This is our beautiful second home located in the forest of the Sierra Nevada Mountains at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Incline Village, Nevada at 6,000 feet of elevation just 5 minutes from Lake Tahoe

Downstairs there are 2 bedrooms with queen beds and 1 bathroom. The great room with kitchen, living room and dining area is also on the first floor. Upstairs is a large loft with sofas, TV and an extra twin bed and a large master bedroom with a king bed and private bathroom.

The kitchen, bathrooms, and living area have been beautifully renovated including new furniture---take a look at the photos and on our website linked below at 'Links to More Information.'

Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) provides a recreation center with gym, exercise classes, and an olympic-sized pool; tennis courts, an outdoor pool; private beach; and organized activities for children. IVGID also runs Diamond Peak, 10 minutes from the house, which is a reasonably priced ski area that is very family friendly.

About Christine Carlson

I am a retired middle school teacher and my husband is a retired rancher now doing development consulting.

We like traveling, hiking, swimming, golf, tennis and the ocean.

Hawaii is a lovely place to live, but we travel to our Lake Tahoe home every chance we get; it is our peaceful getaway.

Why Christine Carlson chose Incline Village NV

We bought this home because we love the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Lake Tahoe. It is 30 minutes from the Reno Airport and 5 minutes from the lake.

We have been vacationing here with our children and friends for years. Every Spring Break we ski and snowboard and Summers we hike, river raft, play tennis, play at the lake, eat ice cream cones, and play miniature golf.

Now we we enjoy all these activities with our grandkids. Last Winter they learned to ski at Diamond Peak and for the past 3 summers have attended IVGID's 'Camp Extreme.'

When we are both retired we plan to live part time here and part time in Hawaii.

What makes this house unique

Summer or Winter, the Lake Tahoe area is glorious. In the Summer you can hike, swim, play golf or tennis, and enjoy all the outdoor pursuits the lake has to offer. In the winter the skiing and winter sports are fabulous. Diamond Peak ski area is just minutes from the house and there are also many other ski areas close by, including North Star and Alpine Meadows, .

Year round you can enjoy wonderful restaurants and many unique and fun shopping opportunities. And of course there are the casinos for those who like to gamble.

In the mornings we like to sit on the porch with our coffee or tea surrounded by the forest and enjoy the smell of pine trees and the azure blue sky.

Our favorite hike is near Incline Peek through the forest to a lovely waterfall.

In the Winter our children and grandchildren build 'luge' runs and jumps in the yard and ride through the snow on their snowboards and tubes.

Needs a little TLC

After a hard winter, there is a lot of general maintenance that needs to be done. The curb appeal was disappointing as the driveway was covered with pine needles and branches and there was garbage under the melting snow. The house is cozy and comfortable, just needs a good deep cleaning of cobwebs.

We enjoyed our stay, tried to to leave it in better condition than we found it.

Nice cozy house at the end of a driveway

Great house to relax in the Tahoe mountains. There's a large kitchen, nice L shaped couch and a recliner chair. Balcony has a partial view of Lake Tahoe through the trees.

One word of caution - the floor boards creek noticeably and from downstairs bedrooms you can hear every step of someone walking in the upstairs master bedroom.

The host and Goldfish were great at communicating the details of the trip and were very accommodating.

Spring Break Getaway

Finding the house was a bit tricky, there was so much snow we could not see the street signs. Thank goodness for smart phones. Upon entering we noticed right away the kitchen window was cracked. We called and reported it right away. The service we called, took some time and was kinda hard to understand. We also were not able to find the"Bear Box"(due to snow)to put the trash, one day we had to haul it away ourselves and when we checked out we had to leave a about 3 small bags.

These were our only concern. The home was beautiful and updated in all the right ways. Instructions to get in and out were easy. We would use this property again. And, are already planning a trip next summer.

Owner's Response: We appreciate the feedback. The amount of snow this season, while providing lots of fun activities has also has caused some problems for many of the home owners in the area. The Street signs are covered in snow and at our house our metal trash can is covered in so much snow we can't find it. We have asked the rental service to put a trash can on the porch for our guests to use. The window cracked due to heavy snow fall on the porch. We have asked the rental service to arrange to have it replaced, which I believe has been done. We live in Hawaii, so have to rely on Goldfish Properties to take care of our guest and any problems that arise at the house. Mainly, we are happy that you like the house and had a fun spring break vacation. Sincerely, Christine

Nice and cozy

The house was nice and cozy and we enjoyed our stay after the 1st night. My complaint is that the people who manage the place should have went and cleared the snow from the entrance to the house, the backyard desk and off the garbage. It's was horrible when we arrived and had to crawl through the snow to find the front door. We were not able to use the backyard deck as it was buried with snow, the garbage was also buried and we had to leave our garbage inside the house for the week end. Nice house but horrible management that's why I only gave 1 star. Oh and the upstairs bedroom doesn't seem to have the heater going in so it was freezing while the other part of the house was warm.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry that the snow was not cleared from our porches when this guest arrived. They got in after a huge storm that also covered our outside trash can in about 6 feet of snow. To make sure this doesn't happen again, we have instructed our snow removal service to make sure that the walkway is cleared before our guests arrive. We also have contact information for the service at the house in case our guests need to get in touch with them. We hope that future guest will contact us or our rental agency in Incline if they need help with snow conditions at the house.

Nice house, challenging situation

This is a lovely home close to Diamond Peak Ski Resort. The beds are comfy and we appreciated having a washer and dryer during our 5 day stay. The kitchen is adequately stocked with the basics. We arrived during a snowstorm and saw 4 feet accumulate in 72 hours. Unfortunately, we were trapped in the home for 36 hours. We made the most of it by playing board games, (there are several available in thehome) and playing in the snow.

The home gets warm and cozy downstairs. However, the master bedroom is much colder than the rest of the house. The master bathroom tiled floor was very cold. The tiny vents, one in the master bedroom floor and one in the bathroom floor do not adequately warm these two rooms. We found a fan in one of the closets. We set it in the loft and blew warmer air into the bedroom. We placed towels strategically on the bathroom floor to avoid a chill. I’m certain this is not an issue for guests staying during the spring, summer or fall months.

Goldfish Agency was closed the day we arrived Jan. 2nd (holiday we were told). On day 2 they did bring us one plastic snow shovel. However, after we learned winter supplies were locked beneath the home, no one from Goldfish would return to unlock the storage. The owners asked Goldfish to unlock firewood, sleds and shovels stored beneath the home to no avail. On day 3 Goldfish was closed due to the storm and did not respond to messages left with their answering service. We were left on our on to dig out with one snow shovel. The home is at the end of a very long driveway. It could not be plowed until we dug our car out.

Suggestions -- When snow is forecasted, ready the cabin with the following:

1. Snow shovels (We started to dig the car out with hands, arms and feet until we got one snow shovel from the rental agency.)

2. Provide a sled with a handle or rope for pulling luggage and groceries from car down the long driveway to house over snow. Luggage is heavy and the wheels don’t roll through the snow.

3. Provide information on where to park if snow is forecasted.

4. Add the name and phone number of person responsible for plowing out the driveway in information book left inside the house.

5. Provide the firewood as promised.

Relaxing Mountain Home

We had a wonderful 4th of July week! The home was comfortable and well equipped…we found everything we needed. Beautifully renovated bathrooms and plenty of space for all. We enjoyed dining and relaxing on the deck and were close to all the activities going on that week in Incline Village. Fireworks show was great!! So much to do in the area…went hiking, golfing,(love the Mountain Course), boating and hanging out at Incline Beach. We would definitely recommend to family and friends. Love to stay in the winter too!
