“Fantastic appartment and location”
As the other reviews suggests - you can only feel lucky when you end up in a place like this. A beautiful 15th century building and great loft with all amenities and views of the church behind. Via del Portico di Ottavia is a very lively street with dozens of restaurants with outdoor serving (several are well known - but we actually preferred Il Portico with excellent genuine food at very reasonable prices) great food shops and ancient ruins at the end of the street. The ghetto is a wonderful oasis in the middle of Rome. You can walk to Navona, Trastevere or Forum in 10-15 minutes. After this trip - cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Rome.
And thanks to Federico for a very friendly reception.
“This was the perfect place to stay in Rome.”
We stayed in this lovely loft apartment for a week at the end of September this year. The apartment was clean and full of light. Simply furnished, but it had everything we needed. The location was absolutely perfect - it was very central, and we walked everywhere. Although there were several restaurants right on our block, and we ate at, and enjoyed, a few of them, it also felt like a secluded little street away from the busy city. It was very quiet at night, so easy to sleep. The air conditioning worked very well, and the kitchen appeared to be very well equipped, although we did not use it. The wireless internet worked really well.
Federico the owner was very prompt returning emails, and helpful when we arrived, arranging transportation from the airport, and also ordered a taxi for us the day we left. We did not need to call him during the week at all, but I felt he would have responded very quickly - he lives very nearby.
If we ever return to Rome, we absolutely would stay here again.
If there was anything even slightly negative, I guess I would mention that it would be nice to have a stand-up shower. However, that was not a major difficulty, and the positives outweighed the negatives by a very large margin.
Rome was a beautiful city, and we felt completely safe, especially in our own neighbourhood, the Jewish ghetto.
