Beautiful apartment!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved this apartment. It was lovely - immaculate and well stocked. The owners have decorated it beautifully and left no detail out, right down to Q-tips, bug spray, and anything else a traveler might need. The location is a bit off the beaten path but we loved that. It feels like you are in the rain forest. We went to sleep to the coqui frog sounds and awoke to the birds singing. The owners, Dave and Bonnie, were wonderful to work with. Highly recommend this property. It's a little piece of heaven!!

Great Location and Space!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time staying with David, Bonnie and the pups. The upstairs apartment is very spacious and clean. The place is very well equipped and has everything you could possibly need for cooking. The welcome fruit was delicious and we would certainly recommend the place to our friends. The location is great for traveling around that part of the island and we did many day trips to the volcano national park and the coast. A gem and great value!

This suite was incredibly detailed, clean and well equipped. It was a perfect location to explore the VNP.

The tree frogs were loud but what can you do about nature?

Delightful hosts with beautiful rural house and surroundings

  • 5 of 5

The friendly hosts David and Bonnie met us upon arrival, gave us a brief tour, and answered questions. The location was just right for our visit, about halfway between Volcano's National Park and Hilo surrounded by a green forest. Lovely decorations accented the beautiful wood floors and furniture. We took advantage of the tourist literature and books to read. The dogs were very friendly and well behaved. We enjoyed sitting on the patio while eating breakfast. When the can opener broke, the owner brought us another one in 5 minutes (at 9 pm). The owners also provided fresh papaya, lime, and pineapple. We appreciated the loaner cooler, beach towels, and bug spray on our excursions. My family enjoyed retreating to his place each evening. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful place off the beaten path

  • 5 of 5

The craftsmanship and decor of this place is beautiful! It has an "old Europe meets Hawaii" style. The kitchen has most every condiment and spice you could need. The bathroom was well stocked as well. It's off the beaten path, but we liked that it is remote. It's like being in the jungle. The tree frogs are loud, but cool. The mosquitoes are bad, so if you get bitten easily apply insect repellent when opening the gate and going from the car to house. My husband was fine, but they love me. The location is perfect for exploring the volcano. It's about a 20 minute drive, so we spent the days hiking in the volcano, returned for dinner and a rest, then went back to see the volcano at night.

Bonnie and Dave are great hosts. We mostly spoke with Bonnie and she was very sweet and helpful during our stay.

Exceeded our expectations in every aspect

  • 5 of 5

We could not believe our eyes when David gave us a tour of the appartment. It's so well kept and clean... it has everything you can expect and then more. Everything was provided, from condiments in the fridge, to a bowl of fresh fruit (amazing idea), beach towels and flashlights. The location is at first very confusing, but it kinda grows on you and you really feel like you're living in the jungle there, it's so peaceful. David was really discreet and we didn't get to meet Bonnie, we would have loved to be able to socialize a little more, but to be honest, we were always out early in the morning and back late at night.

David and Bonnie, maybe you should share the exact GPS coordinates with guests because even when you have all the directions and you're arriving at night, under the pouring rain and in the fog, it can get confusing. Other than that, amazing stay!
