Simone Pierattoni purchased this apartment in 2006
This is simply the best area for tourism, it's centrally located but also very quiet.
Just open the window, you can see the david in front of the Uffizi !
We stayed in the Ponte Vecchio apartment over the Christmas and New Year holiday in December. The apartment location is amazing -- the best that we've had in three trips to Florence. We stayed for 10 nights with our good friends (two adult couples). The apartment is much larger than we ever expected and the two bedrooms are both large, the baths are nice. The view over the Arno is amazing to wake up to every morning and we had a great time experiencing the fun of New Year's Eve fireworks over the river. We also used the carpark a block away, which was really convenient. The apartment was really fabulous and Simone was such a help to us with our lost luggage, late arrival on Christmas Eve, and arranging airport transfers. We hope to return soon and would definitely stay here again. It is beautiful!
Fabulous location! Great apartment. Big and full of light and wonderful views. High ceilings, large rooms, plenty of space. Perfect layout for two couples. Bathrooms modern and clean. Kitchen is adequate. Floors could use a deep clean but then the whole building could use a deep clean. None of that detracts from the pleasantness of the space, the decor, the comfort and livability. It was great. Would happily stay there again.
Cannot say enough positive things about our stay at this apartment! Plenty of space to either 'hang out' together; or gain privacy by sitting in the spacious sitting areas beside the dining area and bedroom windows; and/or the living room, avoiding feeling we were living 'in each other's pockets.’ We came to Florence to immerse ourselves in the charm and uniqueness of the city; and staying at this apartment enhanced that experience, with it’s age, furnishings, and views. We also found it very clean. The pictures do not really show the size, I think because of the extra tall ceilings. The living room is large and comfortable; with a dining area at one end, beside the extra tall windows. The fully functional kitchen afforded us the ability to have a relaxing breakfast in the apartment, before heading out on our day's adventure; and late evening snacks (and wine, of course). The view from the dining table, looked out over the Arno, directly at the Uffizi Gallery! Very quick to walk over the Ponte Vecchio to the Gallery; and into the heart of the city. Also, there is a large grocery store just minutes up the road; as well as good restaurants. The beds were very comfortable; and the sitting areas, with the wonderful views out very tall windows, were neat. I’ve read some reviews that noted noise from the street; but for us, the sounds of life outside were not a problem, since we enjoyed the location so much – and that is part of living close to the center of a very old city. The two bathrooms were appreciated, since our sons are in their 20's and we all wanted privacy. Close enough to walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo; very close to the Ponte Vecchio, Galileo Museum and Uffizi Gallery.
Location ! location ! Plus a wonderful staff in a lovely apartment. This sums up our stay with Simone in his lovely apartment. Could not be closer to the center. Convenient to all. Simone is a love for all the attention he has to detail in the apartment and making your stay as comfortable as possible. Would love to return.
When communicating with Simon the only thing that I asked was that the apartment be clean. It was clear upon arrival that it had not been cleaned in a long long time. The refrigerator had so much ice in it that you couldn't even see the ice cube tray so I defrosted it. The couch is very dirty so his solution was to drape a throw over it.The bathroom with the walk-in shower had so much black mold in it it was disgusting. The water heater was leaking so there was water all over the kitchen floor so I put a pitcher underneath to catch the water. I unfortunately had to use about six towels to mop up the water on the floor which was filthy. This could be a really nice apartment but apparently it's rented back to back all the time so it is never cleaned. When Simon came at the end to calculate the utilities we tried to speak with him indicating that we shouldn't be responsible for utilities used because his appliances were not working properly. He was infuriated and left in a storm. We left a check for the utilities minus what we felt was used because of the heater situation. I was never told what to do with the keys so I emailed him that we were leaving one set under the mat and one set in the foyer. I think he was infuriated because he knows the place is not up to par. When we came back from an overnight to Venice there was a package from him with wine, pasta, some cookies and a note indicating a free week rental in the future. I do you don't know why with a potentially great space that you would let it totally run down. Simon was not available the first day of our rental. He arranged at a cost for one of his colleagues to pick us up at the airport. An older gentleman( who the driver said was the owner) then entered the vehicle enroute and brought us up to the apartment. He was very nice but obviously didn't know anything about the apartment.
The apartment is nice but maintenance is awful. Previous tenants had left bathroom items in shower and shower was mouldy and the kitchen plates and utensils were dirty. Had to clean it all before using. Washing machine worked but there were plastics components broken on it. Plugged kettle into wall and the whole switchboard popped out. Door handles fell off doors. There were other peoples underwear left in drawers. Such a shame because it's a nice apartment. Overpriced for the condition.
