Island Paradise, 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 8, Walk to Beach, WiFi

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 8

A little bit of South Beach color and a lot of Spanish style beauty make Island Paradise a glorious venue for your next St. Augustine vacation! Just 2 houses from the beach, courtyard, deck, HDTVs! Please note there is a 1-week minimum stay.

To walk to the beach from Island Paradise -- which you can do in a minute flat -- simply stroll one house over to the corner, turn left, cross the road, and meet up with the path leading to the boardwalk over the dunes. The views from the boardwalk are almost as exciting as the beach itself! Turtles nest here, rabbits hop among the vegetation, and exotic birds call it home. You'll love your mini-trek through the natural beauty of northeast Florida!

But you may find that you like it so much at Island Paradise, you really don't want to leave the property! The first draw will probably be the second-story deck, which spans the length of the house on the ocean side, picking up a good salty breeze and a faint murmur of the surf. Comfortable chairs on the upper deck, just waiting for a velvety night when the stars are popping and the air is balmy. (That's likely to be every night here in St. Augustine Beach, by the way!)

The deck also has plenty of casual seating and a good mix of sun and shade, so everyone can pick their desired level of exposure. This is the place where you'll wander out first thing in the morning, coffee in one hand and smartphone in the other (free WiFi at Island Paradise), to watch the pelicans sail out to sea in stately formation. It's also where you may wind up eating lunch or even dinner, not to mention many glasses of wine!

Later on, stroll downstairs and out to the courtyard and stretch out on one of the chaise lounges. Beautifully landscaped with tropical lushness, the courtyard is a great place for small children to play in a private, enclosed space, and for older ones to sunbathe, read, and enjoy their own little oasis on the beach! There's a fountain here and plenty of open space. You'll fall in love with the courtyard!

When it's time to step inside, smooth tiled floors and soft tropical colors greet you. The great room is splendid, with many windows, big HDTV with cable and DVD player, and lots of comfy seating. The kitchen and dining area are attached to this room, with the breakfast nook a particularly wonderful spot in an alcove of sunny windows. Great for playing games, writing postcards, and even working on the laptop!

The chefs in your group will thrill to the kitchen at Island Paradise. Stone countertops with lovely accents, new appliances, and well-stocked cupboards invite you to turn the fresh catch of the day into a gourmet feast . . . or just to throw together mac and cheese for the little ones before their parents go dine at Columbia!

There are 3 bedrooms at Island Paradise, plus a sofa sleeper for 2 more people. All are comfy and restful, but the master suite is truly exceptional, with a cozy queen-sized bed, balcony access, windows everywhere, and an en-suite bath with walk-in shower and vessel sink!

The second bedroom contains a queen bed as well, TV, sliding glass doors to the outdoors, and tons of space, while the third also offers a queen. All linens, blankets, and pillows are provided for every bed (even the sleeper sofa!) here at Island Paradise, as are the towel sets for both bathrooms. You'll even find a washer and dryer to keep everything fresh!

From the moment you pull up into the driveway, with its elegant fountain and palm trees, you'll know you're in for a unique and unforgettably fun St. Augustine vacation. Book your stay at Island Paradise now! Renters do not have garage access per owners request.

Nice house walking distance to the beach.

  • 4 of 5

Great house within walking distance to the beach. The house is about 10 miles from downtown St. Augustine. Great for a relaxing vacation.

Clean and comfortable at a good rate.

  • 4 of 5

The house was great. Everything worked and staying there was relaxing. The only negatives were that the fireplace and hot tub are disabled during rentals. We have rented many other places where these features are working, so it was a bit disappointing, like they thought we could not be trusted to operate a fireplace or a hot tub. Most people who are able to pay three thousand dollars for a week are probably smart enough to do so. But we enjoyed our stay, and that's what's important.

Not Responsive to Safety Concerns

  • 1 of 5

On our last afternoon, the transformer in the front yard blew up during a storm and the property lost power. The neighbors received their power back but the Electric company said it would be after 11:00PM before we received power again. We would have been fine with this but there were no candles or flashlights or emergency equipment. We called for this but nothing was available. The main living area of this house is on the second floor (up one steep set of steps) and after dark it would have been UNSAFE to stay or move around in the house.

We made several calls for some assistance to make staying tenable but nothing could be provided. We advised customer service of this and that we would need to leave and stay at a hotel. When we asked for a refund of our last evening, our emails and phone calls went unanswered until we received an email several weeks later indicating that whereas "the Spring of 2016 has already been a very active and negative weather owners are not required by our agreements or the law, to provide items such as flashlights or emergency lighting".

The property may be fine for a family coming for a long stay and bringing everything with them but flying in for a short stay (3 nights) is not worth it. There is no sense of hospitality or service that we have experienced with many other VRBO properties. We brought coffee but there wasn't even any coffee filters.

It is a short walk to the beach but the views are of the neighbors backyards. Additionally, my sister and her husband who stayed with us for the first two nights in the bottom "master bedroom' said they felt like they were in the basement. The upper bedrooms that share a bathroom are more updated and comfortable.

We are posting this review because as seasoned travelers - we would appreciate the information provided and would have chosen a different (more hospitable) VRBO. And one where the owner actually is involved or interested in problems that occur on the property.

We were extremely excited for our spring break stay. Unfortunately we were disappointed by the accommodations. The house is decent sized for our family of 4, the kids rooms had TVs and queen beds which they enjoyed. The location is pretty good, a short walk to the beach but what we were told is a block is a bit more due to the dunes. Upon arrival the house had a terrible cooking smell that lasted most of the week. It just seemed like it had not been thoroughly cleaned. There are a number of items that were in disrepair, such as the vent hood and dishwasher in the kitchen and all of the windows which don't have screens, so airing out that terrible smell meant bugs. The management company came by our first night and asked if we needed anything. I identified our primary issues and I was assured someone would take care of them. They didn't so I called back a few days later. They were very friendly and helpful and the one issue I asked to have resolved was to have someone clean the trap on the dishwasher which smelled terrible. No one ever came and I got sick of calling so we washed by hand, no big deal. Cost of the rental is not accurately represented on this site, so expect to pay more. Given the cost you should expect better accommodations and a more updated house. A short list of other things to know: parental controls on all TVs for the most mundane tv shows with no information on this in the info packet, no grill, half block from a trailer park and the deck comes with a dirty empty hot tub, which we avoided. Overall we still had a decent time in St Augustine. The beach is very nice, and we can recommend the area for families, but would not rent from these property managers again.

Great home for our vacation stay

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our vacation home in St Augustine. Location was great and was as advertised. We walked to the beach within 1 minute each day. It was a great beach and really seemed private as there was very few people around. The home fit our family great. We would stay there again in the future.

Great house and location

  • 5 of 5

This house and location did NOT disappoint. It was in walking distance to the beach which was not crowded. It felt like we had our own private beach all week. It was also close to downtown St. Augustine. The house was much prettier in person than the pictures. Everything was well cleaned and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you needed. There was only side of the grill that worked so it was hard to grill out for 8 people. There were plenty of extra sheets and blankets. The house also had extra beach chairs for use. I would highly recommend this house to any family looking for a place to stay in St. Augustine.
