Fun trip spoiled by management
The Good:
Unit is in a great location - right next to the pool with a great ocean view. Unit was priced well also.
The Bad:
Main balcony door did not lock. The latch was rusted out. I texted and called upon arrival, but had no follow up from management. The unit was on the second floor, so I was not overly concerned about it. Upon leaving we followed all check out instructions. All trash was taken out, we even washed and folded all towels, made all the beds, and even swept and vacuumed. Further, we did not even use one of the bedrooms. I received a call after check out, on the way home, that we would be charged an additional $30 for cleaning because there were blood stains all over one of the comforters. I asked for clarification, because no one on our trip had any cuts or accidents. I was sent a picture of an insanely small red stain (the size of a rice grain) on a denim comforter. I was further told that I should have inspected the unit upon arrival for defects and immediately reported them upon check in (like the door which I did report, but never heard back). Management further said that if I had paid for the insurance, I would not have incurred this charge. The entire incident felt extremely petty. I would gladly pay for anything I damaged or ruined. The comforter stain, however, was not my doing and was insanely small. In over a decade of VRBO rentals this is the first time I have ever had such a bizarre incident with management.
