2 story cape in a very quiet and secluded area, approx. 100' from private beach. Location must be seen to be appreciated. House recently remodeled. Excellent deal as some adjacent 1-2 room cottages rent for 2-$3000/wk. House has a queen size bed in the master bedroom, 2 singles in another bedroom and a trundle bed in downstairs bedroom that can become 2 singles or a king. Approximately 5 miles from Provincetown where there are excellent restaurants, sightseeing, deep sea fishing and whale watch.
Why Thomas Dyer chose North Truro
Father purchased approx 12-15 acres of waterfront land just following WW2. Required trees and brush to be cleared to build road to property where he and his brother built the original 'shack' on the land at the top of the cliff overlooking Cape Cod Bay.
What makes this House unique
The current house is private, quiet in an excellent location.

As another reviewer has written, the house could use some updates.
The reason I am giving the rental two stars is due to the very narrow and steep spiral staircase that led up to the upstairs bedrooms. If anyone in your party needs firm footing, this might not be the rental for you. We found it dangerous.
Having said that, the cottage is cosy and relaxed. The easy access to what has to be one of the greatest walking beaches in the country made up for any inconveniences.
In regards to the spiral staircase, these were put in in the 1980’s when my father owned the house. I will agree with Peyton that they can be a pain in the neck to some people ( I wouldn’t go so far as to say that they are dangerous ) But to tell you the truth I don’t know what my father was thinking when he had them put in, rather than a regular staircase. As she said in her review the other attributes of this little piece of land and house on the bay very much outweigh any disadvantages.
My father had purchased about 30 or 40 acres of land right after World War II with the money that he had earned from the Air Force. Over the years he sold off various lots and pieces of land mainly to his friends and, with his brother, built a house for their mother. Having sold the last acre of beachfront land five years ago this is all that is left of the 40 acres after 70 years or so.
With regards to Peyton who wrote the previous review I gave her five stars in every category because they were, In my estimation , Perfect tenants, if there is such a thing. They took excellent care of the house and were, as far as I can determine, very good and honest people !
Proximity to the beach was key
So close to the beach, it made it easy to take my family (incl an infant child) to and fro with hardly any effort.
The house is much as we expected it would be. It’s on a beach with no a/c (the biggest downfall, but not essential), thus on humid summer days you cannot escape the weather.
Some updates would be definitely appreciated, but again not a killer.
Unfortunately the owner had to cut down our original stay shorter, but he was very apologetic.
The owner was very responsive whenever we had questions.
Bottom line whenever I’m staying in a house on the beach, I know what to expect. Sand is everywhere, nothing ever completely dries, and it can be a bit hot and humid. (Nothing a little a/c in the future can’t help with)
Located just where you want to be...
An easy walk to a private beach and to the Provincetown bus--loved it!
You can hear the waves from the bedroom window.....
The screened windowed porch made the place for us. We lived on it when the weather didn't work out. The beach was beautiful in the foggy, sunny, and overcast skies we experienced.
Gorgeous beach with few people when we were there mid-June. Owner Thomas, very responsive- and nice!
Great proximity to the beach!
The proximity to the beach (a quick walk up a path and down some stairs) was really convenient. The beach itself was very private and never had more than a couple other people on it. The water and beach were gorgeous. The house itself is a bit dated, but was enough room for 6 adults to fit comfortably. With a couple additions like a couple more kitchen chairs and maybe a picnic table this could be a real show stopper, but overall we were happy with the cleanliness and utility of the property. The extra sun room was a great place to hang out rain or shine.
...a private place with such surprise!
we have been struggling finding a place that would accommodate our growing family, well, we found it!
Our homeowners could not have set the place up better; clean, accommodating and just such a private and perfect setting, rich with history and oh so inviting!
On Cape Cod Bay, approx 2 miles to the 'other side' (ocean and ocean beaches), Highland Light and 5-6 miles to historic Provincetown.
