About Tracy Lucente & Bill Houck
Bill, after a prior career in business consulting, has been active in real estate development, construction and rentals for nearly 30 years. He is excited to finally apply his first degree in Forestry to the 640 acres of trees at Tumalo Lake. Why Tracy Lucente & Bill Houck chose Bend
Bill & Tracy, during a 2005 visit to Bend, fell in love with the Tumalo Lake property and the original 5 cabins which had been built in the 1930s. After moving to Bend in 2007, several years were spent obtaining necessary land-use and building permits and trenching 1 1/2 miles to bring in electricity and phone. Construction began in 2009. The Hillside Cabin was completed in October, 2011, the Creekside Cabin June, 2012, the Lakeside East Cabin June, 2013, and the Lakeside West Cabin in October, 2014. Eventually a main lodge will also be built. We feel this is a very special property and believe you will feel the same way after visiting.
What makes this Cabin unique
Central Oregon, and Bend, Oregon in particular, are well reknown for both Summer and Winter sports. Enthusiasts from near and far visit for hiking, biking (road and mountain), skiing (Nordic and Alpine), snow shoeing, boating, fly fishing, rock climbing, etc. Tumalo Lake Lodge is ideally situated in the middle of the nationally known 'Phil's Trail' mountain biking trail system. In Winter, these and other trails and shelters form an extensive snow shoeing/x-country trail network. Tumalo Falls (97 feet tall) is a 3-4 mile hike away. Tumalo Creek, 2 miles away, affords fly fishing opportunities. While staying at Tumalo Lake you are staying on a private square mile of forested land surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest but still only 12 miles to downtown Bend. We began stocking Tumalo Lake with Rainbow Trout in 2013 and guests this past Summer were catching 16-18' beauties. This Winter, weather permitting, we will be making an ice skating rink on Tumalo Lake. There is no other place so close to Bend affording such quality accommodations, privacy and natural beauty.
Beautiful and Tranquil get away
We were looking for a place to unplug and get away. We couldn’t have found a better place to do it. Hours were spent out on the water and swaying in a hammock with a new book. We really needed the refresh in our busy lives.
This place was perfect in every way. We’ll be back.
stunning and relaxing getaway
We were in Bend for a lacrosse tournament. We had tired girls at then end of the day, but the second we arrived to the Hillside Cabin, we were all able to breathe and relax in a clean a cozy cabin, on a peaceful and serene lake. We took advantage of all the lake and cabin has to offer....the hammock next to the water, kayaks, canoes, and paddle board, the hot tub on the deck, the 2 mile run around the lake, and the sounds of birds and other wild animals. Unfortunately we couldn't find the time to have a bonfire or use cornhole or the many trails all around.. We would need a few more full days to fully enjoy all it has to offer.
The drive from Bend to Tumalo Lake is quick and easy. If I could find a large group of friends, or our team comes back for this tournament, It would be great to rent all the cabins and enjoy all it has to offer.
Thank you for sharing this stunning and relaxing getaway.
The luxury cabin was even more than we anticipated. It is by far the best rental we have encountered. Bill was there when we arrived and was very thorough with cabin 101. The beds were outstanding. I really can't say enough about the very private Tumalo Lake property. It's the place to stay when in Bend, OR. Thank You.
wow. recommend to friends.
The place is a gem. Family friendly. Extremely well stocked and appointed. Comfy beds. Wish we could stay longer.
Beautiful setting and outstanding quality. Quite, serine, well appointed and comfortable beds. Great place to completely unwind. Highly recommend the hike to Tumalo Falls (3.5 miles from entrance to this propert) WiFi but not great cell service with some carriers (but I loved that!)
We’ll be back!
