About Tom Rusk
A native of Ohio, I have lived in the Cooperstown area since 2009 and currently reside in the Village of Cooperstown.
Tom Rusk purchased this House in 2009
Why Tom Rusk chose Hartwick
This property was purchased for the adventure of log home living when I relocated to Central New York for work. Having lived in cities and visited family in rural areas, I was up for the adventure. That path has now included completely renovating the original main home (42 North), adding the garage and apartment (1 Phinney Creek@ 42 North) and continuing to tend the property, now for the use of guests. The property was simply too unique to sell when my wife and I moved into the Village of Cooperstown to occupy another adventure and project house - this time an 1885 Victorian. We are happy to be stewards of both properties and share 42 North with others.
What makes this House unique
42 North is conveniently located 12-15 minutes outside the Village of Cooperstown but with very easy access to area amenities. The nearest gas stations are about 4 miles away in either direction and the nearest groceries about 15 minutes away in either direction. Larger shopping centers are 35 minutes to the south and 45 minutes to the north. In summer, 42 North is just far enough removed from area baseball tournament camps to be quiet and enjoyable yet convenient for families attending these camps.

Cooperstown Baseball Stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the home. We found it to be exceptionally clean given that we have allergies and found no signs of dust. The house provided a rustic yet modern stay for us and was close to ball fields and the downtown area. We would definitely stay here again.
Better than advertised!! Great experience and great get away from all the hustle and bustle of Cooperstown.
Great experience. Well kept home and property. Personable and responsive owner.
beautiful house in great location!
My family of 6 stayed at 42 North for 2 nights this Spring.
The house is beautifully decorated and very clean. Everything was comfortable. Nice TVs, some board games and a pool table kept everyone entertained in the evenings. The house is only a 15 minute drive from Cooperstown but is very secluded with no visible neighbors and lots of open space. The kids did NOT want to leave! The well water had a bit of a funny smell and the back patio needs some repair, but overall this house was great and we would definitely rent it again..
My husband and I traveled from Colorado and my brother and his family traveled from Chicago. 42 North was the perfect house to relax and talk the hours away and it was so convenient to prepare our own meals. In the evening we would gather on the lower level and play pool, laugh and watch baseball. The perfect house for a get-away and only a few minutes drive to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Tom, the owner, was very responsive whenever we had a question. I highly recommend 42 North.
Brought my 90 year old grandfather up for a Christmas present to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame, along with my kids. The 3 bedrooms and 2 baths were perfect. There are also two living spaces, one with a pool table and fireplace. The two living spaces allowed us to spread out a bit. The home is in great shape and very welcoming.
