About Millicent Ambroggio
We are a busy family of 6 from Colorado.
Millicent Ambroggio purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Millicent Ambroggio chose Saint Mary's
This is our vacation home too! We love being in the mountains and this cabin is private but still close to our family and friends in Denver. We get the best of both worlds here!
What makes this Cabin unique
Every morning we get up and play games in our pajamas instead of watching cartoons. We love the family time together without the interruption and distraction of electronics. This past summer we all went rafting and had a blast. When we want a night out, Idaho Springs is so close with lots of great places to eat and shop.

Beautiful "treehouse" getaway
This cabin is heavenly and exactly what I was hoping it would be when I booked it. We loved how close by the glacier trail was and enjoyed spending our days scrambling up Fox mountain. The woods around the cabin are lovely and full of birds we don't see in the South. The cabin is well insulated and we didn't need to use the heaters or fireplace during our stay. It was so nice to come home at the end of the day, cook a nice meal, and then relax on the couch with our books. My only regret is that I didn't book a longer stay. Communication was slow with the homeowner, but hey, this isn't their full time job. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a romantic getaway away from it all.
Just as advertised. Great cabin.
Loved it. We used the cabin as home base as we hiked up to St. Mary's Glacier and other trails and did some 4 Wheeling. We didn't go to 4 wheel, but founds lots of 4x4 trails to explore. It was great to be able to walk from the cabin to St. Mary's Glacier trailhead and miss the crowded parking lot. It felt so good to just hang out at the cabin after a long day and watch the stars at night. The cool night air felt great.
Perfect offline getaway!
The cabin was the perfect unplugged getaway for our family. We played hours of Battleship and Uno, hiked the glacier and quietly relaxed without electronics. Thank you to Sandy for dropping by to check on us! The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed and more. It was a wonderful experience.
Great location, everything exactly as described, plus some.
The location was great and we loved the seclusion. We didn't get check in instructions until less than 24 hours to check in time, but overall very nice! We wished the windows had curtains and the front door was difficult to unlock & open. Lots of little extras, very comfortable beds, nice bathroom, and we loved the games and binoculars that were there! Loved being able to walk to hike the Glacier.
Overall, our stay was very good.
Our stay was quite nice, I loved the location and privacy. However, there are a few maintenance issues that need to be dealt with. The toaster oven only would toast on one side, the front door really stuck - needed to shoulder it open. The door to the washer did not like to stay shut, shouldn't take much to get that fixed. The chairs on the deck, one of them needs repaired, one of the straps that makes the seat was broken. Out front, it would be nice to clear a tree or two to take better advantage of the view. I would also suggest bringing the ladder to loft out a little more. It was quite steep to go up. Would I come back? Yes, I would come back, these things are all minor but should be addressed.
Scenic, secluded, unplugged mountain getaway
My husband and I wanted to find a quiet place in the mountains where we could walk out our door and be in nature, or snuggle up with the comforts of home inside. Great open windows with plenty of light and a sunny deck were perfect places to play a game or read a book! This was the perfect place! With very limited cell reception and no wi-fi, it was truly a place to get away from the busyness of life and unplug for a few days. We hiked to nearby St. Mary's Glacier and walked down to the private lake several times. Idaho Springs was also close enough to head in for dinner at BeauJo's (pizza), grab some groceries and do a little shopping. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a couple condiments we had forgotten. So many wonderful memories of our time there!
