About Alexandra Lee

My family loves the outdoor, and although we acquired the property in 2010, we have been going to Big Bear for many years. Its a great place to make memories. Our kids love hiking in the summer and snow boarding in the winter.

Alexandra Lee purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Alexandra Lee chose Big Bear Lake

We wanted a vacation home that we could use often, and Big Bear is only 60 miles from us. And since we love the outdoor, it made sense to buy here.

What makes this cabin unique

Its very close to the slopes, so taking our kids snowboarding is very easy. There's also a good area just 1 minute walk from our house where the kids can go sledding. Plus its so close to the lake that it makes taking our boat out during the summer easy.

Great Location, Great House and Great Price!!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for our New Year Holidays and inside it is even bigger than shown on photos. House has all necessary amenities for active winter travelers. Kitchen is big and Living room has a lot of space to fit all guests and a Fireplace is a cozy place to sit around. There are also a lot of VHS and Table games in the Living Room so you will never get bored! And what I liked the most is a view from windows! Every morning I enjoyed sunrise and Big Bear slopes while preparing ourselves for snowboarding. Great location and great price! Thank you Alexandra for such a wonderful Holidays!

Not what we expected.

  • 1 of 5

Sad to say but we were very disappointed by the Cozy Cabin. Upon arrival we noticed that the stairs and porch are in need of repair and paint. The cabin is desperate for an HGTV makeover. New paint, carpet and linoleum are definitely needed. The "completely stocked kitchen" is a mismatch of thrift store pots, pans and dishes. The appliances are new. I opened the oven to find two cookie sheets filled with bacon grease which had splattered on the door. I took a picture and sent it to the owner who offered to have the cleaning crew return, I declined. I have washed dishes in my time, no big deal I thought except for the long black hair on the sink mat, gross. YES I took pictures. There were no dish towels. The kitchen also reeked of mold. Off to the store to buy a lemon for the garbage disposal, Febreeze for the house and a deodorizer for under the sink. We had to buy body soap as there was none, only mismatched towels and no bathmat. When it was time to sleep, our family in the downstairs bedrooms complained of all the noise from upstairs. We pulled out the sofa to make up the bed only to find VOMIT on the bedsheets!! YES I took pictures and now requested a refund. I did not hear from Alexandra until the next day. She offered to have the incompetent cleaners return. I declined again. There was not an abundance of extra bedding either. We made do. The pullout is so thin the springs dig into your body making this unsleepable and should not be considered an extra bed. We slept on top of the sofa and love seat the following night. She requests when leaving to wash the towels and leave them in the dryer. There was NO laundry soap. And then the belt broke in the washer, go figure. Alexandra did state that one of the heaters was not working properly. I told her my husband who works for SDGE would take a look. He said it works fine, it is just extremely dirty with dust and lint and recommended she get a professional cleaner. We were not expecting the Ritz, but my family does own 8 rentals! by the beach and they all look like model homes complete with matching dishes, towels, sheets, games, bikes, wine, fire logs, etc. You get the picture. To her credit, Alexandra was easy to work with, apologetic and gave me a 1 night refund although I believe we deserved a FULL refund. Cabin is close to the mountain and the views are beautiful. I am baffled though as to who actually wrote all the great reviews because this is NOT what we expected.

Owner's Response: First of all, let me address the main issue at hand, which was the cleanliness of the cabin. It was an issue with the cleaning crew and for that I was very apologetic to the renter. Upon hearing about the oven and pull out bed, I immediately responded that night (not the next day). Just like if a pipe burst or the heater wasn't working, I treated the situation as an emergency and offered to bring in cleaners to re-clean the entire place. The renter refused and demanded a refund, which I did accommodate 1 night as I felt very bad and responsible. But I don’t feel her demand for a full refund is justified as she would not allow me to fix the problem but still wanted to stay the entire time. I did what I felt was fair for both parties. I’ve been using that cleaning company for many years and up until then have been very reliable (as you can tell from many of my other reviews). To address this issue for future renters, I now have a new cleaning crew. Let me now address all the other complaints from the renter, which I feel was very unfairly rated. Aside from the cleanliness, all her complaints were cosmetic in nature. My place is a cabin in the mountains. It has a cabin feel. It is not meant to be a 5-star hotel with tons of upgrades and amenities. Nor do I market it that way. The renter saw the pictures and description of my cabin, which is very reflective of what it offers - a small, cozy cabin at reasonable rates for those who love the outdoors. (In fact some of my reviews say the cabin actually looks better than the pictures). Due to extreme weather conditions in the mountains there will be some wear and tear to the exterior. The carpet is older, but professionally carpet cleaned annually. The kitchen and bathrooms are fully stocked. Extra bedsheets are in the bathroom, but the renter didn’t want to give me the time of day to explain where they were located. Given her standards and behavior (e.g. mentioning that she has 8 rentals by the beach), I’m not sure why she rented from me as I aim to provide affordable lodging in a wonderful location. Paying for a more expensive place would have better suited her situation. Overall I really am sincerely sorry about the cleaning issue and can only hope that it never happens again.

Perfect winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

Stayed 3 days, 2 nights and our weekend away just wasn't enough. The view was beautiful and we didn't even have to leave as there was snow just outside the cabin. It was a lot more spacious then we had expected, very cozy, great size master bath, laundry room, the heaters worked really good, internet worked great and the cabin was very clean. We definitely will be back again.

This cabin was perfect! Very clean, great location and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We really liked that the bedrooms where downstairs, so we could put the children to sleep and then play games, watch movies and relax upstairs. The heaters worked great for the cold nights. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Lovely Stay!

  • 4 of 5

It's a quaint home, leading to a very pleasant stay. The location was perfect, the view is outstanding and makes up for any imperfections of this place. The kids loved the snow play just around the corner better than going to the tube park. Alex is great! Cell connection was a bit shady, but as soon as there was connection, Alex was quick to responded and very helpful. I couldn't ask for better management. Thank you!
