About Sandy, MidpinesMountainRetreat@gmail.com

My husband and I met while going to school in Mariposa, got married 35 years ago, had 2 children who were born and raised here and now we have two grandchildren. We love living in the country and the privacy of our home.

Sandy, MidpinesMountainRetreat@gmail.com purchased this house in 1986

Why Sandy, MidpinesMountainRetreat@gmail.com chose Yosemite Area

Having a vacation rental here in Midpines is one of the closest places you can get, with traveling distance to Yosemite National Park. The town of Mariposa has so many things to offer, we enjoy the small town atmosphere.

What makes this house unique

Sitting on the deck in the morning and watching the sun come up while enjoying a cup of coffee is so serene, then sitting on the pool deck watching the kids play in the pool.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for all the goodies in the kitchen- all the spices and coffee and special extras, that was nice. We enjoyed the quiet, the hot tub and pool. The scent of the forest and especially the deer and the birds. Such a lovely setting! The cooler really worked great for our picnics and our grocery shopping, so glad you had it here. (wonderful that you thought of it). We appreciated the wifi so we could upload photos and use our computers. Thank you for the hospitality, glad we got to chat the other day.

Very cute and cozy place!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I booked this cabin literally the day before our stay. The other cabin that we originally rented was by the 41 was closed down due to the rain causing damage to the roads. Sandy was very quick at replying though email and helpful. We got our deposit back fairly quickly. The cabin was cute, cozy and perfect for our family of 5. My boys had so much fun running around the property. There's a lot of open space and lots of cute details. The cabin was very clean with plenty of towels, and kitchen ware. I was impressed that there was a rice cooker as we are Asian and need to eat rice everyday. Two of the bedrooms had heaters and I wish that the third did too. There's instant hot water when you turn on the faucet and my husband enjoyed the shower with the two shower heads. Though it was too cold for the pool and spa, we'll definitely be back for the summer. Thank you Sandy for a wonderful stay! It's a great spot to stay on the way to Yosemite.

Quiet and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

It was nice to stay in a quiet country setting such as this after several days in large cities. Not too far from the Yosemite entrance, and my wife and I were grateful for the hot tub after long days of hiking. We didn't get to try the pool due to time and was still a bit chilly out for us. Lots of birds and wildlife. The place was clean, comfortable, and had a lot of little extras provided by the owner and a few by past guests. So much nicer than staying in a hotel, and come to find out the kitchen table is exactly like ours at home. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we come back to this area. Thanks Allen and Sandy!

Though it was an old cabin its still clean, well maintained and I like that it is quite. Having a pool and a jacuzzi is a plus.

Poor

Everything in house old, hot tub and pool a joke

Deck has nails sticking up everywhere. Walmart gas barbecue and the kitchen stove leaks gas. I doubt that this house is up to code. The amount of money for this house is ripping people off.

Owner's Response: Greg I have addressed your concerns. As a note of assurance we had the gas checked professionally and there was no leak, just the tank was low.

Midpines Mountain Retreat

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 3 nights at the MidPines Mountain Retreat. It was very comfortable and spacious with many thoughtful details. We enjoyed watching the birds at the birdfeeder. We saw many different kinds including quail and turkey! The hot tub was so soothing to our sore feet and legs after a couple of days hiking in Yosemite. It was romantically lit at night! The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. There was even a bar area with a blender.

Although it was only my husband and me, I could see that a family would be very comfortable here. There were toys and other things for kids to play with including a play house sized jail! The house was conveniently located close to Mariposa but on the way to Yosemite. I would recommend staying here.
