We live in the Denver metro area and love spending time at our cabin with the Rocky Mountains as our playground.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2009
We bought this 1.5 acre piece of land because of the amazing mountain views and its ideal location in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. We built our cabin in an environmentally-friendly way and have been enjoying it immensely and renting it out for others to enjoy as well.
We love to sit out on the deck in the summer and enjoy the beautiful mountain views, cozy up in front of the wood-burning stove in the winter, and enjoy everything that the Rocky Mountains have to offer!
This was a perfect spot and cabin for our family. They allowed us to bring our two dogs which was a deal-breaker. The cabin felt secluded and we had plenty of room before running into another house. The inside was beautiful and there were great pots and pans to cook with. Overall I highly recommend this property!
The cabin was perfect for us and I would recommend it to future renters.
My family of 7 visited Colorado and stayed in this cabin and had an amazing time. The view was absolutely stunning and created a picturesque backdrop every morning and evening. The close proximity to great hikes, mountain biking, visits to Breckenridge and Alma made for a great vacation with very little drive time. We even saw a moose, a red fox, and some deer right outside the cabin!
The description of this property was accurate, clean, appeared well maintained and exceeded our expectations. One thing to keep in mind is that the cabin is over 10,000 feet in elevation, so it took a day or so to get use to the lower oxygen levels. However, I would say that this is normal if you plan on staying in this area.
I recommend this cabin and am glad that we had the chance to spend time here.
Spacious cabin located ~10,000 ft elevation just south of Hoosier Pass in Placer Valley district. Has all the amenities and you can sit on the deck and relax to views of Mount Lincoln and Bross.
We had a family reunion with our adult children and there was plenty of room for all.
Comfortable and relaxing home and settings.
Easy access to Breckenridge, Alma and FairPlay when you need groceries, gas or shopping.
Our family enjoys hiking and the cabin was perfectly located for easy access to Mounts Democrat, Lincoln and Sherman (and Quandary) as well as numerous shorter mountain hikes. Not to mention, the local walk on Cty 4 to the Reservoir and up to the Magnolia Mine and waterfall was a daily favorite!
Loved the house and location. 20 minutes to Breck, 20 minutes to Fairplay. The cabin is very well laid out, and the concrete floors kept us from worrying about kids and dogs tracking stuff in. The loft is big enough use the futon and put a couple of kids on an air mattress. The kitchen had everything we needed - coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, utensils. There are neighbors, but they're not too close, and the trees make it feel very private. For those interested in fishing Montgomery Reservoir - the description said that it is within "walking distance", which is technically true, but don't think you can just cross the street and throw a line in (like I did). If you want to fish, enjoy the waterfall, or hike up Wheeler Pass, you will need to get to the north side of the reservoir, which means that you will be walking the roads about a mile to get to there, and if a car passes you, you'd be covered in dust. The south end of the reservoir is very close, but I believe fishing is not allowed off the dam. Fortunately, you can hop in your car and be at the parking area in about 5 minutes. Fairplay Beach is about a 25 minute drive from the cabin, and is a great place for fishing especially with kids, but when we were there in June, the road to the parking area was washed out, and the walk in is not easy - it's either down a very steep hill, or over rocks that you will need to be very careful not to turn an ankle on. Blue Lakes is just on the north side of Hoosier Pass, on the way to Breck - not sure how the fishing is, but just hanging out with a picnic lunch and enjoying the view is worth the trip. Our cell phones did not work at the cabin - I received a couple of texts while at the cabin, but could not respond, and even though I showed one bar of signal, every call I tried to make dropped. Owner's responded very quickly to any communication. The ONLY issue is that there weren't enough mirrors. Only one bedroom has one. There is a mirror in the upstairs bathroom, but there's only a pedestal sink, so there's nowhere to set hair dryer or curling iron down (a shelf in the corner would be a big help). And with no mirror in the master bedroom, I had to bring my stuff down to the 1st floor bathroom which has a nice big vanity and mirror. Between myself, my sister-in-law, my mother, and my 15 year old niece all needing mirrors, it was like playing musical bathrooms to all get showered and ready in the mornings. Overall, we loved it and had a great time!
2 small families (4 adults, 3 kids total) stayed at the cabin for a few days, and the cabin was great. Fantastic location, very comfortable, and the owners are great. The only issue we faced was with the internet connection, that wasn't working as expected, but other than that, everything as it should have been expected. The owners are very friendly, helpful and responsive. Highly recommended.
