The place was charming and beautiful. It had everything we needed.

The house is very cute. Three bedrooms including a loft. What the photos don't show is that there is a large window in the living room which lets in lots of light, making the place bright and welcoming. This looks out into a thick forest giving the impression that you're truly out in the wilderness, detached from civilization. This was exactly what we were looking for in a weekend escape from the city. We visited with our dog who also enjoyed the house and exploring the forested surroundings.

In addition, the kitchen was well stocked with pans, plates, spices, cooking oil, and even some food. We cooked every night. We also loved using the hot tub and spending time on the deck. There were board games, books, and an X-Box (although we had difficulty getting many of the games to play, but that's a very minor complaint). All in all we loved the place and will definitely be coming back.

One minor note, the VRBO listing did not include a mention of the cleaning fee, security deposit, and dog fee. They were all reasonable and fairly standard, but we were surprised when the quote included them after the website didn't. Certainly the cost was reasonable for such a nice property.

A Relaxing Getaway Spot

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I enjoyed a very relaxing getaway weekend last week, and really enjoyed Lani and Garth's home. Pictures don't do it justice- it was definitely spacious enough for the 6 of us, and the window in the back gave the perfect view of the trees. The kitchen had all the pots and utensils we needed to make all our meals, and we enjoyed the back deck and the hot tub. Everything was very clean when we arrived.

We spent our Saturday afternoon at the Fox Meadow winery, just a few miles down the road. They were very knowledgable and friendly, and the wine was delicious.

We're already talking about when we can take our next trip to the Sweetspire Cottage!

Wonderful tranquil retreat

  • 5 of 5

A very comfortable home nestled in the woods. Even with 5 people, it was very comfortable and had everything we need. Watching meteor showers from the hot tub was a huge highlight! The owner was incredibly responsive to all of our needs pre-trip and during the trip. The nearby roads are your country dirt roads - a bit of care needed during the winter months, but the owners made that very clear during the rental process so it wasn't a surprise. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it for a get-away!

Serene, Tranquil, Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do this cabin justice! My girlfriends and I took a trip for a weekend getaway in January 2015. The cabin was warm, cozy, and beautiful. The whole back wall of the cabin is a bunch of windows and the sunset is beautiful every night. Even with the windows the cabin is still very warm! We had the fireplace going each night and played games. We even visited a vineyard for a wine tasting and it was only about a mile away. Serene, tranquil, beautiful, and clean! Would definitely visit again.

Charming home in quiet Linden with a hot tub

  • 5 of 5

This charming A frame home is well cared for and has comfortable beds for a family of 5. Up to 7 ppl can stay if they share beds. No pull out sofa beds, comfortable beds with warm blankets and a variety of pillow. The kitchen is well equipped even with holiday platters and a soup tureen for our Thanksgiving meal we prepared. The owner is generous with sharing spices and condiments and leaves them for use by renters. The hot tub was warm and comfortable outside watching the night sky. We arrived to the home with 6" of snow. The owner called to warn us beforehand so we drove out 4WD vehicle to get up the 4mile paved road and navigated the plowed gravel road the last half mile to the house. Though there are neighbors close by, the house seems secluded. It is a beautiful are close to wineries, the Appalacian trail and Va horse country. It is one short hour from Washington DC. It is a great place to really get away.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

Getting there at night is a bit of an adventure, but once we found the cottage everything was perfect. A great, quiet, well maintained place to hang out for a couple days.
