About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sofa-Bed: Sleeps 6 + 2 kids in a sofa-bed

'Whispering Acres' is a privately owned large, beautiful, comfortable 3 Bdr, 3 Bath home with a private duck pond, on a 20 acre open prairie with unobstructed mountain views. The home is not managed by an agency. I simply make it available myself.

Yellowstone Ntl Park and Chico Hot Springs are a straight 55 mn. drive on U.S. 89 and the Yellowstone River is a few miles away from the house, flowing down from gorgeous Paradise Valley.

Since a one-day visit to the Park is ample enough to see everything, you're lucky to be 4 miles from downtown Livingston with its timeless Western feel and look, for your vacation.

The closest fly-fishing spot is 4 miles from the house on famed Yellowstone River. Just 2 miles away is an Albertson's supermarket.

The most extraordinary features of 'Whispering Acres' are the magical silence of its surroundings, the millions of stars dotting Montana's Big Sky and the wonderful, happy, calm, patient and engaging local residents.

For more details, see:

This home has a state-of-the-art central A/C system and is extraordinary for being in a remote area, yet with close-by urban conveniences.

Access is simple. Interstate I-90 is easily accessible from the house and you are 28 miles from Bozeman Gallatin Field's (BZN) national airport, or a two hour drive from Billings (BIL) airport.

'Whispering Acres' amenities: Upstairs in the house, is a vast living room with huge double-pane windows allowing spectacular views from the 'Absaroka Mountains' to the 'Crazy Mountains'. There is opulent, comfortable western-style leather seating and a 60” flat screen TV, a DVD player, hi-speed wifi throughout the house and a vast collection of DVDs.

Off the living room is a bedroom with a king size bed and access to a full bathroom through a barn-style door.

On the opposite side are the dining area and kitchen. Access to and from the 2-car garage with remote-controlled electric doors is through a living room door.

A stairway by the front door leads downstairs where a queen size sofa bed sits in the den and 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed (one has a genuine Tempur-Pedic bed) allow for more sleeping. Each has its own private bathroom. The master bath has an oversized glass enclosed shower.

A laundry room with brand new large capacity washer and dryer adds to the comfort of your vacation. A Wii game system is all setup and can keep the kids occupied. A game table, cards, books for all ages are all there. There is another flat screen TVs in the den. Hundreds of DVDs are supplied.

Cooking at 'Whispering Acres': The kitchen is open to the breakfast area and great room, and has a wonderful view out all windows. A door opens to the large deck. We have fully stocked the kitchen with place settings, flatware, glasses, mugs, stemware, all cooking utensils, pots and pans, baking dishes, and all kitchen 'tools.' Of course, there is also a dishwasher, refrigerator-freezer, island stove-top, double oven and broiler, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, blender, and waffle iron, and on and on...

About Michael Marcus

Retired Graphic Designer, living in a rural setting to decompress. Montana is ideal for that and I take advantage of all the fantastic outdoor activities this state has to offer.

Michael Marcus purchased this house in 1997

Why Michael Marcus chose Livingston

Montana is truly Big Sky country. It has fresh air, is quiet, unhurried, spacious, with mountains that ground you; millions of stars that invite you to reflect. There are summer and winter outdoor activities if so inclined. A chance to catch up on reading. It also has challenging and engaging people. Always nice, kind-hearted and helpful. It's the way life was meant to be.

What makes this house unique

It's all that the city is not, and it's necessary for one's physical and spiritual wellbeing...

Cozy, Clean and Beautiful Home-Perfect Vacation Spot!

  • 5 of 5

Whispering Acres is all it is advertised and more. In addition, the owner, Michael Marcus is extremely helpful and very responsive. Staying at this very well-equipped home over Christmas was just a delight, from the warm cozy rooms and comfortable furniture to the Christmas tree with lights that came on automatically each afternoon/evening. The large windows in the upstairs living area afford the most impressive view of the outdoor scenery. The home is very clean, quiet and well-maintained, which is very important to me. The kitchen is well-stocked and thus cooking up a meal was a breeze. We appreciated the goodies that were supplied too! The home is only a few miles from the grocery store, Livingston and I-90. It is also very tastefully decorated and the furniture is very comfortable. The new floors look great and are also very functional. We certainly enjoyed seeing the snow falling on Christmas Day and though it can be a bit windy on some days, the home remained warm and cozy at all times. It was a delight to be able to park our rental car in the garage as well. Whispering Acres is a beautiful home to spend your vacation in and I would highly recommend staying there during any season. Thank you, Michael for sharing your extraordinary home with us!

