Great with a huge caveat

  • 2 of 5

First, the good news. This is a charming little cabin in a beautiful setting. Now, the bad news. There is an overpowering odor that I can only assume is related to sewage. It permeated our clothing. I could never stay here again unless that problem is addressed.

quiet little hideway

  • 2 of 5

the property is situated in a beautiful setting. the actual cabin is tiny... 2 to 4 people max. furniture is old and uncomfortable. the kitchen needs a lot of basic stuff. takes 15 mins for the tiny coffee maker to brew. no microwave. the cabin had a strange mildew odor...basically, it needs a lot of work because overall, it's pretty dirty and needs a lot of upgrading...or maybe just a complete detailed cleaning. we realize we're not at the Belaggio in Vegas... but a little pride of ownership will change this from a 2 star to a 5 star. won't be back... i've rented dozens of cabins around the west coast and this was definitely on the bottom of my list.

Great location! Near all the great sites

  • 4 of 5

Cool little place that was recently refinished. The kitchen and bathroom are beautiful and the sleeping arrangements were very comfortable. I would recommend getting to the property before sunset as there is minimal lightening in the area under the tree canopy. The only down side I saw to the property was that it smelled like mildew so we kept the windows and door open as much as possible. The wifi connection wasn't strong enough to facilitate any internet time (which I liked!)- but I wouldn't go in thinking that the connection is reliable.

Great Redwood location, rustic, bohemian experience.

  • 3 of 5

This cabin is nestled in a Redwood grove that makes for a spectacular location! Owner was pleasent and informative. Property is as described in photos, a bohemian feel, and rustic. Loft bed was comfortable and clean. About what we expected, however, there was an odd smell inside the cabin that was difficult to overcome and became a buzz kill to the experience. Windows & door did not have screens, so it was difficult to open the place up to air out without acquiring bugs of the season. Could use some simple upgrades, as this location really has potential to be something amazing.

Rustic cabin in the woods, in a peaceful location close to Big Sur

  • 4 of 5

Rustic but well appointed little cabin, with everything we needed for a nice stay. The location is great, secluded and quiet, but still close to Big Sur. The house and trees are covered in twinkly lights, which were magical ; )

Though the cabin was mostly clean, it did have a heavy moldy/musty smell that was rough on my husband who has asthma and allergies. He basically couldn't breathe well inside the cabin.

The wood burning stove heated the cabin nicely and was cozy, and ready to go for us when we arrived. We were cold and got a little over zealous, putting too many logs in the fire, which made it difficult to sleep up in the loft, which got super hot. The bedroom, on the other hand, was rather cold with the door shut. We ended up sleeping on the futon in the living room.

There's a tv, which we didn't use, and wifi, which was suuuuper slow, but that was ok! We just ended up playing board games, which were stocked in the pantry.

Other than the asthma attacks and odor, we had a lovely stay!
