About Susie

Our retreat is one hour driveway to driveway from home and we love to come UTH. So relaxing to sit on the deck and watch the critters.

Susie purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Susie chose Moonridge

We have owned one other Big Bear vacation home. This is our second 'fixer-upper'. We spend summers fishing. Don't ski anymore but hope you will enjoy our location so very near to Bear Mt.

Both our daughter and grandson learned to ski in the San Bernardino Mountains.

What makes this cabin unique

You can catch a shuttle between Bear Mt and Summit and leave you car parked at base of Bear Mt. If heavy snow you can actually ski down the street to the top of the bunny hill if you get out before the snow plow.

Great weekend in the snow!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our family of four. It was very clean and well-stocked with regard to kitchenware, bathroom needs, blankets, etc. It is very near some great sledding spots including behind the cabin itself. Highly recommend it, especially at this price range.

Christmas in Big Bear

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the ROCKSPRAY cabin. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, pots and pans to cook and serve a full Christmas dinner. The bathrooms have lots of towels and soaps. (bring your own shampoo). They even left peanuts with which to feed the squirrels. The birds, squirrels and chipmunks were a constant form of entertainment. Convenient parking is right outside.

Nice Stay - Couple Thoughts

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice little weekend staying at this cabin. Check-in and check-out was very accommodating. House looks just like the pics. Heads up if you have small children, just be aware that the loft railing has very wide openings. Plenty wide for little bodies to fall right through. Easy enough to block stairs an such, but it's just part of the lay of the land here.

We did do some fun sledding on the hill between. They got a huge dump of snow about a week and half prior to our stay. It was a bit disappointing and dangerous that the stairs leading to the door weren't dug out. With stairs underneath the snow, this made things dangerous when your foot fell through. Made for a tough load in and load out.

Owner's Response: Thank you Kelly W. for your review. So glad you and your family enjoyed the Big Bear experience and were able to snow play right at the cabin. Thank you for acknowledging that the photos are accurate. After checking with our property managers, I can only guess that you must have been trying to enter the cabin at the front stairs rather than the stairs from the parking pad, as these stairs are always cleared. The large storms which occurred in early 2017 made it very difficult for all to provide in and out for guests. I am happy that our service and the Big Bear City street plows allowed you access. We would look forward to seeing you and your daughters again soon. Susie

THIS IS THE BEST CABIN!!! Walking distance to Bear Mountain and the owners are amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was super clean and perfect for any family. We had an adventurous weekend with the biggest snow storm Big Bear has had in 25 years. Being a single Mom with three little boys, the owners checked on us regularly to make sure we were ok and managing in the snow. As stressful as being snowed in can be, this beautiful cabin felt like home. We were able to walk easily the 400 meters to the ski resort. I can't wait to make more memories with my family here! Highly recommend this cabin!!!!!!!!!!!!! Management was also attentive to any unexpected challenges that this storm brought our way.

So much cabin space and right next to Bear Mountain

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely time at this cabin! We welcomed 2017 with friends and kids ranging from 2 to 9 years in age. What I liked most of all is how spacious this cabin is. The den has a queen size sofa sleeper and closes off with a sliding door that separates it from the dining room, so it could be turned into a third bedroom if needed. And there is plenty of space outside for snow play. Our kids would step out every morning to play around and use the snow sleds provided by the owner. Another great plus is that it's right next to Bear Mountain so getting there is a breeze.

Comfortable, quiet, great location

  • 5 of 5

Rockspray Retreat was the perfect getaway for our family of six. The cabin was very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for four great nights. An added plus for our teenagers was really hot water and good shower water pressure. From the cabin we could easily hike in the national forest, drop the kids at the slopes, and walk to the zoo. We enjoyed filling the squirrel feeder on the cabin deck and watching the wildlife.
