The large Cottage apt. (the larger 1/2 of the house) at Holiday Farm is a gorgeous place to spend the month, week or a mini-break weekend. Centered in the heart of a real, working farm there are miles of wooded trails and farm roads right outside the door. You can wander the farm, enjoy seasonal sports activities from cross-country skiing to mountain biking or you can simply relax as you take in the breath-taking views.
Located just outside of Pittsfield, you are less than fifteen minutes away from a bustling city where you can enjoy the day at the Berkshire Museum or (a little further out) explore Hancock Shaker Village, take in a show at Tanglewood or see what’s new at MassMOCA.

We, (My siblings too) grew up in this House and on the farm but I now live in VT. It's been in the family for along time and Its a special place for families to be together.
I grew up in Dalton, so it was fun to get back to town and revisit old hangouts. The property was clean and quiet. We enjoyed revisiting Wahconah Falls and Mt. Greylock. My only suggestion would be to have a larger television in the family room. The television in the master didn't work very well. Just minor issues. Overall, we had a great time. The next door neighbor, Angus, was a delight to talk to.
After looking for a place to bring 2 larger families together for Christmas, we found this amazing home, to celebrate! We live locally but our idea was to have a sort of "staycation" and this home fit the bill! We were pleased to talk to Mary who is a very down to earth, friendly person. She answered all our questions and made this whole process so easy!
The home is beautiful and quiet and was the perfect home for Christmas. Its big and has plenty of space. We had 4 adults - 5/6 children and 2 infants and it was more than enough space for us all.
I was so shocked to open closets and find everything we needed and more! Including a pack n play. Everything was spotless when we got there, and smelled wonderful! The home has tons of room for the kids to run and do whatever. Unfortunately we didnt have much snow last year so the kids didnt have much sledding time but they loved being outside and exploring! We even were given wood for the wood stove, everything was just there when we needed it! I would highly recommend this home...we are hoping to do another Christmas there we loved it so much!
Thanks Mary for everything!
The Foggons & The Carters
A beautiful property in a bucolic place. The property caretaker was pleasant and helpful but gave our party of four couples and eight children plenty of space. The house was immaculate and much more spacious than it seems from the photos. Would highly recommend this rental.
We were a crew of 10 adults who were looking for a nice house in the Berkshires to spend Memorial Day weekend. The beautiful property allowed us to enjoy many activities without having to travel; the working farm has a large variety of animals to enjoy (including 2-week old piglets and lots of calves!), two hiking trails, and a great road for a short run or bike ride. We only left to travel to Wandering Star Brewery and to visit the Mass MoCA, each of which were very accessible. The house itself was very homey and comfortably accommodated all 10 of us. Two notes about the house: it is unclear from the pictures or the description that the house is actually the right hand apartment of a two-apartment home, which means you share a wall with the caretaker and his wife. They were both very kind, lovely, helpful people, but we did have a bit of a noise issue playing music loudly in the living room on the first night. Just a heads up if your group likes to get loud! They were very understanding, and simply asked us to move our revelry into the farther living room. Also, the bedroom with two twin beds that can be pushed together into a queen is inside the master bedroom, which can make things a little awkward for couples, but is nothing an intricate system of knocks can't solve :)
All in all, we were all incredibly happy with the our visit to Holiday Brook! The owner was very helpful and accommodating every step of the way, and we couldn't get enough of the farm day after day. We hope to be back again soon, and recommend that you see why for yourself!
We had a bit of a unique circumstance, as my crew and I were part of a indie film group utilizing the location for our short movie. The owners and caretakers were very accommodating in allowing our large group to stay and film here! It was an ideal scenario - there was plenty of room upstairs for us all to sleep and space downstairs to live/work. Having gorgeous views, the home set back from the main road, and adorable farm animals around the property were fantastic features - especially during cast and crew downtime! I highly recommend staying at the property and enjoying all of the peace and beauty that this Berkshire farmhouse offers.
It would be hard to imagine a more lovely place to stay with kids. We were there with our 2-year-old and were joined part of the time by friends with children as well. The "cottage" is huge, with plenty of room to spread out inside and the whole farm to explore outside. The kids spent a lot of time visiting the goats and the bottle-raised pig in the nearby barn. They splashed in the little stream, climbed the hills to look for the horses, walked the dirt driveway down to the small farm store, and ran barefoot around the large yard. We cooked every night in the well-equipped kitchen and ate delicious corn, greens, lamb and ice cream from the farm store. It felt to me like the perfect farmhouse: rambling and charming and well-loved. It's not the place to go if you're put off by a few upholstery stains or a shower curtain that has seen better days (despite being a little worn in places, though, the house was very clean). For us, it was the ideal vacation and I'm sure we'll visit Holiday Brook again.
