Why Grant chose Blakeslee
With a long family history right here in the Stoddartsville / Blakeslee area, dating back to the early 1800's, I feel very privileged for the opportunity to share this beautiful spot with those who appreciate all that nature has to offer. In all my travels, I haven't found a place more peaceful and relaxing than right here in Stoddartsville. The air is clean and crisp and the sounds of the river flowing by allow you to truly recharge and getaway from the rush of daily life.
What makes this Cabin unique
The views of the Lehigh River from the cabin are spectacular year-round. The privacy offered by this unique setting creates a true escape from the stresses of daily life. Originally built in 1911 and used as a prop in a silent movie in 1917, this cabin has been completely renovated and upgraded with all the modern amenities while maintaining the charm you would expect of a cabin in the mountains. You have to experience it for yourself to truly appreciate all that the Lehigh Cabin has to offer!

Lehigh cabin stay
A very quaint and wonderful place. Beautiful scenery and location for Mountain View’s are superb.
We loved our stay. This cabin is perfect for 2 and as described. The location is ideal as a central hub to visit many nearby towns such as Lake Harmony, Jim Thorpe, Bear Creek, Wilkes-Barre, I could go on - all less than an hour away. The nearby town has everything you could need including many great eateries like Chat N Chew (breakfast & lunch) and Woody's Country House on 115 (sit outside!) to name just a couple - there are many! The rustic cabin faces the Lehigh river and when sitting out back in the cool cool shade even on a hot summer day (the cabin stayed super cool inside and that was so nice) looking at and hearing the river with the dense trees and foliage you could be in the wilderness alone even with 2 other cabins on the property that are nearby but not intrusive. There is a beautiful pond around the corner from the cabin with koi and a couple of other fish along with a pretty waterfall effect. Ask the property owner, who was genial and helpful, about a sweet 3/4 mile hike that ends with an accessible river point and getting down to another river access point nearer his property (which is right near the rental cabins, but, again, in no way intrusive). Honestly, the pictures and my description do not do this rental justice. I was immediately so relaxed and happy and I could read in total peace at the cabin overlooking the river, take a little sun in the morning by the peaceful koi pond with a couple chairs the owners placed there to relax in, or walk nearby or drive or eat, it was really perfection for us. Also I must say that I've stayed in many cabins but this was, by far, the cleanest I've ever been in. The bed was super comfy too. Loved!!! Thank you Jeff and Grant, we would absolutely return! Lisa & Norbert :)
Snug cabin with stunning river view
This clean, snug cabin for two with its rustic decor is perfect for two. It overlooks a tree-filled drop down to the tea-colored Lehigh River, providing a very peaceful soundtrack to the entire experience. The ultimate in relaxation.
The owner, Grant, makes everything easy without being in any way intrusive—so, altogether, the perfect weekend.
Everything I hoped for from the rustling sounds of the Leigh to the little family of chipmunks visiting every day. My wife and I sat for hours on the deck listening to nature and really was able to relax. I recommend a stay here if you need to get away from stress. Everything you need is right there in the cabin to cook a meal and watch a little TV and kickback. The waterfall is a must see and if there is a need to there are a few good places to eat nearby. Can’t wait to go back.
Cozy and clean we will recommend to both friends and family😊
A wonderful, private little cabin
My wife and I loved our time at the Lehigh Cabin. It was the perfect place to enjoy our honeymoon. The subtle scent of firewood when you walk in the door is great, the constant sound of the river is peaceful, the kitchen is compact, but has everything you need, and the bed is nice and cozy. We love the outdoors, so it was just right for us. We found lots of things to do within a 45 minute radius, such as hike part of the Appalachian Trail, visit Scranton's Steamtown museum, and experiencing the town of Jim Thorpe, a beautiful little town that also has a very affordible scenic railway. We would love to come back again someday.
There are many sights to see in and around the Poconos. Whether you enjoy skiing, bird-watching, nature walks, scenic drives, hunting, fishing, or just relaxing along the river or by the fire, you will find exactly what you are looking for!
