Great Spring Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Toes in the Water was just as described and photos are accurate. My husband and I enjoyed the weekend we spent there. Late March provided perfect spring like weather and there are enough business open to supply your shopping needs. Great gift shops and fried oysters at "The Point" ! We will be back. Thanks for providing a great place for a much needed break.

Great location, but needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

While we had a terrific vacation in the Outer Banks, I would not stay at Toes in the Water again. I had high hopes for the unit as the staff at Leslie’s was ultra-responsive and gave great customer service. We got a terrific bargain for the week as well. Upon arrival, however, the air conditioning unit in the bedroom was disgusting – full of dirt and dust and a part of the grate was literally crumbled and no longer there. The front ac unit didn’t pump cold air even at the highest setting – it seemed to just bring in air from outside which was completely humid air. Seems that the homeowners realized this as there was a big dehumidifier in the living room which constantly ran and never got below 66% humidity. It constantly required emptying and if we didn’t empty it, the unit felt so humid inside. (Perhaps because we were next to the laundry room, the humidity was seeping in?) The kitchen was supposed to be “fully stocked” and while there were enough plates and bowls, there was 1 teaspoon, 4 forks, 3 table knives (which had seen better days)… it just wasn’t what I’d hoped for. We tried to clean a few areas in the room, but the vacuum in the room had basically zero suction. The king bed was comfortable and the setup of the unit was sufficient for us. The location was great – just across the street from the beach and right next to the ferry and shops. The property itself was fairly clean, but just had the feel of a motel to it with various people living there with their pets. The pool was nice though definitely not maintained very well and we had intended to grill, but the one gas grill on the property was broken. It just wasn’t what I had hoped for when booking it. Hatteras Island is a remote location, but there are a few places to eat nearby and we caught great sunrises and sunsets which made the trip worth it.

Anniversary

  • 4 of 5

Perfect place to spend our anniversary, the condo was just as described, ease of restaurants, beach, shopping....the location was perfect. We had a wonderful time. The Breakwater Restaurant as well Dinky's restaurants I would recommend, the service and the food was outstanding. Hatteras is a relaxed town to unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the sunsets are amazing, we were walking distance from some of the shops. The condo was well described, clean and comfortable. I would recommend staying here.

7 Days of Glorious Fun - Looking Forward to Next Time!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at “Toes In The Water” in Hatteras Village Oct. 10-17, 2014 for 7 days of glorious fun. Since this was our first time in the Outer Banks, we wanted to check out the entire area. We filled our days with non-stop exploring and photographing this beautiful area, and the condo served as a perfect retreat where we slept soundly each night in the comfortable king sized bed. The condo has an awesome view of the marsh and a great balcony for propping up your feet and enjoying the breeze with your sweetheart and your favorite beverage. There is a lighted boardwalk across the marsh that is perfect for evening walks. Having the laundry room next door was so convenient for washing up our dirty clothes. (And we had lots of them from our many trips to the beach.) The condo was neat and clean and had everything that we needed. There is so much to see and do that we have already booked another week there next year. Thank you, Leslie & Gang, for making our first trip to the Outer Banks a memorable one.
