Tucson AZ vacation apartment in Restored historic 1800’s adobe house. Fully renovated and very comfortable. Lots of beautiful redwood trim, hardwood floors and 10 to 15 foot ceilings. Bedroom, den, sitting room, bath and kitchen fully equipped. The property accommodates a maximum of two adults and two related children.

The house is centrally located in the historic Iron Horse Neighborhood within walking distance of the University of Arizona campus and to downtown and the historic 4th Avenue retail district.

The vacation apartment is comfortably furnished and includes a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom with a queen sized bed, a beautiful restored sitting room with 12-15 foot beam ceiling, pine and redwood paneled Den with flat screen HDTV, internet-ready Sony box, satelitte direct TV cable, and DVD video library with as well as a Queen-sized sofa sleeper, and tiled bath with tub with massage water jets. Off-street parking is provided for compact vehicles as well as on-street parking directly in front of the house.

Pets are welcome and the property includes a small fully fenced private yard with granite patio.

The architectural style of the house is “Transformed Sonoran”, typified by high adobe wall construction with a framed peaked roof. The house was probably built originally as a “railroad house” to house Union Pacific railroad workers in the late 1800’s. Later the house was owned by the western photographer Albert S. Reynolds in the early 1900’s, and was kept in the family until 1987. We purchased the property in 2006 and spent several years restoring the house.

About Andrew

We purchased this house in 2006 and have been restoring and renovating it since then. The house is divided into 2 apartments and we occupy one of these. We manage the vacation rental studio and are there to provide vacationers and travelers with a comfortable stay.

We purchased the property to restore, to offer as an historic rental, and to live in. The location is very convenient for Travelers coming to the down town Tucson area, and the U. of A.

Location is great

Cozy accommodation ideal for 2 people. 90 degree days and 45 degree nights in March but we didn’t need to use the AC or heat once. Kitchen is functional (thanks for the coffee beans and wine!) but why cook when 4th Ave is a 5-minute stroll away? Coronet Cafe burgers are great. Athens for Greek. Tall Boys for morning-after huevos rancheros... The University is a 5-minute stroll up Euclid with Starbucks, Woops! bakery, Time Market and many eateries with a lively vibe. Downtown core is just a 10-minute walk to Fox Theatre and other great spots. Andrew and Brenae were fine hosts - very responsive on arrival and we didn’t need to contact them for anything at all during our week stay. Parking on the street was always available directly in front - if you have a small car it will fit in the fenced backyard, but no need really. No washer/dryer but the Cool Cat laundry at 6th and Fremont is very close - clean and reasonable. Fair Wheel Bikes is attached to it and offer daily rentals, maps, and advice. Check out The Loop trail, a scenic path around the city where you can ride up to 130 miles if you have the stamina. Back to the house - it has been renovated with high ceilings and nice touches. It’s a long, narrow space divided into four rooms (bed, kitchen, living/dining and entry lounge). Full bathroom is off the kitchen. TV system is fine and there’s WIFI too, but it could use a boost in strength. If you plan to spend most of your time in the house during your visit to Tucson, this may not be the best place for you as it is quite small. But if you plan to be out and about seeing the sights as we did, it’s a cozy and perfect place to return to at the end of the day or evening. Highly recommended!!

This little house has everything we needed.

We had a wonderful time in Tucson. There is so much to do and see and all so reachable. As a bonus, the heart of Downtown with cafes and restaurants is just five minutes walk away. A lovely stay! Thank you Andrew.

Beautiful downtown location

This casita, located three blocks from University Avenue and the University of Arizona, is beautifully remodeled with lots of wood accents. It is a very walkable neighborhood and the university has lots of shops and restaurants to offer along with a beautiful campus to walk through. It is near many parks, hiking trails and farmers markets. You can see the mountains from your front porch and the backyard is a perfect place to have coffee in the morning.. We will return! Andrew and his family are adelightful and very helpful! Don't forget to pet Mr. Phil the neighborhood cat who wanders about freely.

Cute, handy

Very charming with a good location for walking to university and downtown. Only downsides are lack of off-street parking and lethargic wi-fi, adequate for email. Andrew was always helpful.
