About Richard and Joey Dylla

Richard is retired from Holt Catepillar in San Antonio and now spends his time working the cattle farm. Joey is a financial advisor that works for a local Credit Union. They have 6-children and 5-grandchildren and a number of grand-dogs!

Richard and Joey Dylla purchased this farmhouse in 2013

Why Richard and Joey Dylla chose San Antonio

This home was built by Richard, his dad and two brothers in 1960. After his parents passed away, Richard and Joey purchased the home from the family estate and began an 18-month renovation. The goal, to preserve the family home and to share it with others who enjoy the country life, even if only a vacation at a time! The home is warm and inviting farmhouse style without being too fussy. A perfect home for a family vacation or a girlfriends weekend!

What makes this farmhouse unique

Fully renovated, beautiful country home just a short drive to San Antonio, New Braunfels, San Marcos, Austin and the Texas Hill Country.

Like to walk or jog? The city park is less than 2-miles away with small playground, park benches, covered picnic areas, and great walking/jogging paths with outdoor lighting.

Because we are located outside the city, you will find the room tax rate significantly lower (almost 10% lower) than city room tax rates. A significant savings for your vacation!

Our Farmhouse Home

  • 5 of 5

After busy days sightseeing and enjoying the big city, we all looked forward to going home to the farmhouse. We were so comfortable and had everything we needed. The decor was charming and the animals were an additional treat. The farmhouse was not just our accommodations, but a highlight of our trip. We really enjoyed meeting you all. not a rental but home!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many VRBO rentals and by far, the Dylla Farm, is the best. When you pull up into the driveway and walk o to to the front porch you feel like you are home or at families house. A relaxing front porch is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. The inside of the farm is decorated beautifully. Every detail to make everyone feel at home was thought of. Waiting for us was a basket with snacks and breakfast items in the cake dish. Fresh flowers and snacks in all of the bedroom and plenty of towels. Everything you need for eating outside was privided (even sunscreen and mosquito spray). We enjoyed a lot of time in the backyard watching the cows and sunsets.

Although the Dylla Farm is located in the country, you are 25 minutes from the Riverwalk. We visited San Marcos and New Braunsfeld and they were 25 minutes in the opposite direction.

Richard and Joey have put so much love into re-modeling the family farm to make their guests feel the love, laughter and joy their relatives have felt throughout the years when staying in the farm house.

I usually do not write reviews but on the occasions I have the reviews have been short and too the point. Staying at the Dylla Farmhouse was such a wonderful experience I had to take the time to write this review. I highly recommend it the Dylla Farm!

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

All we can say is WOW! We absolutely loved staying at Dylla Farms. The farmhouse was very spacious and beautifully decorated. We felt like we could just move in. It was one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed and we have been on many, many trips and stayed at all kinds of places. We drove from the N. Dallas area and wanted a get away retreat to stay at while attending my cousins wedding just 25 minutes from the farmhouse. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch and watching the baby cows and drinking our coffee in the mornings. I really enjoyed all the vintage items in the house and especially was in love with the kitchen. We were greeted with some delightful snacks and baked goods and were able to park in the garage out of the heat! I loved every room in the house but especially loved how big the bedrooms were. The bed we slept in was so comfortable I never wanted to get up! I also loved the pillow and wanted to bring it home with me. Joey and Richard thought of every little thing to make us feel like home. We loved the coffee bar and the kitchen had all the items you would need to cook anything you wanted. Just bring your food. On our last evening we decided to drive to San Antonio to eat at Lulu's Café with my family. They have a 3 pound cinnamon roll that is quite delicious and huge!. Of course we brought it home with us and enjoyed it for days. The food was really good too. Looks like a dive, the wait time might be a little long but we thought it was worth the experience. Overall our stay was perfect. We were very comfortable and very much enjoyed staying at the farmhouse. The only negative thing I can say is that we didn't stay long enough! We most definitely plan to visit again.
