About Thomas E. Neve
We are the original developers of this special place and we had the opportunity to restore this unique property in hopes to retain its original character and charm. It worked. Museum Lodges continues to provide many with deep and memorable vacation experieces. Repeat visits are common.
Thomas E. Neve purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Thomas E. Neve chose Tuftonboro
This property allowed us to share the unique qualities of days gone by. The cabins were originally built in the mid 1940's. Renovated along the way to provide guests with comfortable but simple accommodations among a wooded but waterfront location. These simple accommodations were enhanced recently to provide updated features needed for today s lifestyle but still providing and maintaining the cabins original charm.
What makes this Cottage unique
Simplicity. Private setting and unique accommodations. Pleasant surroundings. Children friendly. Water access for all ages. Private beach and safe swim area.

Relaxing retreat on the lake! Everything you need !
Thank you Tom for providing my son and I a wonderful place to retreat to for the weekend ! Everything you need is here. And the bed was ever so comfortable!! We enjoyed fishing , kayaking , playing ping pong and pool in the rec center. Hope to return next year!!!
Nancy, You did find the magic about Cottage #9. Much went into it's planning and managing this special place has been our pleasure. I look forward to seeing you again. Warm regards, Tom
Very cozy nicely renovated cabin
Nice beach, nice setting. Great area to bicycle. Loved the sound of the loons
A quaint little getaway with lots of perks
I spent just two short days at this cabin with my girlfriend for a romantic getaway. It didn't let us down. It does have shared facilities such as the beach, fire pit, grill and outdoor dining area with other cabins (some owned, some rented), so you are not guaranteed your own privacy. But the few we met were very pleasant and rarely around.
We had a blast using the free to use canoe to trip out on the lake. We made use of the fire pit each night toasting smores under the stars, listening to distance Loons.
The cabin itself is cosy, clean and quiet with a lot of charm, and the owner met us on arrival and we very welcoming and helpful.
The only con from this delightful place is the hot water for a shower. It must be a small tank as the hot water (and it is VERY hot) does not last long. Two people could not shower without one having to wait for more hot water to heat up. But that was very minor in comparison to the beauty of the area and the privacy of the beach and dock.
Highly recommend this place and we will most definitely return sometime in the future to 'our' new place.
I am so glad that you had a nice time at our cottage. It is a very special place and thank you for your thoughtful and honest review. It is funny that you mentioned the hot water and on Sunday I had our electrician check the hot water heater and low and behold he found that it was only getting 50% of the power since one leg of the wiring was not connected to the panel. He is returning to fix it and the recovery rate on the hot water will be back to the way it should be. Thank you for mentioning it and I hope that you revisit us soon. Regards, Tom Neve
Great place, Great people.
Very cozy cabin, had nice features, great location. We discovered our ancestors came from Wolfenboro. Overall, it was the greatest weekend ever
A clean and efficient cabin in the most stunning setting!
My whole family loves this cabin on one of the most beautiful lake settings around!! My kids have a blast playing on the beach, swimming out to the floating dock, endless fishing and boating trips. The cabin is a cute and clean place to cook meals, have family dinners, unwind and hunker down for sleep. We all love this spot so very much and leave feeling rested and connected as a family.
We Came Back!!!
Enjoyed our first visit to # 9 Museum Lodge so much, we wanted to try to recapture those wonderful days in the cabin on the Lake. We accomplished that and more......the weather was perfect for kayaking and spending time on the beach...warm days and cool nights. Our hosts Tom and Sheila couldn't have been nicer. It was a lovely week....
Lake Winnipesaukee is called 'the Big Lake'. A picturesque 90 minute car ride around the lake will introduce you to a myriad of special interests and attractions. Eight, unique New England Towns surround the Lake, each offering their own menu of features. The area is considered the 'oldest vacation resort' in New England. Everything you will need is in the Town of Wolfeboro which is located about 3 miles south of Museum Lodges. There are five other, quaint, New England, Towns surrounding the Lake, each offering a variety of restaurants, shops and attractions. Visit Castle in the Clouds, in Moultonboro and have lunch in a mountainside restaurant offering a picturesk and panoramic view of the Lake. Visit many wonderful restaurants around the Lake for a quick breakfast or lunch or for a romantic dinner. Many family restaurants are also a good stop.
