Drive or take the train to Patchogue for the Davis Park Ferry; leave your car and wi-fi and shoes behind on the mainland for this beautiful two story A -frame right on the boundary of the Fire Island National Seashore. The private back deck overlooks expansive dunes, wild cherry and beach plum, pine, dune grass and wild deer, with ocean and bay views. The front deck faces the small summer houses nestled between pines. A gas grill and deck furniture are yours for entertaining or simply relaxing.
Downstairs, you'll find the master bedroom with a king sized bed, wood floors and white wicker furniture, and its own bath. A sea blue room with twin beds, a sea gray room with a queen and toddler bed, and a brightly colored children's hide away with two built in twin beds, share another bath. For those of you with small children we have a portable crib and a 'high chair' seat which attaches to the bar. A large pantry contains the washer and dryer.
The dining area upstairs overlooks the National Park; the kitchen is complete with a microwave, and refrigerator with ice maker. Windows and sliding glass doors give a 360 degree view of sunrise and sunset, bay and ocean, and a spacious living area invites you to relax after a day at the beach.
You can walk to the beach in a handful of minutes, even with a toddler in tow. The bay is a short five minutes; in fifteen, you're at the National Seashore Headquarters with its programs for young and old alike, or at the Harbor store for that one ingredient you forgot. For the more adventurous, you're welcome to borrow our fishing equipment, try out the kayak, or dig for clams. Whether you're a family or a group of friends, you'll find this sweet space perfect to enjoy each other's company or just have some time to yourself.

I first went out to Fire Island as a child in the 1960's, when my parents rented in Davis Park, until my father built this house. My children have had the great joy of spending summers, and even weekends in the fall and spring here. It's our favorite place in the world, where, away from all the pressures of life, we enjoy each other, our friends---taking walks, playing board games, clamming, and swimming---and are able to renew ourselves. November 2012 update: Many houses in Davis Park and Ocean Ridge area suffered during Sandy. The first day homeowners were allowed back on the beach, it was heartening to see a long line at the ferry dock, everyone dressed in warm clothes, boots and outfitted with shovels, drills, garbage bags and the like, prepared to clean up and begin the rebuilding work. It was a community in action, many of whom had been coming to the beach for forty or more years. We were lucky that our house suffered very little damage although it is clear the time has come to replace the roof. Our hearts go out to those who lost so much more, but we know the true grit of Fire Islanders: we'll work toward restoring the place we love.

Beautiful & serene beach house
My husband and I have vacationed at this relaxing and comfortable home with our friends & their two children for several summers. It is perfectly located at the edge of Ocean Ridge & the nature preserve and just steps away from the beach.
There are gorgeous panoramic views from the wrap-around decks and it is an ideal place to unwind & experience the beauty and serenity of Fire Island.
Chris, the owner of the house has been very helpful in answering any questions and accommodating our needs.
Peace, quiet and nature in a beautiful location
My wife and I have rented this house for several summers in a row. I have spent over 30 years visiting the beaches of Long Island's south shore from Long Beach to Montauk and I consider this to be the best located beach house I have ever seen. Situated at the very eastern edge of quiet Ocean Ridge, across a narrow un-trafficked boardwalk from the perpetually uncrowded beach, the house has very large wrap-around elevated deck providing views of the Atlantic Ocean, Great South Bay, and—most stunningly—the adjacent Watch Hill nature preserve and Fire Island Wilderness area with its rolling sand dunes. The deck is perfect for entertaining, outdoor dinners, sunbathing and stargazing. It also has a large propane-fueled barbeque. Inside, on the same level as the deck, there is a good-sized open kitchen and counter top with stools as well as a living room area that looks out over the ocean. Downstairs on the ground level, there are three bedrooms, one with an en suite bath, and one small bedroom that could fit two small children. There is a second bathroom and shower in the hallway and an outdoor shower. If you are looking for a relaxing, true beach vacation, free from the worries of cars, traffic, crowds and noise, this will be your paradise.
