Overview

About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Full Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

It is a sunny and elegant apartment in the historical Marais, just close to the Picasso Museum!!!

Recently restored by an Italian architect, the apartment is on the second floor (with lift) of a nice building of the late 1800’s. In the large living room there are a comfortable sofa, an antique fireplace, an LCD Sony TV and a fascinating “table de coup” built in Paris at the beginning of the XX century. The kitchen, linked to the living, is modern and furnished of all electrical appliances (dishwasher, washer dryer, microwave, coffee machine, etc). In the two bedrooms the large beds (160X200 cm) and the refined, colorful wallpapers create a warm, cosy and relaxing atmosphere... absolutely unique! The two bathrooms, one en-suite, have got showers, one has also got a bidet. The living room and one bedroom, full of light and sun thanks to the high and large windows, overlooks the shadowy courtyard of a school and old beautiful church. During the good season and in school hours the young children spend their breaks in the open.

The old restored parquet is one of the many elements of “charme” of this apartment which melts the modern and the antique, the bright colours and the pure white, the fonctionality and the elegance of the spaces. The exceptional location in the central part of the Marais offers the possibility to reach museum, parks, sites of interest, restaurants mostly at a walking distance. And, of course, shopping, shopping, shopping!

High speed internet connection and wifi, notebook, free calls to landline, cable television, dvd player and cd player / radio, washer / dryer.

In the very center of Paris-Le Marais, close to Historic places and Museums, Restaurants and Shops!

Keywords: “La Perle du Marais”, a sunny and elegant apartment in the historical Marais, just close to the Picasso Museum!

Making unique the apartment, the walls are embellished with beautiful silkscreens signed by the most important and prestigious illustrators in the world: Hugo Pratt, the Pulitzer Prize-winner Art Spiegelman, the master of the comic strip José Muñoz, Lorenzo Mattotti (Le Monde, New Yorker ...) and the great Guido Scarabottolo.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Together with our friends (i.e. 2 couples) we had an excellent 1 week in Paris and in particular we really enjoyed the stay in your beautiful apartment

The location was excellent and we walked everywhere including easy access to such places as The Louvre, Notre Dame, St Germaine, the Latin Quarter, the Seine etc and we had many close by options for cafes and restuarants.

The interior décor of the apartment was very welcoming and friendly and everything we needed was available

Jocelyne met us on arrival and again at departure and her service was also excellent.

Many thanks and we hope to see you again the near future as we will for sure return to Paris again.

Bright and cheerful

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with his sister and a good friend of ours stayed here last June. Great location /neighborhood. From here you can walk to everything. And a fantastic tony market on the ground floor. We used the pull out couch which my friend said was very comfortable. The apartment was spotless - key factor when I book a VRBO- that and location. Francesca was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Washer/dryer and clothes drying rack was a bonus as my husband and I had already been in Europe for a week. Bottom line, a great value if you value location, appearance, comfort, an informed and caring contact person, and a decent price point. We were pleased.

Excellent Location and Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed in the apartment for several nights in September. We loved the location, within walking distance to many good restaurants, museums, and sites. Each of the two bathrooms had toilets and showers. The kitchen is small, but had everything we needed. The washer/dryer worked well. The hosts put together a binder with information about the area, (and information about the appliances), in English, which was very helpful. There is a school adjacent to the apartment, and the kids' playground is just below the apartment windows. There was typical playground noise at various times throughout the weekdays. Each bedroom had a floor fan that worked great to drown out any noise.

Catherine was very helpful and easy to communicate with. She met us upon our arrival, and was available by phone when questions came up. There is a small market next door to the apartment entrance. We were very pleased with our stay, and would love to go back.

Couldn't be more perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our 4 day 5 night stay at this lovely apartment was absolutely perfect! I will attempt to sum up all the things we loved about it.

1. First of all, it was very easy to coordinate with Francesca by email, both on arrival and before departure. She even made the arrangements for a taxi that would fit our family of 5 with luggage to go to the airport. (We took the Eurostar from London to Paris and that couldn't have been any easier! We were able to buy our museum passes at the tourist desk at Gare du Nord before catching a taxi to the apartment...at 75euros we may have been overcharged by the taxi driver though).

2. The location of the apartment was an easy walk to the Rambuteau Metro -- maybe 10-15 minutes -- and an easy ride on the train from there to tourist locations. The Marais is a great place just to walk and window shop or, if you choose, actually buy something at the unique boutiques and shops. There are also plenty of restaurants to eat, although you will find restaurants quite pricey albeit with excellent food. It was a short walk to the G20 Supermarche and we cooked dinner several times and had breakfast in the apartment every morning to save time and money. I was debating about Marais or the 7th and was very glad we chose the Marais as it felt like a great little neighborhood. The location felt very safe and quiet at night and was right next door to a school. We had no concerns letting our teenage daughters walk around together without us during the day. We also had no concerns arriving back in the evening after a dinner out or late sightseeing.

3. The apartment itself was a perfect size for our family of 5, including kids ages 17, 15 and 11. It was very cozy and the charming decor added to our enjoyment! There were 2 very comfortable queen bedrooms and our son slept well on the pull out couch. The bathrooms were well equipped, as was the kitchen, and we felt quite at home. As other reviewers have said, you really only needed to buy whatever food you chose to eat. Coffee maker, microwave, pots and pans, dishwasher, dishes and cutlery, wine bottle opener (with a very nice bottle of wine) were all there and in good shape.

The only thing we lacked on this trip was time! 4 days was a great start, but we could very easily have stayed another 4 days and not been bored or tired of being in Paris. I would highly recommend this apartment and hope to return to our home away from home in Marais in the future!

Repeat Stay

  • 5 of 5

This was the second stay for us in Francesca's beautiful apartment. There were 4 in our family group, so having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms was ideal. Everything is covered, from coffee maker in the kitchen to laundry powder for washing ( and a welcome bottle of wine). Location is superb, and having a lift helped get all our luggage up to the apartment!

Catherine provides recommendations for cafes, bakeries for the all important baguette for breakfast etc.

Highly recommend. Entire booking process was very easy.

Ottimo appartamento

  • 5 of 5

Lovely apartment

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in July 2016. The apartment was spacious and welcoming. With 5 people we used the sofa bed for one of the kids. Lovely to be greeted with a bottle of wine from Francesca. Apartment was fully equipped so we could cook meals.

We had trouble trying to phone home to Australia but Catherine came and sorted that out for us, spending some time on the phone to the telco provider. Once sorted it was great being able to call home for free. The follow up Catherine was great.

Appreciated the washing machine (find it a must have travelling with kids and minimal clothes!) and the lift (although small was ideal for my dad who has troubles with steps and getting luggage up and down to apartment.) small grocery shop around corner which was handy. Not far to walk to Pompidou Centre.

Hosts were wonderful letting us drop our bags off early ( we arrived at 9am via train from Italy) and coming back after place was cleaned. Communication prior to checkin was excellent with our questions being answered quickly.

Apartment overlooks a school yard, but think we were there in break time as we didn't seem to hear much from it. We were out everyday so only in during the evening.

Apartment is about 5-10min walk from subway. Be very AWARE of your bags and pickpockets.

Would highly recommend this property! We would love to stay again if we make it back to Paris.
