Overview

About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This is our Maui home, a 4th floor penthouse. We recently put in new furniture, carpet and paint. This condo has been a part of our family since it was new in 1974 and we have carefully remodeled it for maximum comfort and enjoyment. There is a new flat screen (4K, HDR) that will give you convenient access to your Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and other accounts.

The large living area has vaulted ceilings reminiscent of the Hawaiian royalty. We have the most open bathroom areas of any unit in the complex, with built in cabinets and ceiling fans. We have a lighted lanai where we take all our meals and watch the ocean or check out Haleakala crater. We can even watch the whales from there! Kamaole Beach Park III is just across the street, with a wonderful park that has swings and a large grass field for running or flying kites. You can watch the sunset from the Lanai or bring your beverage with you to the beach for an even better view.

When the complex was built, my father, the architect of the complex, had the opportunity to buy any unit he wanted. He chose A-404 as having the best exposure and view, without being right on the street. We believe that, with the remodeling we have done, it is the most comfortable all-around condo there. We have tried to maintain an atmosphere consistent with the islands with our furnishings and artwork.

The master bedroom has direct access to the lanai. It has a king bed, TV, dresser, nightstands and everything you’d expect in your own home. The master bath has plenty of storage and lighting. We even have a rod over the shower/tub to hang snorkel/scuba gear from when washing in the tub.

The second bedroom has a queen bed. The fully remodeled bathroom has more storage, an overhead fan and a shower enclosure. With the Shoji screens stacked to the side, you have a very impressive 'great' room.

The kitchen has all the usual appliances, including the necessary blender for your favorite island drinks. We try to leave the refrigerator stocked with most of the usual condiments you hate to buy for a week or two: mustard, mayo, catsup, salad dressings, etc. Don’t be surprised if someone has left drinks and other non-perishable items for your enjoyment. There is often something in the freezer, too. We encourage you to use them and leave something for the next guests. The condo is “hotel” clean for your arrival and then cleaned up when you leave. We even have a separate filtered water spigot at the sink so you don’t have to buy bottled water!

We have full a sized washer & dryer in the utility closet, along with coolers, beach mats, towels, and everything you need for the beach.

There are three air conditioners, SIX ceiling fans (one in each bedroom, bathroom and kitchen), one large and one small tower fans will keep you comfortable. Try using the fans & opening the windows to get the true island experience.

Enjoy the common pool area, the BBQ with tables and chairs & the covered gazebo at Haleakala Shores.

Walk to restaurants, and shops.

About Alan Nobler

We live in San Jose, California and have traveled to exotic locations around the world, but keep coming back to Maui. We have owned this condo since it was new and have done extensive remodeling.

Alan Nobler purchased this condo in 1974

Why Alan Nobler chose Kihei

We have owned 2 other condos on Maui, but keep this one as the best of all. It has all the amenities you might need for your vacation. You can walk to restaurants, the beach is convenient and provides both snorkeling and boogie boarding as a break from your tanning.

What makes this condo unique

This is our 2nd home. We have treated it as such and have the things there we expect to enjoy as part of the Maui experience. We can be in the water before most hotel guests can catch an elevator.

Contact us for our restaurant and activity recommendations.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to take the time to let you know that your condo was a delight and we loved, as usual, our time in Maui. After visiting Maui every year for the last 15 years, I must say that your condo was the best equipped we have ever stayed in!

Thank You,

Great Location, Great Price!

  • 5 of 5

If you want a luxury condominium, feel free to find and pay for one. This is not it. But this condo IS the best deal on Maui. The location cannot be beat! And the price also cannot be beat! Just across the street from some of the best beaches, and in walking distance to great food, great coffee, great gelato, great ice cream, great shaved ice, great shopping, everything you could want! And the price of the condo allowed us to splurge on these other things instead of spending all our money on a luxury condo. Has amenities like beach towels, boogie boards, noodles (great for snorkeling with kids), sand toys, etc. The onsite property manager is also a very nice guy and was sweet with our kids. We LOVED our stay and will likely be back. Thanks Barb and Alan for being great hosts!

Homey

  • 4 of 5

The room was probably one of the nicer ones to stay in at the Haleakala Shores. Being on the top floor with vaulted ceilings and a very nice view of the ocean off the lanai. 2 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to get a shave ice or ice cream. Well equipped kitchen, lots of linens, beach chairs and umbrellas. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Haleakala Shores in March 2014

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Haleakala Shores and the unit was very well maintained, we enjoyed our stay for 4 weeks and especially liked the water filter system in the unit. Whatever we needed was there for us to use. Our view from the Lanai got better everyday as the sun set right in front on Kamaole 3 beach . We will like to come back again soon. Thank-you for a most enjoyable vacation in Maui.

Wonderful Condo - Convenient Location

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this condo at Haleakala Shores. It is on the top floor (there is an elevator) so it has higher ceilings than most of the condos in the complex, making it feel very airy and roomy. We watched for whales with our morning coffee on the lanai and could see just when to run down to the beach for a good sunset.

The beach is right across the street and has a very extensive reef for snorkeling. If you bring keikis (kids), you might like to know that it is one of the few beaches on Maui with a lifeguard. We often saw sea turtles when we snorkeled there. And we saw a lot of sea turtles when we walked the trail along the shore, so there's an opportunity to see them even if you don't snorkel.

We did a lot of cooking, so we enjoyed having use of the BBQ facilities down by the pool. Besides the BBQ, you'll find shady and sunny spots to relax, tables and chairs, and a covered area with a selection of books. We found the pool area a nice place to sun-bathe, swim, eat or play games...without sand.

There's a boat ramp close by, so if you are planning a trip to Molokini (the owners suggested a great trip for us) or chartering a boat, it's very convenient. We walked there. Go south for a beautiful walk or jog to Wailea, or north for local shops and restaurants (including delicious ice cream... we couldn't resist). And for us...no matter what the weather report, we had one beautiful day after another for our whole visit. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!
