Why Sara chose Truckee

This picture was taken Nov. 6, 2012 on a glorious hiking/mountain biking trail which connects with the Donner Rim Trail along with a whole system of other trails, located about a mile from my condo. I was cross country skiing the trail while a hiker and snowshoer were also enjoying the spectacular panorama! After skiing I dove into the outdoor heated pool at Trout Creek Fitness Center and then relaxed in the hot tub! Another day in Paradise--and the ski resorts had not even opened yet! Why did I buy this condo? 3 reasons: location, location, and location!!

Clean and nice condo for a small family to enjoy skiing and sledding

  • 5 of 5

We liked this small condo that has everything we needed. It is located near a hill with lifts for skiiers at Tahoe Donner Association. We found a good place to ride our kids on sleds in the forest. It was snowy road to the right of the ski area. And it is so beautiful there!. When skiers left the ski area we used their hill to slide on sleds. Overall, it was very convenient place for us to stay for winter brake! Thank you, Sara (the owner of the condo) for your hospitality!

Cozy, comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice place for 2 of us to stay for Thanksgiving weekend. The kitchen had the right supplies for breakfast & coffee. (No stove, but everything else). Very comfortable furnishings and space, and right at the base of the ski mountain.

Very cozy in a beautiful location!

  • 4 of 5

We just stayed a few days at the condo and it was gorgeous. It isn't too far outside of town and has everything needed to make your stay fabulous. It was clean and well kept with a very comfortable bed. Plenty of room for two people- it would be quite cozy for 4 people but on a budget this is a fantastic choice for a larger group. Sara is incredibly attentive to detail with all of the notes posted around the condo and her stocked supplies. I mean, she even has a sewing kit ready and available if needed! We were pleasantly suprised by the amount of care and thought put in to every detail. I wish we would have looked more carefully at the binder so we could have followed more of her recommendations. Sara has good taste!

I will say that we were woken up each morning around 5:30-6 AM by very loud upstairs neighbors. The folks in the office said they would do what they could, but that there wasn't very much they could do. That was kind of a bummer. We were told the upstairs neighbors are owners with children, so this may be an ongoing issue. The lodge itself is very "rustic" and is definitely craving some updates, but we know that is happening soon and I can't wait to come back to see how the renovations improve the stay.

For five stars, I would have liked to have been able to sleep in. Sara, maybe it's time to talk to the neighbors around the place. We did our very best to be courteous but since we were just staying a day or two longer, we didn't feel comfortable making a fuss.

Otherwise, this location is truly wonderful. We definitely recommend choosing this condo for a place to stay in Tahoe Donner.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your thoughtful, flattering review! I’m glad you enjoyed yourselves but am so very sorry about the inconsiderate neighbors upstairs—they were actually renters. I have an understanding with the owners above and beside me that we will let each other know if our renters are not respecting posted quiet times (10:00 pm to 8:00 am) in which case we will call the tenants and ask them to quiet down. From now on I’ll make it clearer to my guests that they need to call me if quiet hours are not being adhered to.
