About Sandra and Martin Button

My husband and I both have very busy schedules that include lots of travel and the day-to-day requirements of running our own companies. We come to Lopez to rejuvinate and spend time with our family. I grew up in Seattle and have a deep appreciation for all the Pacific Northwest has to offer. We love to fish, hike, kayak, snoop around the village, cook, and spend time here unplugged from the demands of our hectic lives. This is our dream house and we are sure you will enjoy its charms as much as we do.

Family with four teens loved your home

  • 5 of 5

We have rented a number of homes on Lopez Island and hope to be back in yours in the future. Not only was there plenty of room to spread out , but there were also great spaces for us all to be together to cook, play board games, etc. Your home is very well appointed, with up-to-date and well-maintained appliances, a well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds. Your house is on a quiet street, but is only a 10-minute drive to Lopez Village with its shopping and restaurants. The west-facing view and large deck (with hot tub) meant we enjoyed beautiful sunsets every evening. Terry, your property manager, is extremely helpful and responsive. I would definitely recommend this home to any families looking to spend quality time together in a beautiful space.

Fabulous getaway for our whole family

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Channel House for our family to come together for our wedding. It couldn't have been more perfect. There was private places for couples to retreat and a truly amazing kitchen and space for entertaining! We spent time on the deck, on the beach - we couldn't have imagined a more wonderful place to share with our family and friends to celebrate our wedding!!

Beautiful and well set up home, perfect for girls weekend

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Channel House. The property was stunning, looking out to a beautiful view over the water and beachfront access. The house was perfectly set up for a great weekend for friends with plenty of open gathering space and bedrooms. The bedrooms were particularly well setup, with two of the bedrooms further away from gathering spaces for those who wanted some quiet time or to head to sleep early. Loved our stay and can't wait to come back!

We keep going back!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been visiting Channel House now for 6 years (I first reviewed it here in 2011).

First, I love Lopez Island. It is a laid-back, quiet, beautiful, relaxing place to be. We have so much fun visiting here. This trip we hiked to 4 different beaches; Shark Reef park has lots of seals and sea lions barking on the rocks and playing in the water, Watmough Bay hike is so peaceful and tranquil with the most beautiful, cyan bay you'll ever see, and we spent time searching the beach for agates at Agate Beach before hiking out to Iceberg Point. We also wandered through town and even though it's not very big we were able to waste hours in the shops like Paper Scissors on the Rock and the bookstore. And believe it or not my son loves to go to the dump on weekends where they have the island version of "one persons trash is another persons treasure".

Second, I decided it was time update my review of the house since so much has changed and all for the better. The owners have done a remarkable job of renovating the kitchen area - it is well stocked from crockpot to knives. The island is huge and the two dishwashers make cleaning up after a crowd a breeze. Between the table and the island it is easy for feed a group - I was here last spring with a ladies group of 12 - and set a beautiful table. The bathrooms have been upgraded and the rooms all have comfortable bedding and fun decor. The new hot-tub (a couple years ago) was a welcome upgrade, the kids could spend all day in it. There is a huge yard - perfect for all kinds of games. But the best is wandering down to the beach for a stroll either north to Big Rock or south to the boulders (turn them over to see the little crabs scurry), then head back for a cocktail on the wrap-around sunny deck and enjoy the sunset.
