz was the most charming host. Upon my arrival she met me at the apartment and leisurely showed me everything I needed to know. Her suggestions on where to eat that evening proved most helpful since it was not only close but offered friendly service and great food... perfect ending for a long day of travel. Throughout my stay she was available for all my questions.

The apartment was charming, decorated with the magic touch of Liz's creative works. It felt like being home away from home. Although small, the apartment included absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay and more...

To my delight, Liz's husband Giuseppe (Extra Virgin Cooking Classes) offers professional cooking classes in a casual setting at their private home. I understand you can also take the classes in their private villa located outside of town. It was a fun and totally informative day.

In addition, if there are any art students out there, please know there is a wonderful studio (Studio Borgo) located minutes by train in Borgo a Mozzano where you can schedule painting classes. I am a beginner and to my surprise created a couple of paintings that I actually framed!

Finally after having a busy schedule while in Lucca you can understand how "coming home" to Adagio was a welcoming haven to rest my tired bones. Thank you to Liz and Giuseppe for making my stay most enjoyable.