Well appointed 3 bedroom home with spectacular views..

  • 5 of 5

5 of us shared this home while attending a fly fishing convention in Livingston. We were very comfortable here. The house had all the amenities you could ask for. Movies, games, fully stocked kitchen appliances, washer, dryer, bedding, towels, reading materials and a wraparound duck to enjoy the outstanding views. I forgot a charger and it was mailed back to me promptly. I highly recommend this property and would love to stay again next year.

We all enjoyed our stay

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed the property, however, Michael decided to keep part of our deposit. I spoke to him approximately twice before I booked the house. I told him my entire family was coming for a family reunion. I asked him about extra bedding and pull out couch and he told me where everything was. My family was really excited about the stay, because this was the first time we have ever used a home away property. When I booked the house I accidentally not knowing the website booked it for 2-3 people. I explained all of this stuff to Michael after he wouldn't refund the total deposit and he conveniently forgot about our discussion before I booked the house and told me we used to much of the bed linen. So he kept part of the deposit. Like all homes we encounter the usual. A few bugs and spiders here and there. Michael has thought about almost every need you will think about. Great direction around town and etc.

Owner's Response: Dear Mark, I appreciate very much your renting the house for your vacation and was fair to accommodate your arriving early and leaving later, but it would have been fair on your part to forewarn me about the actual number of guests. I had to pay the additional cleaning lady and therefore will keep a $100 out of your deposit to do so. The house had to be made ready in time for the following guests. There is no such thing as using too much linen. The washing machines accommodate what is loaded into them! It's the time it takes to make the beds, etc., afterward. Critters happen in a rural setting such as Montana in the summer although there presence is really minimal and occasional. Michael

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Let me first state that this vacation included my wife, my parents, my sister, her husband and child. So to find a place that could accommodate us all wasn't necessarily difficult but wasn't easy either. Once we saw the pictures and read some of the reviews on this property the choice became clear and when we arrived well we weren't wrong. The drive to Yellowstone could be made in under an hour which was nice. Yellowstone river was not even shorter so if you are in to rafting or fly-fishing you are in luck. The town of Livingston was lovely. Great restaurants, good drinks and if you ask my father and brother-in-law, great casinos (hit a nice slot). Now back to the house. Was the perfect size for the amount of people we had. Very nice layout, including a nice deck with a great view of the surrounding mountains. Kitchen was well stocked in terms of dishes, utensils, coffee and tea, various spices, etc. The furniture was extremely comfortable everything was just so clean. I can't promise you will love your stay as this is subjective but for me and my family it was perfect.

The home - 'Whispering Acres' - is located on its own 20 acres and has a duck pond. (The map is approximate! The house is a bit further south at a dead end road.) It is very quiet and private, yet only a couple miles from an Albertson's supermarket, 4 miles from Downtown Livingston, and 25 miles from larger Bozeman. It's also 4 miles from the nearest fly-fishing spot, right on the Yellowstone River. So you get the best of both worlds!

You can see more at

Other Activities: Wildlife watching, river rafting, canoeing, horseback riding, camping, dude ranching, fly fishing, hunting, bird watching, hiking, walking, biking and mountain biking, snow shoeing, skiing, stargazing, shopping! Your days can be jammed-packed full of activities yet some prefer staying at the house, reading and staring at the stunning views to recharge their soul...

Golf: There is a golf course in Livingston at the Livingston Golf & Country Club.

18 holes over 3,128 yards with a par of 36.

Ski: Bridger Bowl, Montana, is the gem of the Northern Rockies. Located only 45 minutes from the house, this outstanding ski area is well known for offering some of the most exciting ski, snowboard and telemark experiences that you will find, anywhere. This is not your typical Montana ski resort. Bridger Bowl is a nonprofit community ski area offering a great ski experience at an affordable price. Close-by Bozeman is home to Montana State University and is a young active community located only 25 miles from house.
