This Apartment is on the 2nd floor of a pre-war building on a tree lined street in the lovely Halensee neighborhood with plenty of restaurants, cafes, bakeries and shops in walking distance and easy access to public transportation. It has been completely remodeled in 2013 and offers a luxurious and cozy home away from home to discover the exciting city of Berlin.
The Halensee neighborhood is located in the former American Sector of Berlin, nestled between the Grunewald area with its elegant mansions and expansive woodlands and the bustling West Berlin city center with the Ku’damm as its main shopping boulevard. It offers easy access to the museums and major tourist attractions of the West and East Berlin city centers as well as the ICC convention center and the Tegel airport, and is ideal for families and couples as well as single tourists and business travelers.

The Apartment includes two separate bedrooms, a large living room, a modern kitchen with dining area, 1 full and 2 half bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, the second bedroom has a large closet and twin sized bunk beds. The living room has a cozy seating area with flat-screen TV and a separate dining/work/game table. the couches can be converted into queen sized beds, offering additional sleeping space for 4 people. The modern open kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave/oven combination, toaster, coffee maker, water heater, cooking utensils and dinnerware. It includes a dining area with seating for up to 8 people. All bathrooms are brand new and are accessible from the common areas. There is one full and two half bathrooms (one with toilet and sink and one with shower and sink).
Wireless internet is available throughout the apartment at no additional cost. Check-in and check-out times are flexible. Luggage storage is available at the owner's apartment in the same building. The Tegel airport is a 15 minute taxi ride away (fare ca. 15€/ US$ 20). The closest train station is Halensee and can be reached within a 5 minute walk, the nearest bus stop and a taxi station are located on the corner.

Ever since my kids have been out of the house I have been thinking about purchasing another apartment for short-term rentals. I love to travel and make new contacts, and personally prefer to stay at private rentals rather than large hotels.
When a unit in my building (which I have lived in for almost 30 years) became available I was very excited about the opportunity to be able to host visitors in this lovely neighborhood. Dining, shopping, entertainment and recreation are all easily accessible and make this the perfect spot to experience everything this unique city has to offer. After days packed with history, attractions and urban living you can return to a homey environment at night to relax and reflect on the impressions of the day.
After a complete remodel, the apartment is finally ready to welcome you as guests!

As a special benefit of living in the same building that the rental unit is in I know the neighborhood very well and I am always happy to provide tips about must see attractions as well as local eateries and activities off the beaten path.
Overall we enjoyed our stay with Susanne and would recommend the place to families visiting Berlin. The location is perfect, just far enough west to be away from tourism and just far enough east to be outside of the affluent catchment of Charlottenburg (not really our speed). There is a grocery near by and plenty of cafes and patios to enjoy.
We travelled as a group, two couples. The master bedroom is quite comfortable, and there are a pair of bunkbeds as well. However, the pull out couch in the living room was awful after a couple of days; it would benefit from a mattress pad to improve comfort.
Another concern was communication. Although WiFi was included, the internet service provider is choking out SIPS protocols. If you're hoping to use a VoIP device, you're out of luck. Couldn't even get around it with a VPN. This is not the host's doing, but rather the ISP.
Overall though a well appointed apartment and a very friendly, helpful host! Thanks Susanne!
We have only high praise for Susanne's apartment just off of Berlin's famous Ku'Damm Street. The apartment is very large and comfortable and, with the high ceilings, feels that much more spacious. It has all the amenities one could need (two bathrooms and one separate toilet room), a lovely living room with flat screen television, good water pressure, well-equipped kitchen, etc. No in-unit washing machine...but we found a laundry just around the corner. The apartment is surrounded by every possible shop and restaurant one could want. Transportation is excellent from this location (buses to the Zoo Garten about 100 feet from the apartment that run every 3-6 minutes, an S-Bahn station about one long block away...and a U-Bahn Station (Adenauer Platz) about three long blocks away). We were extremely happy with the apartment and with Susanne who was very helpful and accessible but also respectful of her guests' privacy.
Our family of four loved this appartment. Very clean, spacious and well organized! The beds were very comfortable, the appartment was spotless and the location very convenient - a short 5 minute walk to the S-Bahn which links you to the city's transit system and allows you to get anywhere. Grocery stores, bakeries and pharmacies just around the corner. Thank you very much!
My son and I recently spent 4 nights in this spacious and quiet apartment. A grocery store (open till midnight), bakery, drug store, pharmacy and plenty of restaurants are a very short walk away.
Communicating with the owner, Susanne, was really easy. She usually replied to my emails within a few hours.
The apartment is in a lovely neighborhood but a fair distance from most tourist attractions. There are several bus lines close by that will take you to the S or U Bahn, but it takes a while and busses can be crowded during rush hour.
Unfortunately, this apartment does not have a washing machine, however, a laundromat is relatively close by.
Our family was very pleased with this apartment. It was spacious and the location was great - public transportation close by, but located in a quiet neighborhood. Bus stop was one block away and train just 2-stops away on the bus route. Very easy to get to visit so many great sites in Berlin. Grocery store, bakery, wine store, produce stand, restaurants and drugstore all a very short walk from apartment. The unit accommodated my husband and myself in a large bedroom, daughter and son-in-law on sleep sofa in living room, and young grandchildren in bunk beds in 2nd bedroom. Susanne was very easy to reach with all questions and helpful suggestions before we arrived and throughout our stay. We experienced a slight hiccup with noisy construction in the building and playground next door, but that was remedied within a couple of days. Would definitely rent this apartment again. Note to runners: this was a fantastic city for running - wide sidewalks in the city, public track close by, and trails along lakes and through the Schlos Charlotensburg.
Our 3 generation family stayed in Suzanne's lovely, well-appointed apartment. If anything, it was more spacious and artfully decorated than the description on VRBO. Public transportation was nearby along with taxi stations, and our commutes to Berlin landmarks were easy to figure out. The owner gave us a very helpful orientation when we arrived. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was streamlined and efficient and parking was convenient. This lovely residence will always be part of our best memories of Berlin.
