Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an AMAZING time in San Jose! The house is incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. I now understand what you meant when you said it was the perfect place for the *right* family. We relished the indoor/outdoor style, the ocean breeze, the gorgeous view, the privacy of the bedrooms...and the fact that we were a bit off the beaten track.

Thank you, again, for your warm welcome...and for helping our family have a truly memorable vacation!

Absolutely gorgeous home in a stunning setting

  • 5 of 5

Our family of three (including an 8-year old) stayed here in December, 2015. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the home and in the southern Baja area. The pictures of the home give a sense of its unique layout and stunning views, but the home itself is even more impressive. We loved the open design with a charming courtyard in the middle of the home, the huge expanses of windows with outstanding views, and the enormous set of doors that open the home to the outdoors. The bedrooms were very comfortable – two are next to each other and the third is in a separate casita (smaller detached building). The kitchen was very well-stocked with everything you need to cook. There are three bathrooms (one in the casita) which were clean and modern – featuring outdoor private showers surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The main living space was wide open and very comfortable for hanging out. The real treasure is the outdoor space which is a set of terraces and includes the pool. There is a separate upper level deck with 360 degree views of the Sea of Cortez and the mountains. From the home, we could see whales and other sealife. The property is all exquisitely landscaped, adding to the peaceful feeling.

The home is located in a quiet area (Laguna Hills) which is reached by a 10-15 minute trip from San Jose on a dirt/gravel road. We had a standard rental car (not 4-wheel drive) and we made this trip many times without trouble. The community is gated and feels totally safe. When we stayed in the home, there were few other people in the area, so it was peaceful. There is a very good restaurant (Buzzard’s) at the base of the hill and many more restaurants in San Jose. We liked San Jose much better than Cabo San Lucas because it is far less touristy, more artsy, and more charming. The beaches in the immediate area (on the East Cape Road) are beautiful for strolling, splashing, etc. but probably not completely safe for swimming because of riptides. We found several swimmable beaches (for the 8-year old) in town and also down the coast about 15-20 minutes. Cabo San Lucas is an easy trip and we also made a day trip to Todos Santos on the Pacific side of the peninsula (which we recommend as well).

All in all, we loved staying at this home and felt it was very good value for the money. The owner was highly communicative, responsive, and helpful with suggestions. You will be impressed.

The views!

  • 5 of 5

We spent two weeks here during holiday season in 2013 and loved every minute of it. The house is beautiful and you can pretty much open all windows and doors and enjoy 270 degrees of amazing views. Don't be discouraged by the location, it very accessible and close to beautiful beaches that you can have pretty much to yourself. I would definitely go back.

Stunning home above the Sea of Cortez.

  • 4 of 5

What an amazing home perched beautifully above the azure waters of the sea of Cortez. The home is very well maintained and well kept. The openness and location are ideal for the traveler that just wants to get away from it all. The pool is a treat after a long day at the beach or returning from a great day of fishing. This amazing home has provided my family many memorable vacations at the tip of the Baja Peninsula. We can't wait for our next trip down to this little bit of paradise nestled in the hills above the Sea of Cortez.

A beautiful sanctuary

  • 5 of 5

When making a rental through a portal there is always a a sense of concern in case it isn't like the photos /description. In this case the listing was 100% spot on, and it really is as nice as the photos make it. The house is beautifully designed to maximise the views and cooling breeze. Every eventuality has been thought of, from the large windows with screens to comfortable seating areas both inside and out. The kitchen area is just right to prepare light meals, the bathrooms are all outdoors (but fully private) and the bed was really comfortable. The pool was perfect for that cooling dip, before flopping onto your lounger to dry off and warm up again.

It was unbelievably relaxing, sitting in the rockers listening to and watching the bird life as well as the buzzards who will fly down to check you out. There are cute little gophers too, who peep up at you from the rocks. Occasionally we did manage to haul ourselves out, eating in San Jose a couple of times, visiting Cabo San Lucas (tip; don't) and the marina. The East Cape is beautiful, although the 10k of dirt track to access it was what totalled our half shaft (either that or the numerous supersize speed bumps), so take care here.

During the daytime there is some local construction which involves a little noise and some loss of privacy, otherwise you are beautifully remote. There are plenty of no-see'ums / mosquitoes, so bug spray is essential even during the day. Occasionally a roach would scuttle around, nothing that a stomp with a sturdy shoe couldn't fix.

One final note; the wind chimes are hypnotic and beautiful. I can pretty much guarantee that you will love this place.

Beautiful views and peaceful location

  • 4 of 5

We had a great week here, enjoying the great ocean views and lots of sun! The house is well maintained and comfortable, and we liked that the 3 bedrooms each have their own bathroom and privacy. It's just 10 or 15 minutes drive into San Jose del Cabo for groceries and restaurants, but we spent most of our time at this house or at beaches further out the East Cape. Only drawback was some construction noise nearby.
