About Kenny & Izumi

Kenny and Izumi live on the Los Angeles Westside and enjoy life near the beach. Kenny is a real estate professional working in Westside of L.A. since mid-80s.. Izumi is a freelance photographer with a background in documentary TV and film for over 20 years.

We are both very much into self-growth and spirituality striving for conscious living every day. We are also both very active in various professional as well as community-based organizations always being of service to others.

We are truly blessed to have a life in a city near the ocean as well as in the mountains where we can easily find a way to connect to the Source.

Kenny & Izumi purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Kenny & Izumi chose Pine Mountain Club

When Kenny’s daughter was a high school senior, we took her and a bunch of her friends to Big Bear for snow boarding. Since we don’t do downhill skiing, we were driving around checking out the community while the girls were on the slope. We came across some open houses in the area and noticed the prices compared to the rapidly inflating home prices in Los Angeles. We learned many of the homes on the market in the Big Bear were weekend homes. And they were very affordable.

Hmmm, weekend home… That’s how we got the idea. But we didn’t like Big Bear because it felt too congested and too hard to get to. Then Izumi remembered about the Frazier Mountains where she used to go cross-country skiing with friends. She also had a few different friends who lived in the area, particularly in Pine Mountain Club, which is the inner most community in Frazier Mountains.

Because the highest peak is 8,900 feet (Mt. Pinos), there isn’t downhill skiing area. At the same time, there is enough snow to do all kinds of other snow related activities. Without the downhill ski, it eliminates certain kind of crowd, which makes the area quieter. Also, being only 80-miles north of Los Angeles straight up on Interstate 5, it makes it very accessible. Yet once you’re here, it feels so far away.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the fact that our cell phones don’t work. Now PMC has a Verizon Cell Tower. Despite the relative proximity to the city, it really feels like we’ve come far away. It’s quiet, and the air is always fresh.

We love the small community. As we get to know more people in the community, we feel cozy yet we’re not on top of each other. We have neighbors that watch out for our property while we still feel very private staying here.

Our property is located close enough to be able to walk to the village through beautiful trails in the woods but not too close to hear the commotion when there are events. We love taking a walk through the path for our favorite chocolate croissant or full breakfast in the village.

The best part of our property is our hot tub on the deck, which is the best seat in the house for star gazing.

Spacious cabin and wonderful hosts! Will be back again and look forward to it :)

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at Kenny & Izumi's for a couple nights and had a wonderful experience. The location is serene and the cabin itself is cozy, spacious, clean, and equipped with everything you need. Everyone in the community was extremely kind and Izumi was informative, helpful, and prompt to respond to any questions we had. We definitely should have booked the place for longer but what little time we spent there was relaxing and exactly what we needed. Can't wait to come back!

Relaxing Family Getaway ~

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 4 from Santa Clarita, (kids ages 11 & 9 years old) looking for a nice remote getaway that wasn't an all day drive. We found the perfect place in Pine Mountain and with this home. We were lucky enough to met the owners, Kenny & Izumi on our arrival day. They had just been there for the weekend. They are a welcoming and warm couple, with great communications prior to our arrival, and very easy to work with.

The house was perfect! The Kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possibly need for cooking, including a grill outside. All you have to do is bring your food. The layout of the house was very open and comfortable. They have the house well stocked with movies, a few good board games and a Wii . Of course the views are amazing and at night from the spa can't compare. So many stars!

We hiked and went finishing during the day and relaxed at the house in the evening. There are a couple easy quick trails close to the house that will take you in to the cute little town, as well as a few that you can drive to that are worth checking out. Fern Lake where we fished is about 5 mins away. It is catch & release use only, but well stocked with Blue Gill, Catfish and a few other from what the locals told us. The kids were pulling them almost quicker then we could bait their hooks.

Every one in Pine Mountain is very friendly and helpful. We did the hike to the general store which was a quick and easy. The store was well stocked, but a little more expensive if you forget anything, but we packed in our own food. There were a hand full of restaurants in town. We decided to cook at home, so we didn't get a chance to try them this time. We stopped at the bakery which we heard good things about but it was a Tuesday when they are closed. If you visit during the week be sure to check hours of the stores and restaurants.

Thank you Kenny & Izumi for a wonderful getaway! We look forward to another visit and hopefully one time when there is snow!

The Ponderosa Pine trees remind me of the great Sequoias. A magical place for nature lovers.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for the 1st time as an after birthday rejuvenation. This was the perfect home and location. Centrally located to the hikes and short walk to the village through beautifully laid out trails. This place is a real treat for anyone wanting forest type quiet, bird sounds, and the sound of the breeze caressing the branches of the trees. This has become our mini Sequoia Mountain getaway. I highly recommend this place. It truly was a sanctuary from your everyday and busy life.

Immaculate, extremely well stocked kitchen for those who like to cook, like me. The bed is very comfortable. In fact, the bed doesn’t move and wake your partner if you move around. The stars in the night sky are amazing and are a show in themselves as you sit quietly in the Jacuzzi. The home is well laid out, and well-spaced from the neighbors. It’s not crammed between other homes.

The TV system has surround sound and works well, and has sharp picture. Internet service comes and goes, but they have a large collection of DVD’s that plays well. There is no cell service unless you have Verizon as your carrier. Anyone can reach you if needed because the landlord does supply the home's land line phone number in case you need to give it out to family.

We were very sad to leave our new home away from home. Really felt refreshed after only 3 nights. We will be back soon!!
