Why Nancy or Dean Smith chose East Central

Caseville is a community with many opportunities for people that like to visit unique areas of Michigan. Unfortunately, Caseville does not have many hotels for people with large family groups to stay at. We bought this home with this in mind and hope that you enjoy the site.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage offers year round rentals with your own private beach, beautiful sunsets, jet ski and kayak rental within a mile, Caseville festivals, deer hunters have an opportunity to hunt on private land. Goose and pheasant hunting is also a popular sport in the fall months. Ice fisheman and snowmobilers have direct access to the lake and a place to warm up in on cold days. And, since the home is open throughout the year wedding rentals are available year around!

Great place for an extended family retreat

  • 5 of 5

1 story with 4 beds and 2 baths and laundry was perfect for our family. We have kids, ages 5 and 8, and the beach was perfect for them as well as wifi access to some favorite shows on the rainy days. Dean was quick to help with our wifi issue and it worked flawlessly after. The cabin fit us well with a large table to enjoy meals while watching the water. A couple small maintenance repairs would have helped, as my elderly parents struggled on the uneven pavers out front and down to the beach without a railing. No big deal, and definitely still worth the 5 stars. Hoping to be back next year!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

House location? Fantastic. Private beach? Amazing. Owner? Friendly.

The private beach is sandy and shallow which makes it perfect for floating islands, little kids, pets, and people who don't want/like to swim in deep water.

I'd recommend this property anytime. I will definitely be booking again.

Great weekend get away to see the colorful leaves in Mid-October.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The property was very clean. The kitchen was well-stocked for preparing breakfast and lunch. The property description is accurate and the pictures depict it well. It is so amazing to find a rental home with four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The owners were extremely helpful. I would suggest you get driving directions directly from them and not rely on mapquest or a GPS. Several of the roads in the thumb of MI have two names or change names. We inconvenienced Nancy by taking a wrong turn and did not arrive as early as she expected us. Sat night we locked the key in the cottage so Dean had to come over and let us in. They were very gracious.Next time we will make sure we leave a light on to make it easier to find the property in the dark and we will be sure to take the key with us to dinner.

It rained on Saturday but we visited the farmers' market, watched a college football game and ate lunch in Port Austin. We also visited the Historical Museum which is only open on Sat and Sun. Very interesting to learn about the fire which took more than 250 lives and made 15,000 persons homeless but it did enrich the soil for farming. We enjoyed learning about Pointe Aux Barques and we intend to go back next fall when some of the homes will be open for a tour.

We saw all the Halloween activities in Sleeper State Park. The campsites were decorated and there were hayrides, trick or treating, etc. Looked like a great family event. It is held several weekends in Oct.

We would definitely visit this vacation home again. I hope we get lots of rain and snow this year so that the water level will rise in Lake Huron.
