About Lee and Roxanne Dunn

Lee and Roxanne Dunn enjoy sharing the Log House and Cobblestone House with vacationers while living in year-round in another house on the Ranch. Lee and Roxanne grew up in Colorado, and both moved to Montana in 1989 and 1992 respectively.

Lee and Roxanne Dunn purchased this cottage in 1989

Why Lee and Roxanne Dunn chose Montana

Lee and Roxanne were attracted to this area because of a combination of wide open space and mountain views. The section of land that the Ranch is located has a lake and three creeks which are flowing year-round. This makes it special because it draws all sorts of wildlife.

What makes this cottage unique

The vacation homes on the Ranch are up to date with all the comforts of home, yet the backdrop is spectacular, with breathtaking views of the Absaroka Beartooth Mountains and wildlife passing near the houses. Guests can enjoy walks in the aspen grove, cottonwoods, grass fields, and creek bottoms. The ranch is a peaceful and a quiet place to stay and one can have as much solitude as you like. But if it is activities that you desire there are plenty of those on the ranch and nearby. Another added benefit, is the peace of mind knowing that the Ranch's owners lives on the ranch in a separate house and can assist guests, if needed.

We are next door to Tippet Rise Art Center, a 11,500 acre - one of a kind - sculpture park and classical music venue. See for more information.

The Cobblestone has interesting features only found in a historic home. If you would enjoy a sense of history while at the same modern conveniences, then this is the place for you. The floor makes a creaking sound when you walk on the hardwood, there is a bow in the kitchen floor as it is the oldest part of the house. There is no dishwasher, however, a drying rack and dish drying towels are provided. We love the original farm style sink which allows for the authentic experience of early Montana ranching days. We provide pellets for the decorative glass front stove, with lighting instructions, if needed. The house is all one level there is one step to come up in order to get into the house. Inside doorways may not be wide enough for some wheel chairs. Most of the sights, including the lake can be driven to, however, we would prefer you walk if it is muddy so as not to leave deep ruts in the paths around the Ranch.

Relaxing Ranch with a beautiful view.

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely property. Peaceful, beautiful and close to town. The house is well equipped and gives you a feel for the local history. The lake is pristine and has migrating and breeding ducks and geese. The ranch meadows are full of beautiful wild flowers. If you want to see Montana at it's best this is a place to go.

Loved the Cobblestone house...peaceful, quiet, comfy cozy. One of the cleanest & best stocked homes we've stayed in. Although we didn't get to meet our hosts, it was obvious they know the meaning of hospitality. I enjoyed painting on the enclosed porch (great light) while hubby did his woodcarving on the outside bench facing the mountains. Highly recommended! P.S.--the free jar of honey was a great gift..and sooooo good. Thank you.

Montana getaway at a ranch in the foothills that allows you time to see our beautiful earth

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is part of a ranch hidden in the hills of Montana. It is a great place to escape to if you want to spend time with your friends or family members, getting reacquainted.

We used greens from the garden to make salads and raw honey to make dressings. We explored the hills, watched the deer and wild turkey in the yard, and sat on the bench overlooking the vast hills of Montana.

The house is fully stocked with all of the necessities, the beds are inviting, and the kitchen has a table that invites you to sit and enjoy the company.

We will definitely return!

Magnificent place to stay, very tranquil and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the cobblestone house. Upon arriving we were gifted with home grown honey and farm fresh eggs. We were also invited by Lee and Roxanne to enjoy fresh greens from their garden.

Through out our stay we enjoyed the pastoral setting and sweeping views, along with the abundance of wildlife, farm animals, and a beautiful double rainbow.

The proximity to Tippet Rise was such a plus as we took a morning tour, spent the afternoon at the ranch and then returned to Tippet Rise for the evening dinner and concert.

Thank you Lee and Roxanne for a peaceful, quiet place to spend sister time together.
