Roseland Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6 adults max + 2 children)

Perched on a scenic knoll overlooking incredible mountain vistas, the 'Mountain Laurel Chalet' is completely secluded on 26+ acres, yet is close to all the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer - golfing, hiking, skiing, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail.

Located just beyond the Wintergreen Ski Resort, the cabin is accessed by a private wooded half mile drive. This beautiful three bedroom, two bath chalet has spectacular views from every window in the cabin, plus the screened in porch, an expansive deck and fire-pit.

The rustic family room boasts a stone fireplace and an open fully-equipped kitchen. The tongue and groove knotty pine flooring and barn wood walls throughout add to the warmth and coziness of this chalet. Upstairs includes a bunk room and an open area perfect for intimate conversations, board games or gazing at the stars from the walk out balcony.

Enjoy a day hiking at Crabtree Falls, fruit picking at nearby orchards, a visit to the local Farmer's Market or soak in the stunning scenery with a good book after a long hike or a day in the snow.

Enjoy the Virginia mountains at their finest. The Mountain Laurel Chalet is truly a rare find.

Why Eric Watt chose Central Virginia

My family bought this mountain cabin because of its stunning views, privacy on 26+ acres and it's cozy, rustic charm.

We have vacationed for years in the Rocky Mountains and this place has comparable majestic views!

It is a stone's throw from Wintergeen Ski and All Season Resort, but completely private. The best of both worlds -- world class amenities nearby and complete seclusion.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What an amazing view! This is an incredible place to make memories with your friends and family. So convenient to Wintergreen. We will definitely tell our friends about this place. Thanks for all the special touches. Look forward to coming back again and again

Restorative!

  • 5 of 5

The scenery surrounding this cabin is stunning. Sitting by the fire while playing the guitar under the stars was so restorative for our family after a very hectic fall. The cabin was very comfortable with a completely equipped kitchen and plenty of deck and porch space to enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains. We took little trips out to hike Crabtree Falls, enjoyed Wild Wolf Brewery and enjoyed fresh apple cider at a local orchard. The only negative is we couldn't stay longer. If you want to be off the grid just enough to reset this is the place.

Amazing views, seculded mountain paradise

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in an excellent location away from it all. In the middle of the woods without a single man made structure in sight. We loved the fire pit at night. A short drive to Devils Backbone Brewery and Sherando Lake for swimming made for a great weekend. Eric was easy to work with and took extra care to make sure we had a great stay. Highly recommend.

Breathtaking view, great house

  • 5 of 5

The view from the house is breathtaking and absolutely wonderful. We loved everything about the house. It is exactly as advertised and the indoor pictures do not do it justice. There is a covered porch. The interior is hardwood in the lower level with a fireplace. The upper level is carpeted. Both levels have great lighting and great views. The night sky is amazing.

I don't understand the complaints of some earlier reviews, the chalet looked recently renovated, everything (bathroom/kitchen) worked great and was spotless. My three generation family couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay on a long week end. We would all love to come back in all seasons. As advertised, it is off the grid with no good cell coverage and no wi-fi. For us, that was a plus, especially when you are so close to the resort.

In any case, check it out, you won't regret it.

Came back for more!

  • 4 of 5

Absolutely lovely, stunningly beautiful. There is no internet/cell phone access but that was cool with us...really nice to get away from technology! The driveway in is a bit overgrown, so bring a vehicle with higher suspension (at least higher than a sonata because I was scraping a bit). Also, the matresses are not so great, but they are several steps up from sleeping bags. We had a party on Sunday night and invited several friends with kids out and they had a blast hunting lizards and exploring.

I've been here twice, loved it both times, and would definitely reccomend it to any family or friends group that wants a real retreat. So many wineries, breweries, trails, and the National Forrest right near by that there are just way too many things to do.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the positive feedback on our Mountain Laurel Chalet. We love the views, too and with the new furnishings that we put in I think it has upgraded the cabin. We just put in new mattresses less than a year ago...and we will check them to make sure all is well. Each spring/summer we clear the driveway/road as soon as the wild raspberries are picked...which will take place in a week. Thanks again

family vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family (husband, 3 kids) stayed here for our winter vacation, skied at Wintergreen, and hung out with several old friends. The place was really nice, clean, great location, and cozy. I would highly recommend it.

What a find!

  • 5 of 5

What a combination - spectacular views, charming accommodations, removed from civilization yet so close to Wintergreen Resort. My college-age daughter and I were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived because the inside is cheerier than the photos can convey. The owner did not skimp on furnishings and the place oozes a rustic charm.

The owner has a list of recommended hikes and we were able to look up directions by driving next door to Wintergreen and plugging the trail names into our cell phones. No cell phone or internet service was kind of a pain, but I guess it's part of the charm. We hiked up Crabtree Falls one day, and toured Monticello and a local brewery another day. Cooking a new recipe each night was part of the fun and the kitchen is well equipped. I'll bring a sharper chef knife next time though.

If you like to occasionally get away from it all, this is the place.
