Walk everywhere in Hollywood + best central location in Los Angeles

Bedrooms 1
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

This is the perfect place to enjoy all that Hollywood has to offer. Walking distance to Hollywood and Highland, Mann Chinese Theater, Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Cinerama Dome, Amoeba Music, tons of restaurants, bars and nightclubs - there is literally no chance you will ever be bored in this neighborhood.

The apartment is gigantic - over 850 square feet. There is a ton of room for everything with two closets, shelves and drawers for all your stuff. There are lots of areas to relax and enjoy. First of all the private balcony gives you a birds eye view of the neighborhood and the lush garden below.

There are two "bed rooms" with a closing door - as if you're entering a deluxe hotel suite with a separate second bedroom. They are both connected to the private outdoor patio - a great space to people watch or enjoy a morning cup of fresh coffee.

The kitchen has a large breakfast nook and vintage stove. Pots, pans, silverware, a toaster, microwave, coffee pot, kettle, everything you need to prepare basic meals if you enjoy cooking - although there are numerous restaurants to suit every budget within walking distance and many of them deliver as well.

It's clean, it's comfortable, it's safe, it's fun, and it's in a great location.

About Alexander McDonald

I work in entertainment cutting commercials for television shows and movies.

Alexander McDonald purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Alexander McDonald chose Hollywood

The neighborhood is the big draw. It's walking distance to so many great places and our corner is very friendly and the neighbors are great.

The history of the property is interesting as well. I am only the third owner since 1915 when the main house was built. It was one of the first in the neighborhood. A Greek family bought it in the 70s and the father was the one who established the community garden across the street. Apparently he used to go across the street and gather ingredients while he was cooking. Neighbors come by and tell stories about him - I guess he was a bit of a character.

When I was looking at it it just felt like the kind of place I'd want my son to grow up and invite my friends and family to come over and enjoy.

What makes this apartment unique

Fantastic neighborhood, central location to visit LA, excellent value, walk to restaurants and all that Hollywood has to offer

We are light sleepers, so the street Is a bit busy for our liking. Bedding comfortable. Place could use a bit of TLC, but Alex was responsive and accomodating. Nice to find a place we can take our dog.

Home sweet home

  • 5 of 5

This unit is cozy, clean, well maintained and in a wonderful area making access to all of Hollywood a breeze. Most most importantly the owners are more accessible than any other owner I've ever dealt with. We would gladly return.

Great Location and Fair Hollywood Property

  • 4 of 5

Walking distance to just about anything you'd want to see in touristy Hollywood. We chose this property so we could walk to the Hollywood Bowl, but also we're able to stroll to the Sunday Farmer's Market and Cineramadome.

I've stayed at Homeaways in Hollywood proper several times now and I found this of fair quality for the area. Many of the homes here are quite old and run down. If you're looking for state-of-the-art, choose another area of LA.

Biggest downfall of this stay was that when we arrived at 8:15pm, the unit was probably about 110 degrees. There is a window unit in the front room only. It had not been turned on prior to our arrival. While this would probably be a non-issue most of the year, we happened to visit in one of the hottest weeks of the year. We moved the bed across the room directly in front of the unit to be able to sleep the first night. After running the a/c and dispersing the cool air with the provider fan, the main living area became comfortable. That took until the next evening. We were able to reassemble the room to its normal state at that point. The private bedroom was unaffected by the a/c and fairly unliveable (temperature-wise) the entire time. Again - in the cooler months, this wouldn't be a problem, so be aware of this situation if you intend to sleep 4 people in this unit during the summer. The folks in the private room might wake up crispy.

The kitchen and bathroom were fair as well. They also remained fairly toasty from the lack of a/c. We didn't cook but would've been weary to turn on the oven anyway for the heat in the space already.

All-in-all, it was a fine stay. No frills, but it was relatively inexpensive as LA stays go and the biggest perk here is definitely the location.

Perfect Hollywood option.

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed here 6 nights in late August. The location was awesome. It's about 1/2 mile at the most from 2 different metro stops: Hlwd and Highland or Hlwd and Vine. It was a pleasant and safe walk even in the evening. However, once it got past 10 pm we would call a Lyft ride just to be safe. We toured all around the LA area and never needed a car. We flew into Burbank and caught the Burbank bus to the No. Hlwd metro station then rode to Hlwd/highland. then did the opposite to get back to The airport at the end of the trip. Very easy and cheap. When we wanted to visit areas that weren't in the metro line we would just use Lyft which was always very quick and cheap, especially using the Lyft line or carpool option. The apartment itself is very roomy and extremely clean! The bed in the sunroom is a futon mattress which is the one I used, the other bed in the main room is a lot softer and my daughter liked that one. We used the tv for about 5 minutes total but it seemed to work just fine with lots of channel options. There is a large closet with lots of hangers and some shelves . We had enough towels to use for our stay and there was a hair dryer, iron, and ironing board available that we didn't use. There is even a clothes drying rack if you should need one. The kitchen was just ok... the pans were all small and old teflon, but they worked well enough to cook eggs in the morning. With all the food available in the area we saw no need to stay home and cook lunch or dinner. The coffee pot worked well as did the microwave. The old antique stove worked really well too. We didn't use the oven. The kitchen table is a bit wobbly, but putting afolded up chunk of paper towel under one of the legs helped a bit.

The week we were there was VERY HOT... in the high 90's to 100 and we only chose to put the air conditioner on the last day. The apartment has a ton of windows that all open easily and we found that it was warm, but comfortable with them open. When we used the air conditioner it cooled the place fairly quickly. The one downside to having the windows open is the street noise. The place is on a small street, but it's a very well used alternate throroughfare to The other larger east-west thoroughfares like Sunset Blvd. that being said, when we had the windows closed and the air on, the noise all but disappeared.

The owner communicated very well and we had no issues whatsoever. We would definitely stay here again

Awesome quiet apartment close to Hollywood Boulevard

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Alexander 's place for 6 nights and it was perfect

We are a family of 4 and there were 2 sleeping areas with comfortable beds

There is a kitchen with all mod cons in a very Hollywood 50s style but we ate out mostly.

We had a car but you can walk and reach the Boulevard and see a lot of the attractions easily. We walked to Melrose Avenue in half an hour-vintage shopping heaven

The neighbourhood is quiet and safe and there is a corner shop with basics and booze❤

Would defo stay here again

Just one point the air con unit is effective but loud so if you a light sleeper maybe take ear plugs

You get used to it's hum though

Many thanks Alexander for a great stay
